Can we give more than 5 stars? Tina is some sort of doggy angel. I dropped off my very (very!) anxious puppy for a 3 day overnight stay while I was on a business trip. He had never stayed away and has separation anxiety. He was a challenge and they never made me feel bad, they would call me with updates and positive news and offered to work together to help getting him settled. I drop him off once or twice a week for daycare so he can get used to it. I've seen a HUGE improvement in just a couple of weeks. Big shout out to Nate as well who has been managing my little monster. Tina is full of love and knowledge, I've been a dog owner my entire life and already made a few changes based on her recommendation. We are so happy that we found Tina Seri and Sunrun Kennels. They are amazing and helped our very anxious reactive pup Fleurty while we were on vacation for two weeks in Scotland. We were supposed to have the trainer that was working with us watch her but it fell through unexpectedly. We were so stressed out as we had less than a month to find an alternative. We had tried evaluations at some other boarding facilities, but I think it just further traumatized my dog as they don't have patience or know how to care for dogs that may need a little more attention or have fearfulness with new places, people and dogs. They just put them all together and expect them to adapt in that 2-5 hour window. If they don't the answer is no.....sigh The staff Tina, Javier and Cheyenne at Sunrun took excellent care of Fleurty and kept us updated on her progress via email and facebook posts. It was great to see videos of her playing too. She had so much fun and made new friends which really warmed our hearts. Tina is an angel. With love and patience really took the time with Fleurty to help her understand that not all humans are bad. We got her as a rescue and still don't know what happened to her to cause her fears. Tina also fosters pugs that have been rescued. She even took in a dog that owners decided they no longer wanted and left at the kennel. They said to give the dog to animal control because they didn't want her anymore. So very sad. Humans can be awful and shouldn't take the responsibility of owning a pet if they can't deal with the good and bad things. Tina had them release the dog to her and has her still. :-) That's a special person to take on an elderly and sick animal. We will be bringing Fleurty by for monthly visits to keep her familiar with the kennel and I'm sure she'll be happy to see Tina to give her kisses and play with her friends there. Thank you again. I kept my dog there for a week while I went out of town a couple of weeks ago. I left him under the supervision of Tina, which is the owner. When I came back from my trip, he scurried his way back into the car and I noticed that he had been whimpering the entire time home since we picked him up. My dog is very anxious, so when thrown in a kennel with other dogs where they jumped on him constantly and started barking throughout the entire day, he starts whimpering and shaking profusely. My dog came back with scratches on his scruff, and I noticed that when I picked him up from the kennel, he was put in a tiny, confined cage by himself due to, "being too aggressive with the other dogs". We brought our puppy for 3 days of daycare. Recommended through a friend. Our puppy was a little skittish of new places and people so he needed some extra attention and love. First day went okay - our dog was really nervous and new he just needed some time to get familiar with everyone. 2nd day, it seemed as though our pup couldn't get out fast enough when we was picked up. The third and last day, we picked him up and he seemed really nervous. I also brought a blanket and some toys for him each day for his kennel time. When he was picked up on the 3rd day, his blanket smelled very strongly of pee. I'm not sure what happened, but our dog never has peed on anything at home. Overall, the pricing is good, but just wasn't a good fit for our dog. read more

'Mama Tina" and her crew at Sunrun Kennels took excellent care of our 2 aging doxie boys. We moved to SoCal from Ohio where we always had an in-home dogsitter. We could not find one so went on the difficult search for the best kennel in the area and that's when we found Tina. With over 30 some years in dog rescue, vast knowledge of what dogs need and want and a compassionate heart, she handled our dogs 'special needs' with their meds, pain issues etc. We were gone almost 3 weeks and just about canceled the trip we were so sad to leave them but we are so glad we did. She posted photos of the boys quite a few days for us for our peace of mind and responded to a couple emails from us right away. She has vets at her fingertips should she need one in an emergency. She even had to go buy our special food since we undercalculated. I really like that each dog gets their own private air conditioned kennel with their own indoor portion and a door to their own outdoor portion. We were able to bring their crates and blankets from home too. We drive over 1 hour each way to Sunrun and it is so worth the journey. Now we feel like we can travel more and the boys have a 2nd home away from home. We call it their "Summer Camp". I could not give a higher recommendation than Sunrun Kennels. I luv this place and the dogs do too LOL!!! Lucky for me Dana who works there was my dogs trainer. So I was very happy and didnt hesitate bringing my kids here. Its definitely far from where I live in GG but I work just 10min away from here so it works our perfectly. Because of the distance I've only used them for boarding. I have gone on short and long trips and each time the kids are well taken care of and so happy when they come out to go home. I started out with one dog and have recently added another. I checked my two dogs in during the Memorial Day weekend for three nights. My two