Our first time skiing at Sunrise was great, even though there were only a few runs open. When we went they had just got some fresh snow that week so there was some powder and it was way better than how Snowbowl is right now. They had about 3 green Trails open and 1 blue trail open (it felt more like a black to me, but apparently they call it a double blue- No name). The ticket prices are very reasonable and last I checked they are a consistent price and don't change. The quality of the rentals here were also GREAT. They use an awesome brand Rossignol. The boots felt nice and comfy, good quality, and so were the skis and poles. We did a 2 day rental which made everything easier, we got to use our same equipment both days. They have a few restaurants at Sunrise which is very cool, we only got to try the one at the base though. They don't have many healthy food options though, but the food was good. They have a variety of burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, fries and such. It definitely was super busy on a Saturday compared to a Friday, but we had a good time! They also have these cards for the ski lift where an employee doesn't have to personally scan you every time which made things much more easy and convenient.

Went up with the kids over the Labor Day weekend. The weekend goals were fishing, disc golf at the resort and then ride the new coaster. We had never been here so we didn't know what to expect. For the disc golf we had a nice ride up the ski lift and went on to play the disc course. That's when things went south. The course starts ok but then maybe five holes in it devolves into fruitlessly searching for pads and baskets. Where eventually we gave up and walked the rest of the way downhill dodging mountain bikes in the process. We could only find maybe nine holes. And then it got worse when we looked at the line for the coaster which we bought 3 ride tickets totaling over 100 dollars for the three of us. The line looked to be at least a 2 and a half hours. After some arguing we decided to just leave even with the knowledge they offer no refunds but rain checks. We weren't coming back. The ticketing experience leaves a lot to be desired. I purchased my tickets online but they still require you to wait in a long line to get your wristbands. It defeats the purpose of the convenience of buying online. Dining options are also what I would say is very limited. I wonder where the money goes they are making. Enough of it isn't going into the resort. They oversold the coaster tickets. They never finished the disc golf course. They have no real dining options and their no refund policy makes all the more feeling like a rip off.

Went back in 2023 while in Phoneix area for work. I am from Michigan and ski, but the mountains out east are not great and I grew up on groomed paths that tended to be icy so that is unfortunately my comfort zone. My friend and I went to go to the Snowbowl, but due to a snow storm all the roads to sunrise were closed and we where halfway out to Sunrise. There were a lot of trails and overall it wasn't too busy. That being said not many were groomed and there weren't many beginner friendly options. My friend wasn't as good so it made it kind of difficult, however, throughout the day I definitely was able to find favorites and navigate the park sticking to mainly greens and blues.

An amazing park that is operated so well. The snow is gorgeous, all around of the facilities are clean and organized, and all of the activities and concessions are affordable. We had three wonderful days of tubing, skiing, and snowshoeing. The lifts are awesome, and the runs are well groomed. So much fun!!!

The Sunrise coaster is so fun! Sunrise offered buy 2 get 1 so we rode it 6 times total! The last ride we did tandem & flew down the coaster. Highly recommend tandem for more speed!! Fyi, secure your hats etc. My hat flew off when we rode tandem & I barely snagged it. Sunrise did a great job w this coaster!!

Third time here. We came for the summer adventure pass but have also been here to snowboard. Every time the staff is what makes our experience great. Thank you to birdy and rose during our zip line adventure, a crazy (good) zip line! Definitely will be back to get snowboarding lessons from birdy! Also a big thank you to the guys at the coaster! You all helped us have a great time today! Also honorable mention to Neo, all three rules we ran into him and he remembered us! Neo is awesome!

This was my first time ever skiing or doing any sort of winter sport so my review may be bias. I had a wonderful time. The lifts were quick. The employees were friendly and helpful. The first aid dudes were helpful and attentive. (We didn't need them but saw him along his way) I want to go back already, and have my daughter take lessons so I can just go down with my husband. There was a bus that picked us up from our car and took us back! Not that it was very far. But it was still helpful. And there was a rock wall and zip line. Fun stuff.

This is my first time here & I won't be back. This place is so unorganized it's unreal. Save your money & go somewhere else. Waiting in 45 minute lines for a day pass you already purchased online is insane. Then another hour in the rental line. All this on a Tuesday, unreal. Honestly if I would've known it was this unorganized I would've went somewhere else. Quick update: I arrived at 8:45 (park opens at 9) it is now 10:30 & I have been in lines since I arrived. I am still in line to get my rental equipment.

