This restaurant changed hands and the new ownership is awful. We went in to sit at the bar and waited quite a while to be waited on. The owner (woman) finally asked us if we wanted anything. We asked for 2 beers and she left and never came back. She said she was the new owner and knew nothing about bartending. The bartender came to us and said....are you eating because it could be a problem? We asked why and she said that there were new owners and the kitchen was backed up, POS system wasn't working. We showed up late on Black Friday. They asked if we had reservations. We didn't but no wait. We got seated quickly. The food is expensive but it was the two of us so not bad. Used to be a great place to go but sadly with the new owner's things have greatly changed and not for the good. Used to drive by and the lots were packed with cars now I know why it is no longer. Ordered a pizza a few weeks ago not knowing new owners took over and wow the crust was totally different and the toppings were a joke. Sunset was always a bit pricy per topping, but you sure got your money's worth. Literally could count the tiny green peppers on the pizza and miniscule, tiny white onions. 1st time here and left extremely excited for a return trip. I started with the sausage and pepper skillet which is pretty much a stuffed banana pepper deconstructed. Nonetheless, really tasty with super high-quality sausage. My wife and I both opted for the red raspberry sangria and it was truly delicious. I'm not typically a sangria guy but this was one of the best I've had. For our entrées I went with a half pepperoni half sausage red pie and it was very good. Nice crisp crust and generous amounts of their house marinara. Again, the sausage was a great choice because it's a 10/10. My wife went with the gnocchi with meat sauce which I sampled a few bites of and am tempted to get next visit. Missy, our server was SO nice and helped us navigate the menu with ease. Really disappointed in the newer ownership. We used to love this restaurant. Even through the pandemic we ordered take out once per week. The food now isn't as good, service took almost 2 hours with no refills on drinks, and prices are really high. This was recommended by locals for a good neighborhood Italian place, and it did not disappoint. Hostess was telling everyone the wait was 45 minutes, but the people in front of us told us that the people in front of them had waited only 25; so, it turned out, did we. This was the last day of the "spring specials" before the restaurant closed for a week and converted to a summer menu (there's also a large selection of entrees not on the seasonal part of the menu), so since it was lateish in the evening I like to think I was the last person this year to have the barramundi. It was well-cooked, a little dry, on a large bed of angel hair with a touch of an interesting light citrus sauce. Pretty good. Better still was the wedding soup, with ground beef and chicken as well as meatballs and a good selection of veggies. Best of all was the appetizer, "greens and beans" with sausage. A friend and I had a reservation for Saturday evening. It was very busy and there was one young hostess who appeared overwhelmed and avoided eye contact with everyone. She assisted whoever approached her and did not try to go in any type of order. When we were seated we were not given silverware. We had to ask for forks when our salad arrived. It took quite some time to receive our meal after ordering and mine was lukewarm warm, almost cool. My meal was fairly bland. I ordered the Pollo Dicaprio. I do not recommend this dish. The waiter was friendly but very busy and did not check in. We had to flag him down for some water and then again later for the check. I also couldn't help but notice the couple behind us. The gentleman was served his entree 10 minutes before the woman accompanying him received hers. I felt really sorry for her as she sat silently watching him eat. They definitely need more staff in order to accommodate weekend diners. I will wait some time before giving them another shot. read more

We wanted to try a place that we haven't been in a while for dinner. I should have listened to the reviews. Very poor reservation and customer service. We were seated at a high top bar table. We asked to be seated at a regular table and were willing to wait longer, the hostess stated that the reservation system placed us at this table and it could not be changed. The entire lobby was full of unhappy costumers complaining about their reservations. We couldn't stay there, sit at the bar, and listen to this for the evening. We decided to leave and go to the Venue where we had a wonderful experience. There are many better places in Greensburg to eat, they need to step it up. read more

