The staff really did their best to stay out of the way when needed, be in the way when wanted and pretty much get you anything you might need at a whim. Tesla & EV chargers available. Nate, was exemplary and truly made our experience super comfortable. The rooms were very relaxing and the decks are super spacious. It's was super nice to be able to walk to the beach for a dip, come back to the outdoor lounge area where the fire pits are for cocktails, and then head up to our room for a morning nap. Restaurants on Shelter Island are all 5-6 minutes away. At breakfast they have coffee and croissants at the Sunset Beach office where you check in, and Friday thru Monday mornings they have yoga on the beach. Sundays from 3pm til they close are Balaeric Sundays featuring DJs that rock it. Highly recommended for a relaxing, calming and very chilled beachy stay. The property is truly unique and the staff definitely added to that magic on our stay.

No television in the room. It states on their website that superior king had a TV but it didn't and they were very unhelpful.

A family member has a medical condition that requires a specific type of mattress, so I called to ask a simple question about what kind of mattresses they offer. I was connected with a woman named Beth, who was shockingly rude and unprofessional. When I began explaining the situation, she literally said, "I don't have time for this," and then followed it with, "Are you making a reservation or not?" I was stunned. We were ready to spend a week here, but after being treated like an inconvenience for asking a basic, medically necessary question, there's no way I'd trust our family vacation to this place. I'm genuinely at a loss for words at how poorly I was treated. Also, I might like to add it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. I think I've only ever left one other negative review on my account. Trying to support small local business has always been a priority of mine and I understand people have good days and bad days so I don't usually take two social media to post a negative review but this was over the top nasty. I felt I needed to do so. Not to mention, I took a screenshot. The phone call was only one minute, so the fact that she became so nasty and saying she shouldn't have time for this I'm flabbergasted.

The food was absolutely the star of the night and every dish felt thoughtful, fresh, and beautifully executed. The tomatoes on toast were incredible! Bright, ripe, and full of flavor, with that perfect balance of freshness and richness. The Sardinian flatbread was another standout, crisp and savory and completely addictive. Even the complimentary bread service was memorable, especially with the basil butter, which was such a simple but delicious touch that made the whole meal feel extra special. The rigatoni was outstanding! Perfectly cooked, comforting, and deeply flavorful without feeling heavy. Everything we had felt polished but still warm and approachable, which is exactly what you want when dining at a hotel restaurant that really overdelivers. Truly one of those meals where you keep talking about the food afterward. What pulled it altogether was the cure little birthday sign waiting for us on our table, 2 glasses of free champagne and dessert to celebrate my husband's birthday. Warm and thoughtful touches that we've never had at a restaurant before and all because i just noted it in my reservations. Truly a perfect evening, highly recommend.

An Absolutely Exceptional Stay -- Silver Sands Is Something Special…read more My wife and I spent three days at Silver Sands celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary, and although this was our first visit, it certainly will not be our last. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States. It has a special atmosphere that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. Thank you to the entire Silver Sands team, as well as everyone at Eddie's and Nookie's, for making our 31st anniversary one of our most memorable, relaxing, and enjoyable staycations. You helped make an already special occasion even more special. We arrived as first-time guests and left knowing we'll be back and bringing others to experience what we had. Thank you again, Silver Sands. See you all soon!