Went skiing for the first time and had lessons with Cory. If y'all see me and my bestie in the skiing Olympics don't be shocked. My other friend had snowboarding lessons with DJ. She's literally the next Shawn White now. Jason was also amazing and so helpful. The staff made my first time ski experience so amazing I would highly recommend to anybody.

Every year this place gets worse. They have not been putting money into anything in the mountain for years. There is no need to go the rest of the winter season. Almost all the runs are ice & exposed rock. No powder anywhere. They only make a small amount of snow on one run. The lifts break or are not running almost everyday. Now because if covid there is no seating & limited menu in main lodge. Bar is not open. The policy is to where a mask in the public spaces but 90% of the people at the base & in the lodge are not wearing masks. There's a long line to buy ticketed at the ticket windows. Won't be back until they start making more snow read more
We spent the long (4th of July) weekend in Pinetop, and since there's only so much one can do in Pinetop, we decided to explore some nearby towns as well. During one of our daytrips, I sat in the back seat reading some chick lit, totally not paying attention to where we were heading or even listening to the conversation going on with the other three people in the truck. But when I felt the truck coming to a stop, I looked up and saw that we were in the parking lot of Sunrise Park Resort. We weren't the only ones either; the parking lot was jam packed with other people... most of them had bows and arrows in their hands too! We got out only to learn that there was a 3-D Archery Shoot Out competition going on that day. It looked like fun if you're the archery type! But since we forgot our bows and arrows, we didn't participate in that... We did however, take the scenic lift ride up the mountain to the "restaurant" on top. It was a scenic ride, and we enjoyed it but were disappointed that the so-called restaurant was a mere little snack shack with chips, candy, soda, and beer... oh well! Was it still fun? Hell, yes! Was it worth $10 a head for the scenic lift? Maybe not... Would I do it again? Possibly... maybe in the winter when I can ski. Am I glad I went? For sure! Sunrise Park Resort offers other activities year-around such as horseshoe tournaments, fireworks, horseback riding, disc golf, mountain biking, etc... and of course skiing and snowboarding in the winter. I recommend checking out their website for the latest events next time you're in the area. read more

Don't listen to the haters. Yes, it gets busy. The people running the place a friendly and chatty even if not always the fastest. They do a good job overall. It's a much quieter alternative to Snowbowl. The shorter lift lines, less obnoxious college kids, and way way longer runs (longest 5 miles vs 2 miles at Snowbowl) make it worth the drive. Incidentally the drive is nice too as I-17 is always a mess! read more

Beautiful location in the White Mountains. Price is reasonable and virtually no lines for lifts mid-week. An hour further from Phoenix than Snow Bowl but you will get a lot more skiing in. read more

If you are planning on going to sunrise resort to snowboard or ski I would go somewhere else. Bought everything online 2 months ahead that includes the rental and ALL DAY ticket. Showed up at 9am as soon as they opened and still had to wait in an outside line for 1.5 hours just to get our lift card scanned. It is now 1030-1040 and we are still waiting in line for rentals. The lines were so unorganized nobody had no idea which line was which. Still in line at 1230pm half the day is now over and we paid for a ALL DAY ticket. I asked the cashier person if this was acceptable to buy an all day pass and only be able to ski until 4pm when it is now 1pm she immediately got security and told me to leave. As the security guard was PUSHING me outside he said that's why we bust a cap in people like you all because I stated it was not fair they get to keep my money. NEVER EVER GOING BACK read more

Would do Zero stars if possible. In 2023 they upgraded to a RFI pass. They are having issues getting your new card to you. Got to the mountain at 9:30am. Waited in line for two hours to get the pass. Sunrise is well known for having difficulties with any technological advancement, but this is insane. Everyone around me just wants to get a refund and go home. As always the employees and owner could care less. read more

Came here in the winter during opening weekend for skiing and snowboarding with a group of 8. The staff was rude and did not listen to requests. We asked for small sized gear and we're literally given XL for example. Moreover, the hills are great for all skill levels but prepare to bring your own gear because they ran out of snow pants and goggles and there were maybe only a couple other groups on the slopes. Overall wouldn't recommend this lodge for a ski trip, especially if you are traveling to come here. read more

