Trying to avoid the ubiquitous Mother's Day buffets, we booked a reservation for Saturday evening this year. The restaurant was busy but not packed, which was nice. It's been quite some time since we were there and we were impressed overall by the service and food. The decor is lovely and elegant with artwork and draperies giving it a luxurious feel. It feels special just to dine there. We were seated and immediately greeted by our server who filled water glasses and gave us a few minutes to look over the menus before coming back for our drink orders. Cocktails were delicious. I had the Aperol Sunset and my daughter had the Greensburg Paloma. We ordered a few appetizers, the Zucchini Romano, which was fried zucchini with Bruschetta like toppings of tomatoes and green peppers and the Octopus Salad, which was a smoked octopus with potatoes and olives. Both were unique and different takes on standard versions I've had before. I added a Parmesan Salad to my entree of Scallops. It was a huge plate of frisée with pistachios and Parmesan cheese and was large enough to share with my husband and kids. The dressing was nice and vinegary, reminiscent of eating at my Italian relatives (Cousin Benny's) house in Cleveland. Entrees we're all very impressive to look at and wonderful to eat. As I said, I had the scallops, of which there were 8 perched atop a bed of white asparagus and spinach risotto. Yummy! My husband had the crab cakes and said they were the best he ever had. No filler, all crab. As usual, my son ordered the filet which was perfectly cooked and tender as butter. My daughter had the papperdelle in a Bolognese sauce. The pasta tasted home made and with some Mozzarella mixed in , each bite was creamy and delicious. Portion sizes were fairly generous, so much so that some of us took home doggie bags. But we still had room for dessert! We got a cannoli and shared it. Half was pistachio and half was chocolate chips. It was very large and was really good. Our server was extremely nice, cheerful and attentive. The service was quick but not rushed. We had time to enjoy our courses before the others came and the meal was quite enjoyable. Not a bad spot, first impression pulling in and they only offer $2 valet. You cannot park yourself. Very odd. They offer 2 different sections of dining with very opposite ambiance's. Either the bar section with the patio or normal dining with white table cloths. The food was pretty good, different takes on your traditional pasta dishes but they were not bad! Just expected different, like the full fried egg on top was interesting for a carbonara. The truffle fries were the biggest disappointment, they were not truffle forward at all and also came with no dipping sauce. We asked for ketchup to be able to eat them as they were just plain fries, but we paid for truffle. Overall not too bad but probably would not come back. read more

Osso bucco amd risotto were sooo bland that i asked for a side of pasta and it was 10x better than the entree for the price. Service was good. Bar service was slow , bread and 3 olives and some oil for dipping were generic to say the least . Gnocchi was average . Dining room wall had 2 feet of paint scuffed off it at chir height. For our anniversary meal is was the least enjoyed out of the last 7 years meals. Always wanted to visit and now i have and would not give anyone a thumbs up to go here to eat. We love Valozzis and always sit at the bar. Mac the bartender has been there for over 20 years, is friendly and goes above and beyond. I had a wonderful sparkling rosé and my husband loves the Old Fashioned. The food is delicious and I especially love the chopped salad. My husband had the pork chop and said it was one of the best around. The crème brûlée was yummy as well. They even have a little wine store and we always leave with a few great finds! read more

We closed on our new home in Pa today and decided to stop at Vallozi's. My wife and I started with the meatball and artichoke appetizers. Both were excellent. Our entrees were the Bolognese and and vodka rigatoni. Both were very good but the Bolognese was the stand out of the two. Our server, Abe was friendly and knew the menu well. The food timing was good. My wife had a "crepe creme brulee" and I hate the truffle trio. Both were very good. Overall a great experience, and we will be back. read more

Waked in for the fist time, friday night, went to the bar, sat down at 2 empty bar stools. And the first greeting was you can't sit there, we have reservations... them was told we could stay for 1:15 minutes. Because I wanted to treat my fiancé to a nice evening, we ordered a drink, and was not apologized to. A simple hello guys, first time in? I just want to let you know we have reservations for the bar and I am happy to take care of you but I do have people coming in later, is that ok? A traditional Italian restaurant located behind a Sunoco station. That's a good start in describing this restaurant. We have been here multiple times, primarily because of our friends wanting to come here. Without such cajoling we would not be there. It is okay as far as the food goes, but not even the best Italian food in Greensburg (see my other recent reviews), and waaaay too expensive. The ambience is okay, but the decor is nothing special and hasn't been updated in years. The lighting in the main dining area is very dim, the seating near the bar is loud, and the al fresco seating on the front porch has you confronted by fumes as people enter, idle their cars, and you wait for the valets to (please!) take the cars and fumes away. The service is always top notch, but that is it. Prices are far from what the food would lead you to believe. EVERYTHING is al la carte, so be aware if you do decide to come here. They do have a regular clientele, but that's probably because they have not tried other newer restaurants in the area. In all, take a pass on this restaurant and try another possibility, particularly in a town that has a lot of good Italian and much better ambience. read more

