I have 8 years of experience managing my mother's dementia care in 3 different memory care. What I…read morelearned is this disease is difficult to manage, even in the best of situations. I've seen poor facilities and just ok facilities, but never great ones. So my expectations are low. But Tradition has scored a zero for their care of my mother in law. Three times in the past month we have called the facility and never got through to the staff on her floor. Terminal hold, phone systems down, etc. I asked the receptionist for the direct number to the memory care floor, but was told all calls have to go through the receptionist. Translation "We won't give you that number". My sister-in-law put a video camera in her mom's room so she knows when her mom has fallen and needs staff assistance. The 3 times she needed help, we could not get through to anyone to let them know.

While the facility - building, fixtures and decor are quite nice, the staff is a disappointment,…read morefor the most part. The food in the dining room downstairs was nice, but upstairs was not. As long as you don't need assistance, you would be happy there. My mother was given a call button on a wrist band. From the beginning, it never worked. They would tell her it was fine, If one of us talked to them about it, they always said the battery must be low. They moved her upstairs to memory care. At times there could be a room full of residents with not one care partner in the room and the TV blaring. After my mother was in a wheelchair, I was visiting and she said she needed to use the restroom. It took me a while to find someone to help her, when I did, she said she wasn't her CP (Care Partner) I asked who it was, where they were and was told she was on break. I continued to tell her my Mother needed to use the restroom and she finally said she'd do it. She walked up to my Mother and said, well, she's got a diaper on, and told her to just go in her diaper. When she would ask to go to her room after lunch, they wouldn't let her. They kept her door locked, they kept everyone's doors locked because it was easier for them. When I asked why she could not go to her room, they said because they couldn't get her out. My Gosh, she was in a wheelchair, they could just roll her out. There was one particular CP that when she would get my Mother ready for bed. I could hear my Mother screaming. Only with this lady. I spoke to someone in the office to request she not be assigned to my Mother. My mother told me that she pinched her and had the marks on her arms to show. She also said she would punch her in the stomach. The manager said she would take care of it. Next time I was in town, she was still her PC. For a period of time, my Mother was having falls early in the morning. When my sister spoke to someone to see why this was happening, they told her it was because they got her up at 5am and she was left alone because it was around the time the staff changed. My sister asked why they would get her up at 5 and was told that the family requested it. We asked that they not wake her up before 8, and not to worry about breakfast, we would rather let her sleep. She was never an early riser and never wanted to eat first thing.

This review is for relative newbies like me to the 55 & over crowd. In chatting with our delightful…read moremanager the other day, corporate has been modestly soliciting reviews & I'm all too happy to do so. The most salient aspect of Evergreen is something most people don't even think about; they are a local concern as opposed to national, so not owned by some outside interest. This means hands-down better management, less cost, and sincere attention to the 'Standard of Living' experience. Evergreen values its reputation & you see a conspicuous full case of well-earned awards right there at the front door to prove it. I try to be rather descriptive below, and do so to express how refreshing it was upon moving in to come to a property where the care & concern for the residents is so palpably genuine... To wit: Facility: The grounds are meticulously kept. You see that a lot around town yes, except here it's actually 24-7 two-up clean & tidy. The pool area is quaint and beautifully appointed; on a summer evening for example it's a perfect conversational get-away and no mosquitoes (!)... Typical amenities abound, except here they're always carefully maintained & by golly everything works. First-rate gym equipment, spotless game room w/ pool table, meeting/library rooms, a general group gathering/rec area that also has a clean, fully equipped kitchen. This location also has a secured easy-access parking garage with larger spaces; hence getting in & out of the car is a snap. There's no assigned spaces other than handicaps so you always have a convenient spot every time. Notably, the tow-truck gangs are not allowed to come hunting here so never a worry on that end either. Location: Tucked away in the southwest corner of Farmers Branch, traffic getting to local grocery, retail, and dining is non-existent. Everything necessary for your day to day is a couple miles away or less, and the facility even has a shuttle service for that too. Overall the surrounding area is uniquely safe & peaceful, and Farmers Branch Police are without question the best of all of the Dallas suburbs. There are also miles of walking & riding trails immediately adjacent. Community: Best neighbors ever! Ages run the gamut & are mostly women. Personal get-togethers are constant, open-invitation, and a variety of groups have formed over time for gaming, hang-outs & what-nots... Sponsored holiday events & varietal programs of interest are recurrently orchestrated by management and depending on the topic are geared toward appropriate members of the community accordingly. Residency: Subtle niceties avail themselves once you're getting settled in... You discover there was no skimping on convenience or privacy here. Little things like a plug always right where you need one, abundant pre-installed lighting, a roomy ambience with superior sound insulation to boot. In simple terms, the floor plans were well thought-out and in this price-range are likely unbeatable. On a Personal Note: I moved in here because I could, primarily to address the increasing needs of my mother who had been a resident here past 10 years. Though titled as a senior community, the fact is this place is a hidden gem. I've known many of the residents here for years, as well as the management over time. The service here is unmatched. The cost/value ratio also unbeatable. Most apartment communities are of course geared toward a different crowd; so getting away from certain annoyances of modern communal living, (take your pick) has been a real treat. If for yourself or a loved one you're looking into this category of residence, I fervently endorse the Evergreen brand, and if this specific location is convenient, start here... Note: The pictures available on the net are from initial construction. The landscaping is well developed now and far superior to what the pictures show...