Went hiking on Sept 3 and completed the loop, approx 15 miles in one day. Start early if this is what you're going to do or like most, camp out by the meadows and hike up the next day. We camped at Winn Campgrounds close by, $14/night. The views on the West Baldy trail are better but the enormous rock views at the beginning of the East trail are neat as well. You'll hit an elevation of nearly 12,000 feet do get acclimated. This is the second highest peak in AZ to hike. read more

Purchased day pass for skiing and rentals, filled out waiver online. Get here at 9am. Husband goes to pick up passes, separate building, I go get in line for rentals. Get to the front of line & they can't help us until we have the passes. Then have to get in back of rental line after you get the passes. Start all over again. It is now 11 am and STILL in line! Staff is rude, unhelpful, slow. Don't come here. We have 6 people in our group. read more

Trails and accommodations were great, but the power went out across the entire resort while I was eating lunch. They never got it back up and running. Drove 3.5 hours to get here and paid for a full-day pass, but I only got about two hours and six runs in. read more

Not ran well. Don't bother making reservations. You'll wait in your car with reservations for minimum two hours just to get to the front and be told it's too packed. Having been so unorganized, we just kept driving after getting to the front parked to ge your money back but they don't communicate and just gave us passses... even tho they're too packed...lines are insane and everyone cuts... read more

Have to update this. Cyclone lift has been closed for two years and in that time period, it seems like management has gone downhill as well. Really hard to get a hold of anyone there and lots of inconsistent messages. Tempted to give this place two stars after this previous season. They shut down early and still won't have cyclone ready for next year. Such a shame. Better management and this place would be great. Flagstaff has turned it around, take a hint Sunrise. read more

This place is a joke. Bought tickets online but the parking lot was full so sat in the car for 2 hours waiting to park and then had to walk half a mile with our stuff. Get here and stand in line to get passes and are offered a whopping $16 refund even though we've lost more than half the day. $16 refund on $130. Find out there are no lockers available, I see that no where on the website, so now have to walk back to the effing car to drop off items. Employees are lazy, not helpful or sympathetic, not to mention this place is a dump. Save yourself the headache and go to flag. ***update*** I wanted to update my review from one star to 3 as my second day experience was much better. I'm still not pleased about the pathetic refund but the trails were pretty decent and once I knew what to expect I was able to prepare more. The food is mediocre at best and they really need to reopen the bar and lockers. Staff was more friendly the second day, perhaps the influx of visitors on Saturday had everyone in a bad mood. read more

This place was a lot of fun! My boyfriend and I went for his birthday. This my break down with my boyfriend's input. He has way more experience snow boarding. It was my first time snow boarding. Customer service: bleh. Few of the staff were friendly and personable. Most made very little conversation. Snowboarding school: Overall good! Ethan is an awesome instructor! He was open to questions and very patient! Haha.. Only one of the other instructors wasn't as enthusiastic. He may have been just ready to go home? But all the other instructors gave tips as you passed which was cool. Rental: The staff was helpful. They have snow pants too! The lady at the ski school area told me they only had XXL. I asked rental anyway and they had my size M and had an XS. Rented for $10. I rented boots and snowboard. Food: mediocre concession stand quality. $$ food price. $24 for 2 burgers, 2 arrow head waters, and a snickers. 2 draft beers $10 I'd go again but I'd make sure we pack a cooler. read more

Oh Sunrise, you're so nice! But you could be so much more! This park is by far the best in AZ as far as conditions and size goes. There are three different peaks that you can take off from, with the the easternmost peak (Sunrise peak) being the best as it is the only one with a high speed chair lift. The lift time for this peak is usually 5 minutes or less while their longest lift on the westernmost slope is gruelingly long, terribly slow, and has points where you may be hanging 100 feet above the snow with no safety bar. Because of the lifts, I tend to spend most (if not all) of my day hitting trails off the Sunrise peak. If this park were to add another high speed lift to their Cyclone or Apache peaks, it would be a huge improvement to the parks' overall allure. Next lets look at the facilities. The park actually has 5 different lodges located throughout the trails. The nicest of these is in the hardest to access area- the summit of Apache Peak. To get to this recently renovated lodge you must ride no less than 2 chair lifts as there are no direct lines from the bottom of the mountain to the top of this peak. So its a nice spot for lunch - if you can find it. Speaking of lunch, lets talk about their food service. Their menus vary from lodge to lodge so if you dont see anything appealing at one, you may want to try another. Heres the catch - none of their food is exactly "high quality." While I can usually manage to stuff some down my throat to recharge my fuel, I never look forward to the experience. I really wish they would reevaluate their systems here. Maybe contract out the work to another company or something, because they definitely dont know anything about restaurants. The lift ticket prices are generally very fair with a standard ticket costing $51. They give student discounts (not on weekends) and also have some special pricing during weekdays. I'd really like to see what this place could be if they brought in some new management / owners, but right now its still the best place to ski in AZ. read more