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites. We had many family events there. I would like to know what happened. !!! I ordered the special short ribs. It did not resemble any type of short rib I have ever had. It was in some sort of broth with over cooked potatoes and undercooked carrots. I ate a few pieces of the meat and a potato. The server asked me it I wanted to take it home. I told her it was just ok. My next complaint was the check, 55 dollars for that mediocre dish. A mediocre experience. We were excited to try this Greensburg Italian staple but disappointed by our experience. The Helen salad is no longer on the menu, the Italian drink we were ordered was not available. The buffalo mozzarella app was not available. The waitress was quite a talker which was disruptive. We unfortunately won't be back but perhaps our experience was an outlier. The seafood risotto was interesting: overcooked scallops, excellent shrimp and lobster tail, and bland risotto. Also, the food was really good and the seafood ciopino was the best bag for your buck! The prices were pretty steep compared to what was offered. Dinner, valet and wait staff are always wonderful. The wine and bourbon lists are probably the most varied in this Greensburg/Latrobe area. We then moved to a perfectly chilled "jumbo" shrimp cocktail. Followed by a tasty Caesar (yes with the little salty fishy's). The main courses of Filet cooked to perfection with fresh grilled asparagus & a creamy Seafood (Lobster, Scallops & Shrimp) Risotto. Pretty fancy, pretty pricey. I got the salmon and it was very savory. I liked how well it was cooked with the spices and it tasted great with the risotto and asparagus. The waiter told me it came with a salad and gave me the options of house or Caesar. I chose Caesar, but I was disappointed later when the bill came and I had been charged $10 for the salad. I thought it was complimentary and it was small and tasteless so the price really confused me. They have a huge parking lot and valet parking with great service. Try it out if you are looking for somewhere nice to go for a special occasion. They do take reservations and you will definitely want to make one for the weekend! The entrance was a little hard to find in the dark (I drove past it the first time). I suggest going when it's a little lighter out so you don't miss it like I did! read more

Overall we had a decent experience at Vallozzi's. The service was tremendous, our waitress was great - 10/10 for service. The food was fair - the turtle soup, classic pizza, fried zucchini and cocktails were all pretty good. The salmon was simple and tasty, but very much over priced for $36. The seafood risotto was okay, the seafood was cooked perfectly, but it was lacking flavor and was bland. The calamari and chicken saltimbocca were also fair, but didn't stand out. OK, I have to agree with other reviewers regarding the overall food. Overpriced (way overpriced) for mediocre food. However, why did I give this a 4 star rating you ask? Simply for the pizza. The pizza here is one of my favorites anywhere! The crust is amazing and different from anywhere I have had anywhere. It has a bit of sweetness to it and is very thin and crispy. The sauce is also amazing. For no reason other than the PIZZA is why I will continue to stop at Valozzi's when I am in the area. read more

I've eaten here a few times on business meetings. It's more expensive than I like to pay for a meal, but I am usually not the one paying when I visit Vallozzi's. The menu recently went through a change. As a result, a few of my favorite menu items are no longer offered - the chocolate creme brulee and the Love Apple pizza. The place has awesome pizza... thin, flaky, sweet crust and just delicious. At my last visit, I had the New York Strip Steak. It was cooked so well and melted in my mouth. As odd as this might sound, the brussel sprouts that came with the steak were out of this world. First time I had ever had brussel sprouts that I enjoyed. Also had a shrimp cocktail... The shrimp were huge and delicious. We had fabulous service, too... Very attentive servers. read more

The Italian fare is very mediocre and I will never understand the valet parking in the suburbs. Added cost not needed. If you think the crab cakes are outstanding then you haven't eaten at many eastern shore seafood restaurants. Shame on you! Many other reviewers hit the nail on the head, pretentious atmosphere for decent food that is over priced. If you have kids make sure they don't drink soda with their meal, refills are an additional charge! Spend less money and drive to the city to eat. read more