READ THIS REVIEW!!!! Best place for your parents! Hands…read moredown! My parents have been at The Forum for years. They started out in IL (independent living) and 3 years ago we lost Dad and Mom moved into DL (dependent living). All buildings are connected so Mom gets to see old friends at Sunday Brunch. (She is 93 now.) She has made many new friends in the DL building who are charming and so nice to her. I'm writing this because over the last 5-6 months I've been joining Mom for Happy Hour and have gotten to know her friends. I can't tell you how many stories I hear them share about other facilities in Dallas (Austin and Houston too) about how bad the food is and how they themselves (or friends) are ignored and not cared for. They told be several times that when they tell people how awesome everything is at The Forum... their friends don't believe it!! LOL, LOL. Well... it's true! Yes, I confess I take Mom to Sunday Brunch so I can get one of the best omelets in Dallas (in the IL building) and the rest of the food is so nice. My sisters take guests and we always celebrate birthdays and holidays at Sunday Brunch. Enough about that. Let's get to the brass tacks. The staff is probably the best I've ever encountered. If I'm with Mon and she has an ache and needs some Tylenol, I call the front desk and the nurse brings it to her within 15 min or so. VERY RESPONSIVE!! (Abbey is so awesome!) Mom has a Help Watch on her arm and can press the button and help comes immediately. As well, the staff will call me with every incident (like sliding out of her chair, etc.) Major or minor - they update the family immediately. AWESOME! Ok. So you are looking for a place for your parents. Absolutely check out The Forum. Have frank and direct conversations with the staff who show you around (and see if you can pay to sample the Sunday Buffet!!) Our family has so much peace knowing even the cleaning people care about a quality job and if they observe anything that needs attention - they alert the right people. I personally feel indebted to The Forum. THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF MY MOM!!!!!!

All of the staff, especially Stephanie Duke and the executive director Robbie, have made us feel so welcome and at home. I've eaten two meals with my parents here and to see the looks on their faces when they actually like what they are eating plus have the ability for more flexible dining hours is just amazing. The staff has been incredibly responsive to inquiries, the lease was easy to read and the speed at which they have helped my parents be ready for their move in is amazing. Debbie Stalling is the "business director" at this location. Valentina Rico is one of 3 concierge that man the front desk. I worked here as a temp at this location. Wednesday August, 17 2022 there was a statement from Valentina Rico in the concierge report saying "A resident was found slumped over in his apartment by his son". After taking his dad to the hospital he told Ms. Rico that his dad was Covid +, no actions were taken. This aroused my suspicion as well as the safety of other co-workers and residents because of the daily close contact. After bringing this to Ms. Rico and Ms. Stallings attention the report was deleted from the system on Friday August 19, 2022. They told me it wasn't covid and it was some other medical related issue. Monday August, 22 2022 I received a call from a family memeber of yet another resident stating that her dad was rushed to the hospital over the weekend, he tested positive for covid as well. She also stated that we should make the residents and staff aware because of the individuals that dine in the dinning room (187 occupancy) and that participate in the daily activities. Again this was brought to Ms. Stallings attention no immediate actions were taken. After hearing this information i put on a mask. Ms. Stallings ask me to remove my mask because it could put the residents on alert. Ms. Stallings questioned me for trying to protect myself and others. Ms. Stallings informed me that she contacted "Staci" at corporate to see what protocol should be executed at that time. Ms. Stallings behavior as a ""Business Director" is highly questionable, being that she has a hard time performing her job duties that require moving away from the desk. It seems that everything was done to sweep this under the carpet. I have called corporate about this, Jessica wasn't much help. I spoke with Toni Howard, an HR Partner. This is very frustrating knowing whats at hand and they are responsible for all these seniors. The resident and co-workers have all been put at risk. These are people's parents here and your employees. Other things that have occurred here is for another audience.