Went again, crazy that it's March and you can still go snowboarding. This time I went with my girlfriend Abby, all the lifts were open and we did almost every single run down the mountain. As always, this place is not crowded at all, on quite a few trails down we were the only people going down. As an update to my tip about the student discount, they either messed up the day we went or changed their policy and the college ID is only good for Monday-Friday. Either way, well worth the drive and we can't wait to go boarding again next season. read more

I just wanted to write about my experience at sunrise I arrived at the ticket counter at noon to get a lift pass I was informed it would be 15 minutes myself and a line of people where left there for over an hour and a half without a word when someone did finally come we where informed they didn't fix the issue we were being turned away this is the second time this has happened I was disgruntled I was then treated like shit by the staff and told to go home rather than fix anything they just kicked us out and threatened to ban us all I spend 210 a week here on lift tickets and they still treated me like crap don't waste your money or time here go to snow bowl I will continue to leave bad reviews on every outlet I can find read more

So let's be clear, we stayed at this hotel because of how close it is to the mountain runs and lifts. That's it. I've been here before so I knew what we were getting into, but if you haven't then keep these things in mind: - The beds aren't that comfortable - The walls are super thin and you can hear everyone inside and outside - The food isn't that good (but thankfully low priced) - The place itself could probably use a remodel - We caught a mice the first time we were there in the common area... - It's honestly more like a motel than anything The reason for it not being 1 star is that the staff is super friendly, and they offer some good bundles if you come with a big group (like having stay, rentals, and lift tickets all together). If you're looking for a nice place to stay just get an AirBnB in town and be prepared to drive 45 mins to get up the mountain. read more
I was really looking forward to checking out this mountain for a weekend of skiing, especially because it has been snowing like crazy for the last week, but I was really disappointed. When we got to the parking lot it wasn't plowed AT ALL! Everyone was getting stuck and needing to use everyone else to help push out just to get parked. I had no idea how we were going to get out at the end of the day, but was hopeful that they would plow it through out the day. NOPE! It was only deeper snow when we left! Thankfully we dug ourselves out before we got too stuck, but this is definitely something that any good mountain should know about. Plow your flipping parking lot! Then we waited atleast 30 minutes at the ticket window to get our lift tickets. Not sure why it was taking so long, but maybe they need more people working the ticket windows. We finally get up to the top and the snow is soooo deep and barely any runs were groomed at all, which made it difficult to ski as well. Then, the lodge up top was out of beer and many of the food items. All they had was fry bread tacos. All in all, not how I expected my winter getaway ski weekend to go. Not sure if I'll make the effort to try it out again. read more
Snowboarded two days here last weekend. It was my first time so I signed up for a half-day lesson. That was a mistake. The instructor was NOT good and I barely learned anything during the 90 min lesson. Plus our group was way too large (10 people) so we all ended up sitting or standing around most of the time. At one point our instructor disappeared somewhere and the whole class was sitting at the top of the bunny hill for ten minutes just waiting! Luckily, I had a friend who was an experienced snowboarder and he took me down the green slope later and gave me lots of pointers. He was so much better than our instructor. The conditions of the slopes were good (well, I can only vouch for the greens and the bunny hill). My friend who does the blacks seemed to love them. He did 11 runs (15 miles) in half a day, so for those complaining about slow lifts, it is possible to still get a lot of runs in. My only complaint was there was TOO much powder that I would have to dig myself out of after falling, but that's the fault of the weather, not the park. I'll definitely be back here again. It's a great deal for beginners because the lift tickets are cheap (compared to CO or UT) and really as a beginner, you're only going to be hitting a few green slopes anyway. The inside of the lodge is not very nice, but that's pretty much what I expect at any ski lodge. The bathrooms were actually cleaner than I expected, so that was a plus. They also seemed to clean the bathrooms pretty frequently (at least 3 times a day that I noticed). read more