pug mix were happy and relaxed after they came back. They smelled clean and nice (no bath). My pug corgi mix Punku (27 pounds) played a lot with other dogs and he was soooooo happy. Punku goes to the dog park and it takes him a very long time to warm up and play with other dogs, usually more than a hour. I will even consider taking him in for a day care so he can play! Service: excellent. The staffs love dogs and they care about the dogs. Environment: nice and clean. We went in and walked around during our first visit. The dogs were calm. IF YOU LOVE YOUR FURBABY, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. My boyfriend had used them in the past, but we will not be bringing them back here ever again. First off, they are so rude. No smiles, no good words, just here's your stuff and sign here. Clearly not dog people. We dropped off our two boys Thursday morning and picked them up 3 days later on Sunday. During all that time, they were caged in their kennels and weren't allowed to move freely, because they supposedly didn't have their Bordetella shot. This was not true - they have all their shots and we double checked with our vet today to make sure we weren't missing any. It's clearly checked off in their charts. The most frustrating part was that they didn't call/text/email us to let us know their movement would be restricted. I have to take my dog out once or twice a day to run him, so being stuck in a cage was horrible for him. They also smelled horrible!! I had to drive with the windows open because the odor was so strong. When I finally got them in the tub, the water was filthy. Good lord, they were so dirty, I had to wash them twice. This gives me reason to suspect that they didn't let them out frequently enough to relieve them and they didn't clean their kennels once they had soiled themselves. That's disgusting and poses health risks. The real icing on the cake was when they came home starved. We gave them twice the food we usually do because they were so hungry. That tells me they didn't feed them in the morning, maybe even longer. Just don't bring them here. There are so many other options available, that it's not worth the headache or the negligence. read more

We love bringing our dogs here! We have been bringing our older dachschund Frankie here for years for boarding when we go on trips and they always make you feel like you are leaving your dog with a family versus a boarding facility. We got a new puppy a couple months back and brought him for his first time this past weekend. They took great care of him. Dana and Rochelle are absolutely amazing! Chance is a 12 year old German Shepherd mix and has never been boarded. When he was younger, he was aggressive towards other dogs (not so much anymore. He just doesn't care in his old age.) So he had a room to himself and would be let into the run by himself. A week before we left for our vacation, we found out he had bulging discs and arthritis. We got meds and Sunrun made sure he got his meds w/o an extra charge! He stayed 6 nights. I called after night 1 to see how he was doing, which wasn't well. He was VERY anxious. When I called after night 2, he was doing so much better! He was just loving the staff! They said he was just the sweetest dog! When we got him back, he was bathed and happy! I moved to CA in January and ended up finding sun run when I had to leave town at a moments notice and was calling around desperately looking for boarding for my two havanese. I have used sunrun on a regular basis for both daycare and boarding ever since, and can honestly say that in the 6 years i have had my dogs (both rescues with nervous tendencies), sun run is HANDS DOWN the BEST place I've left them. The owner and employees are so accommodating and though I haven't seen them interact with the dogs much, I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that they are attentive, and affectionate and take extremely good care of them based on the how calm my pups are when we arrive and as we leave. It's as though threat never left home- remarkable, really. I also want to add, that I have been extremely lucky when it comes to finding great caregivers for my dogs. I am not comparing sun run kennels to a terrible previous experience. They are simply stand-out. There's something about sunrun kennels that my dogs like better than all the rest and I'm not sure what it is but they're doing something Great there. I have taken my beloved puggle to Sun Run kennel a bunch of times. Even as I drive down the Cul De Sac of houses all converted into kennels. dog rescues and daycares, he gets all excited and wags his curly tail furiously..but once we enter the lobby of Sun Run...BOY does he run out my hands into the arms of the wonderful staff there. They have the nicest employee working there (i not just saying that! I really believe my dog loves them...And i have gone to other kennels and doggie daycares and sometimes you can just FEEL that they truly love dogs!) Joy, the receptionist is the best...she takes care of you very well, and makes sure you brought all your goodies with you and that your dog is well taken care for when youre away. The kennel staff is awesome! They really love every pooch that comes in. Total person to person love. My dog really remembers the same people that work there, and bonds with them. There is also a trainer who works with Sun Run if you need one, and a person who lives on the property so you always feel comfortable that your dogs are being watched and cared for 24/7. read more