Quite possibly my favorite place to eat. Be prepared to pay though. My wife and I try to go a couple of times a year. Service is fantastic and the food is spectacular. Pick an appetizer and an entree. You'll likely not be disappointed. Afterwards... The bread pudding is just ridiculous. Rich and creamy and floating in a caramel bath. As rich as it looks and tastes, somehow it can be finished. If you're looking for something very casual but also really good, sit in the bar area and have one of their artisan pizzas. Great, simple Italian food in a great setting. The bar area is cozy and feels Mediterranean from the inside. The restaurant area was not open for lunch, but it looked very intimate and cozy, great lighting. The prices of the lunch menu were steep (about $12 for my sandwich), but you get great service and a beautiful setting for that as well, which makes up for it. :) read more

Also, this is an Italian restaurant and I don't do pasta ... but there are plenty non-pasta dishes here. Appetizers: Artichoke (fantastic!), zucchini (great). Entrees: Chicken Romano ... incredible!! The artichokes and sauce blended perfectly... 4 large (but thin) slices of chicken breast. Crab cakes ... big huge chunks of crab meat and very little "filler" ... awesome! Salmon was really good but that was last trip so no details. Dessert was cheesecake and a side of ice cream. Cheesecake was delicious and the "side" of ice cream came out in its own plate and FOUR scoops ... too much but I didn't leave a bite behind Waitress was attentive and nice and valet was extremely prompt. read more

My family and I chose Vallozzi's to cater our 200 person wedding this November. We began the process of working with them over a year ago. Chef Josiah and Ernie both personally took the time to sit down and help us create a plan for the rehearsal dinner at Vallozzi's, cocktail hour at the venue, and sit-down dinner for all the guests. We could not be more impressed with their dedication, professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care they placed in to our event. They were flexible with our desires and helped to create a unique wedding experience for everyone. We have received many, many compliments from our friends and family saying that this was the best wedding food that they have ever had. The evening began with a 12-foot long grazing table of hand-selected meats, cheeses, vegetables, etc. It was amazing and exceeded my expectations! We had a seated three course meal of butternut squash bisque, rigatoni pasta, and an entrée. The plated meal options were beef braised short rib, salmon, chicken cutlet, and mushroom ratatouille. After dinner, they coordinated for us to have an espresso cart open up - which was a huge hit (the line was very long, and the guests needed a warm espresso before dancing!) They were able to make our dream a reality - to serve a delicious meal and gather our closest relatives and friends around the table. My husband and I could not be more pleased with their service and have not stopped talking about how wonderful the whole team at Vallozzi's is! We cannot wait to dine there again with our family - Vallozzi's will always have a special place in our heart! read more

Our table started with the baked mozzarella, which was good, and dinner salads, which were fine. It went downhill from there; my mother-in-law's pizza was cold and the crust was flavorless, my wife's Cioppino was oily and under seasoned, my Risotto Dimare was mushy and the shellfish was over cooked, and my father-in-law's veal was decent, but not remarkable. Our server appeared to be over-worked or scatterbrained. You can do a lot better in Greensburg for $40 a setting if you'd prefer good food over pretense. read more

We were getting our car serviced at the Subaru dealership across the street and not really expecting to find much in the way of innovative cuisine judging by the long route that we had taken through farms coming from Fallingwater more than a half hour away. This restaurant was an oasis. I had a delicious shrimp and avocado Caesar salad which rivaled anything I've had large cities, my husband had a wild mushroom gnocchi and there wasn't a drop of sauce left on his plate. This used to be the best restaurant in Greensburg. They must have hired a new chef a couple of years ago because now it is terrible. The service is good along with the atmosphere, and wine selection. But stay away from at least half the food. Chicken saltambaca is still ok. I went to lunch a little while back and ordered a chicken sandwich, and it was all breading. I thought that the restaurant had neglected to tell me they were closed after I'd made a reservation on my husband' birthday on 1/2/18, and was upset when we arrived to a closed restaurant.The manager called today to say he'd personally called to cancel earlier that day. We spent the day with my one year old grandson, and I see now that he deleted the message while playing with my phone, and they were not to blame. Dined on 07/25 and was pretty disappointed. Food was mediocre at best and expensive. I had the snapper in a tomato sauce, which was that nights special. My companion had the veal parmesan which he said was rubbery. In all honestly I'd have rather eaten at Olive Garden. Plus they force you to valet park, give me a break. read more