It hasn't gotten any better. If anything my previous review was generous. The food has gotten worse in both the main Sunrise base lodge and the mid-mountain lodge. Last weekend the chair lift on Apache Peak wasn't running but they were using the snowcats instead. Maybe that would be a blessing so your legs don't loose circulation after sitting on that excruciatingly slooooow chairlift. The rumor from a ski patrolman was that they "might" be breaking ground this summer on a new ski-in/ski-out lodge at the base of Sunrise mountain. If that's the case, what about the old decrepit lifts? Last weekend their star workhorse lift, the main Sunrise lift, died and had to be fixed. Luckily they were able to fire up the old Rustler lift which when it's running I prefer anyways because I don't have to deal with the beginners at the bottom of the mountain. Anyways, the idea of paying extra on your season pass to ride a snowcat where you once had a chairlift, and yes I'm talking about the ghost Cyclone chair, was a stupid idea. Instead of paying God knows how much for these snowcats they could have instead invested that money into new chairlifts. By default, because we are Arizona residents and have a vacation home in Pinetop we will be back. And despite this negative review we are rooting for you Sunrise. read more

I think this resort is a blessing for us in Arizona. Yes, the resort's infrastructure needs updating (buildings, decor, furniture) but the mountain is outstanding. The WMAT seems to be turning things around and highly updated snowmaking will help in those frequent years of drought in the future. I skied last weekend and never waited more than 3 minutes in a lift line and got great service at the rental shop. The runs were groomed well. Would like to see more food offerings and the bathrooms operational at the Sunrise Peak lodge. Also, it'd be nice if other skiers/boarders didn't have to play music for EVERYONE on their external speakers. Otherwise, keep improving things, Sunrise management, you are on your way!!! read more

Guys seriously?!? Great day on the mountain but having an entire parking lot of solid ice is f'n ridiculous. As a word of humble advice pretty much every other ski resort on earth doesn't try to kill their attendees before or after shredding. I literally witnessed multiple people hit the deck today walking to and from their vehicles. It should go without saying that it may not be a bad idea to either A. Have a plow run through the lot at 8:30 a.m. to scrape and spread dirt so your patrons don't risk injuries or B. Post on your website to bring crampons and an ice axe to get to and from your car. read more

Im giving this place 5 stars only because of the employees and the instructors .Nigel the instructor was so good with the kids and with my husband .they went snowboard for the first time and they had a great time .he took his time to explain and was really patient with them and run up and down the sloop to catch them .They learned it and they are ready to go back . the only thing that bother me was the kitchen and the toilets ,toilets were REALLY dirty with no paper for the sit ,and the kitchen employees are Not nice and very rude . over all its a very nice place read more

Just average-some good some bad. First day the parking lot was not plowed earlier in the day so cars getting stuck; long lines at ticket booth and no indications where to go if you pre-purchased tickets online; lodge at bottom had only one cashier during lunch time; Cyclone lift closed and various runs not groomed; lifts extremely slow and kept stopping. The second day was excellent since the weather was cooperative. They had plowed the parking lot, offered a Snow Cat up the third mtn in place of non-existent Cyclone life; very friendly staff at all the lodges and working the lifts. Not sure if I'll come back up until they modernize the lifts and ALL lifts are groomed and open. read more
I don't ski but we went up to play in the snow and visited the lodge. What a disappointment this place is. The surrounding area is gorgeous and could be a first class destination but sadly it is old rundown and in need of repair and modernizing. The last time I was there was the early 90's and it was old and rundown then. I don't think they have done anything to update since that time. Very sad. But on the plus side the ladies bathroom was clean. read more

Went to rent 3 mountain bikes and upon arrival we were told that all of the online prices were wrong and that they were much more expensive and that there would be $100 deposit 1/2 refundable on each bike. 2 out of 3 bikes fell apart. 1 bikes front axle fell right out and the front tire came off, 2nd bikes crank arm fell off and was completely stripped. Asked for the deposit back because of their faulty equipment and were told "that's not how it works". Super shady place and staff. read more