Before I even ordered my drinks, I could hear the waitress reciting our whole conversation, complaining and how she can "get this over with". I have celiac disease and was excited to try out this restaurant after I saw it had gluten free food. I wish I could remember the waitress' name. I was so appalled I didn't even know what to say but leave. The table said "Leyla" on it. Maybe that is her name? Either way she was some middle aged lady. We wanted to go check out the New Management that recently bought the Sunset Cafe in Greensburg. I'm so glad we did the service was outstanding and the food was even better. The new owners have made a few changes that make this restaurant like eating in your own dinning room. Table arrangements have been redone, and family pictures of their family through out the restaurant making it a relaxing place to meet for dinner or just relax with a few cocktails in this great neighborhood restaurant. We were stuck by Red Lobster on Mothers Day, ordered food we never got, very disappointing! After 2 1/2 hr wait cancelled order, at 7:30 PM called Sunset Cafe. They had our order ready in 20 minutes for pick-up, order was perfect, hot and fantastic! We had steak, veal, pasta and lasagna all done very well. We went to sunset the other night. We have never received such terrible service there before. Our reservation was at 6:30 outside. They didn't tell my parents we were there fir 20 minutes who waited inside. Our waitress came over at 6:47 finally to get drinks. We asked another waitress about putting in the happy hour appetizers before 7 when it was over and she said it's no problem just wait for your waitress. You've been here since 6:30. Needless to say our 3 appetizers we had to argue to get the half price special. The food was good except the steak was so over cooked and my salmon was horrible. Definitely not fresh I eat it all the time and it was almost fried and soooo salty. Take it off your menu if you can't make it correct. Our experience took until 9. Sometimes, it is best to give a business a second look. The Sunset Cafe has been a fixture in Greensburg for decades with a reputation for great Italian food. A few years ago, I ate here and didn't have a good experience. Our server wasn't nice, the wait for our meal was long and the food was average considering how much our meal cost. I am happy to say that my recent visit to the Sunset Cafe proved to be much better. On this night, there were a lot of regulars at the bar, while the dining room, where we were, had only one other couple. Our server was very nice and attentive, but not hovering. She made a few suggestions as to the specials, then gave us time to look over the menu. At the moment, they have a winter menu. My husband chose the Cajun shrimp and sausage with noodles. It was very good and spicy. I liked the large, wide noodles. My choice was a house salad with the house balsamic dressing and a large pizza. (Leftovers for the next day's lunch.) The salad was excellent with beets and pasta added. The pizza was good, but not my favorite. Nice to have had the change of heart about this place. read more

I told the owners I wouldn't get on social media about the cold pizza after waiting hour and second bad pizza. We always loved the pizza. Our 8 cut pizza after a hour came cut in 12 pieces all cut crazy and was cold. They brought the owner out who wanted to argue with my wife. She said just put in box and we will take home and cook it more. We said we will never come back so he doesn't need to worry about throwing us out. We eat out a lot at local restaurants and talk to a lot of people. That's not the best. He called my boss and told him a story that was not all true. He did add some lies. Who would ever think he would call where I work. I will be sure to tell everyone how we were treated. They are not the only game in Greensburg there also weren't too many people in bar like he said for a Saturday night. read more

I feel as if I may be a little unfair in my review of this establishment as I cook a lot of pasta and rarely find a dish that can compare to home made sauces. I live within walking distance to this cafe and surprisingly hadn't ever been there. One early evening we decided to give it a try. While we did walk there is ample parking for guests in several places nearby. Private lots mostly. There are several signs outside that denote a dress code policy, but state things like "no muscle shirts." So, maybe there is a dress code? Maybe weigh lifters are not welcome as they carbo-load too much? I'm still not sure. There were definitely people in jeans and sports team t-shirts inside though. I felt over dressed in my skirt and dress shirt. Attempting to make the restaurant seem more affluent and high brow may have been their way to justify the prices we paid. We were seated promptly, and I have to admit it was very small inside. Almost akin to being in someone's house. We were given a window seat overlooking... the roof of the salon next door. Lack luster, but essentially out of their hands I suppose. We ordered beer from a small-ish selection and salad before the pasta. The salads were the run of the mill "house salad," which means iceburg lettuce, a single cherry tomato, two rings from an onion, 6 croutons (which were actually rather good), and the usual "ranch, light ranch, italian, french, and vinaigrette" choices for dressing. (I am biased as I nearly loathe iceburg lettuce though.) After a surprising wait, we were presented with our pasta dishes. The servings were quote large (Another reason to charge more? It was more pasta than I would have eaten in two sittings. Read: Excessive.), but I was hugely disappointed with the flavor. The pasta noodles (angel hair) was cooked well, although perhaps a little over done. The sauce I had ordered was nothing different than a jar of "pasta sauce" from the grocery store. The bread severed with dinner was acceptable, although nothing impressive. I think that was the theme of the entire meal. There wasn't really an atmosphere set in the restaurant what so ever and the food was merely "ok." In all none of that would have bothered me if we hadn't dropped FIFTY DOLLARS on this meal. As much as I hate chains like The Olive Garden, I've had more flavorful meals from there and at a lower price. It's not fair of me to not give it a second chance, but I can't imagine going back there to drop another fifty dollars on a meal that was less enjoyable than something I could spend my day making at home for far less than half the price. read more

I was a frequent customer of the Sunset until some bad experiences this year. The seating service is awful. I have had a hard time getting seated there even when there are tons of empty tables. It is also overpriced for what you receive. I would say by about 50%. Too bad, this was at one time a great place. read more

Ate here last weekend for Dad's birthday. It was not very good. We ordered Calamari, Fried zuchini and anti-pasta salad. These were all fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. The entrees however, were disappointing. My Chicken Marsala was bland and tasted pretty much like a plain chicken breast drowned in a brown sauce from a can. My wife's Eggplant Parmesan was disgusting. Tasted like a sponge and the beading was like a skin that could be peeled off. Service seemed attentive enough, but later we realized that no bread was ever delivered to our table, and although we had at least 4 dishes at our table were some kind of pasta with red sauce, there was no cheese on the dish, or delivered to the table. Basically, this is a $10 a head experience that you pay $30 each for. Pasta not fresh made. I wouldn't be surprised it all of the food came we saw came out of a restaurant-supply box. read more