I am late on this review. I have done training and boarding with Sunrun. My dachshund is a rescue dog and he came with some behavioral problems. While his problems aren't completely solved, Dana has done a great job to reduce them greatly! He always seems to have a good time when I take him here for boarding also. He isn't particularly the most friendly dog. I had tried to take him to a more popular daycare/boarding place in Tustin that I will not name, and they rejected him after he failed their behavior test. I really liked their facilities with indoor and outdoor runs and a place for small dogs and large dogs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I called and no-one plucked up but i left a voicemail and they called me back promptly. They also post some great pooch pics in Facebook so i can see my puppy is having a good time. My boxer, Daisy, stayed at Sunrun this past holiday break, and there are no words to describe how thoroughly disappointed I am with the way she was treated. The clear neglect that my poor dog endured is undeniable, just let the picture speak for itself. She lost roughly 10 pounds in 12 days and came home lethargic and a shell of what she once was. When I contacted Tina, the owner, she was maddeningly rude and flippant regarding Daisy's care. My dog is like my child, and I expected Sunrun to provide the level of care that I provide for her while she's at home. We love this home away from home for our little guy! Our dog is a little "difficult." He doesn't really know how to play and he's always nervous. But Sunrun Kennels staff love him & they make him feel safe and wanted. They hold him; they love him and they introduce him to other dogs who will play with him. Also, they were highly recommended by our veterinarian of over a decade. I had been using Sunrun for my dogs for many years, but will never board with them again. I was scheduled to travel out of the country and had made a reservation at Sunrun; while on the way to the kennel I was trapped in traffic due to an accident ahead. I called Sunrun and reached their answering machine as usual, and left a message that I was on my way. I called again 5 minutes later when I had still not cleared traffic and left another message. I called once more as I escaped the traffic jam and let them know I would be 5 minutes late, and I was, exactly. The young man on duty was locking the door as I pulled up, and said he couldn't take my dog because he had 'already clocked out' and had to get to class. I offered to pay extra but he refused, got in his car, and drove away. My flight left at 7 a.m. the next morning, and I was very lucky after numerous frantic calls to find a friend willing to take my dog for the 10 days I was out of the country. Until this incident Sunrun had done a good job of caring for our dogs, but I cannot in good conscience continue to do business with a company that employs someone like the man who turned me away at the door due to the inconvenience of having to unlock and accept my pet. I cannot imagine a lower standard of customer service. read more

We have been taking our dog to Sun Run for over five years now. The place started to deteriorate and get run down, but our dog does not like change so we kept using them. We were getting very disappointed with both the service and the hours of operation, both of which were not customer friendly. However, since the place was sold and the new owner's took over, it has improved dramatically. It is now much cleaner, friendlier and five star service. I am in the hotel business and I am always writing reviews of hotels on tripadvisor, this is my very first time on Yelp, that is how strongly I feel about the improvements in this place. Before it was like they were doing us a favor, now it is all about the dog and how best to make everything work for the customer- not sure why the old owners couldn't get this. I want to say to all what what a wonderful place and what my experience has been with Sunrun Kennels. The owner and manager have gone out of their way to accommodate the needs of my Greyhound, Coco. Greyhounds are by nature a very sensitive breed and require extra care from time to time. We boarded our dog Buddy here this past weekend and he had a great time! We had used another kennel on this street (there are several) but we definitely liked this one better and could tell Buddy had fun and seemed very happy when he was picked up. Like many pet owners, I have a lot of anxiety about leaving my pets when I travel. I know without a doubt at Sun Run that they are in the best of care, thanks to Micki who is present around the clock and treats every dog like her own child. My dogs are always well exercised and the facilities are clean. Because of Micki's knowledge with almost every kind of dog problem, I know that if anything went wrong she would know what to do. Micki knows all the dogs by name and all their personalities and all the ancillary staff are just as hands on and attentive with my dogs. I did not hesitate to book the 7 days boarding for our two dogs prior to our tour appointment when I talked to the kennel manager and dog trainer, Dana. I had been anxious because my husband and I did not like some of the other boarding kennels that we checked out a few weeks ago. Other kennels charge extra fees for everything....additional potty breaks, bringing in your dog food, medications, play time with staff or other dogs, or special request/needs to make your dog comfortable or less anxious while you're away. Both our dogs shared a private indoor/outdoor covered kennel runs and had many daily potty breaks and play time with each other (or with other dogs) and a staff member in one of the exercise yards. The indoor kennel is kept warm with heaters during the winter and is cooled with A/C during the summer. The boarding fee included Canidae dog food and beddings for no extra charge, but we brought our dog foods, bedding and other items for our pug mix since she had some special needs. I gave the staff the feeding schedule for both dogs as well as some special attention for our pug. NO extra charge! The owner Tina and her staff were caring, friendly and professional on the phone when I called to check on my kids. Our dogs looked happy and well-cared when we picked them up.