The last two season's at Sunrise have been great. I feel the spirit and charm of this place is definitely in tact. Cyclone closing was a bummer....that is until we discovered how easy it is to access it. I almost don't want to reveal this because it's so rad. A short 50 yard hike and you literally have an entire mountain to yourself...and maybe a few others, depending on the snow cat crew. It's not patrolled, so be sure to ski or board with a partner. The front mountain is always a good time, and you can get lots of runs in. The patrol was super smart and put up a net at the bottom of Nastar to control peoples speed, which made that converge area much safer. That was always a concern of mine with kids...nice job guys! The ticket prices went up a bit, but the season pass is reasonable, and with a short 3.5 or so drive from the valley, it's well worth it. Flag is nice, but the time you save in lines, parking crowds etc makes it worth the extra travel time in my opinion. I've heard some great new ideas in the works and the future looks bright. I'm a little bias, seeing that I've been skiing here since I was 3yo, but I just love this place. Something about how everything is on Rez time, and how it's just shitty enough to keep the crowds away make it great. Now I've skied all over and most resorts I go to are way superior, but they aren't 4hrs from my door. You can get a lot of runs in on a slow day on Sunrise Peak, but it's limited when it comes challenging yourself. Cyclone has far superior runs (when snow permits) and a handful of technical lines and drops. The downside is that it's a super slow lift that is older than me and your legs will fall asleep on a cold day. So the advise is with great conditions, Cyclone is amazing, but if it's not to great stick to Sunrise and get a bunch of runs in. A more few tips: Get there early and park at the Cyclone base, front row parking most of the time. Indian Tacos with all the fixins at the Sunrise Lodge is a must. The bar says no outside food, f that, I usually bring my own beer. One more note, I can't believe Gabi's review of Sunrise in the summer. That would be like the Griswold's leaving a review for Wally World. read more
Oh Sunrise....it's a love hate relationship. The Good: Of the 2 mountains in Arizona, Sunrise and Snowbowl, Sunrise wins almost in every category except a few (look in the bad section). The terrain is vast...they have high speed lifts...they have better snow making! They actually have a resort on site...now I don't know if I would ever stay there but it's there... I usually stay at the casino which has stay and ski packages that save you a lot of money. The rooms are decent and there is a Casino!! What could be wrong with that? The cyclone area is my favorite...as others have said park there and then ski over to the other parts of the mountain. Even a few days after a big dump (large snow storm) there are areas that are untouched on the cyclone side. They actually have a lodge that is not at the base of the mountain (they have multiple lodges)...it's overpriced like all of them but it's cool to eat and especially drink up there. The Bad: Now the bad things related to this mountain will often scare most away but just TRY to look past them. The people...the natives do not seem to like anyone that is not like them. They are rude and very mean sometimes. They frequent most jobs spots at the resort. This is just an observation, I am sure there are nice natives but sunrise might not be the place to find them. The drive from phoenix sucks! When the roads are bad it's quite dangerous! Do not do it at night if you can help it. Try to bring a friend or do a bus trip through Alpine or another Charter company. Overall: It's a great alternative to Snowbowl...its somewhere that can't be done 100% in one day (I have done it but it was to win a bet and not to enjoy myself). Hint: When it snows a lot; Go here instead of all the yahoos that are going to Snowbowl from phoenix, or don't...more powder for me! Make a weekend of it or perhaps a longer stay and Go Big!! read more
There are a lot of complaints about the management and their unwillingness to make Sunrise anything other than a cash cow. Apparently, hell will freeze before they refund you for anything or put money back into the resort. Sunrise has only one high speed lift, and usually has massive lines due to locals and Phoenicians up for the weekend. The good news is that there are three peaks (Sunrise, Apache, Cyclone), so the crowd does fan out a bit. During heavy snow, expect well-groomed slopes. If there hasn't been snow in a while, Sunrise does make some snow, but only on specific runs, so expects lots of rocks and tree chutes. Also, renting at the base is pretty easy, but the quality of the rentals isn't up to par with CO resorts. read more

Sunrise Ski Resort has some of the finest ski conditions and facilities in Arizona. We have lived in the White Mountains for over 20 years and love the skiing and activities in the local area. We will be leaving this beautiful community soon and selling our log home. If you're interested in living in the White Mountains, check out our website at https://www.awoodlandcabin.com/ read more

The people were all very friendly and the resort was only minutes away from the mountain. A bit overpriced for the amenities. The decor has definitely not been touched since the the 1980's. I recommend bringing your own pillows and negotiating the price of the room. The skiing made everything well worth it. There are many lifts and it was not too crowded. Each lift serviced all levels and you could easily make your way around all three mountains. I would definitely recommend the mountain to any level skier/snowboarder. read more
Came this weekend for the first time & it was super fun! Got to the park on Sat morning around 11AM &stood in a long line for rentals (~20 minutes or so). They were only $35 for everything which wasn't bad at all. Then its kind of a mess getting the boots & skis and trying them on in the small area they have. People & their stuff are EVERYWHERE. But once that's done you're good! The lines to the lifts weren't terrible. But the line to get food at the restaurant was insane. We were about to wait until someone told us it took them an HOUR. No thanks! We opted for the restaurant at the half way up of the mountain. The slopes were fun. Next time I would try to come during the week for less of a crowd. But, I would recommend this place & cant wait to come back. read more

The staff here is very friendly but that is about all this hotel has going for them. We visited here in the summer. It's a quiet serene location. The hotel is very run down. The room we booked was $89/night for 2 queen beds. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. They were dirty too. There is no air conditioning in the entire hotel. That may be great for the winter time but it is uncomfortable during the summer, especially since the windows can't be opened. There is no screen on the one window that was in the room. When I opened it there were many critters waiting to get in. After the 1st night the staff was able to locate a fan for us. That made it better but not good. We at breakfast at the red on site which was reasonably priced. The waitress was nice and quantities were good. Food was ok. Like the rest of the hotel it was hot and there were dead moths all over the floor. The whole place just needs a makeover. I would prefer staying somewhere else next time. read more

Likely not. Sunrise usually gets enough snow to open around Thanksgiving or the first two weeks of December. The currently scheduled opening date for Winter 2023/24 is December 1. That could change depending on weather, so keep posted to the website… Read more

Sunrise has better runs and is less crowded than Snowbowl. The hotel lodge is a little old but is charming and provides free shuttle to the ski resort. We enjoyed the mountain but had a really bad experience with the ski school. We signed up for private snowboard lessons because my son is not a confident child when it comes to sports and we thought a private lesson would be less pressure than trying to keep up with a group class. We thought we could receive specialized instruction and learn at our own pace. Our instructor Jacob became irritated with my son because he wasn't picking it up. I watched Jacob watch my son fall continuously and didn't step in to help him. He would give verbal instructions, but sometimes it's hard to turn words into actions when you're learning for the first time, and more so for a child. Not everyone learns at the same rate. As my son worked his way down on his own Jacob tells me my son is not listening to him and that he has the right to drop him from the lesson if he doesn't listen. My son was not talking back, not throwing a tantrum ... the worst he did was complain that he couldn't get it and he was hurting from falling so much. Not getting it is not the same as not listening. Jacob threatening to kick my son out was completely inappropriate. I watched another instructor with a group of about 15 people receive more personal attention than what we received from Jacob. My son became so discouraged and intimidated by Jacob, that he refused to finish the lesson and sat out the last hour. Next day I filed a complaint, describing everything in more detail than above, and stated that Jacob should be retrained as an instructor, because my child was traumatized by the experience. I have to give credit to the ski school director because he was sympathetic and helped smooth out the situation and redeem Sunrise by offering to refund both our lessons. I was impressed with the director but didn't want to take advantage of the situation so I accepted the refund for my son's lesson only and a free lesson for the next time we return. We will return and will try another lesson. I hope there will be difference for the better. read more

We are regulars of Sunrise, But we will not be coming back to stay at the hotel, due to your workers there.. They are so rude!! Especially the front desk lady, I think her name is Twilla. She is VERY rude and obnoxious! She's always walking g around and not doing nothing and when asked has an attitude. She also keeps flirting with guests husbands and coworkers. We won't be coming back and will let our friends know not to go until she is gone! Thank you! read more

Don't buy your lift passes online. Arrived late to the mountain with my kids. No refunds on the full day for half day arrival. The customer service messaging was horrible basically saying it's my fault for arriving late. Then they rubbed it in my face that everyone says they want come back but the mountain is still full by some miracle. I actually laughed out loud - and said thanks for pointing out your monopoly position requires no customer service. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. Few things me and my fiancée experienced. 1. Extreme noise at all hours of the night. Anytime your upstairs neighbor decides to take a shit you will hear it even if you are in a dead sleep. 2. Dirty towels and moldy floors 3. SHITY fucking disgusting food. DO NOT EAT AT RESTAURANT inside. I did get sick. 4. Unfriendly incompetent staff 5. Roaches everywhere 6. Overpriced. read more
