So I've reviewed this restaurant a few times before strictly on the pizza. But they've been offering other more upscale dishes and I wanted to give them a try for that. Today is my birthday and I wanted to go here to celebrate with my family. Although I was craving a Supreme Pizza, others made diverse selections which I think provides a pretty conclusive picture. Bottom line is, this is a good pizza restaurant with good craft beers on tap. It is not a good upscale food restaurant . We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer. They were ok, needed some salt, but the breading was good. My husband ordered the special, surf and turf which was prime rib and crab cakes. Which was supposed to come with a salad, which he never got, and two sides. The pasta side was penne with a very bland tomato sauce, it actually tasted like straight tomato sauce from a can. And the other side was grilled veggies, which were nice. The crab cakes were very good, with very little filler. The prime rib was fatty, tough and flavorless and kind of grey. We took most of it home for the dog. By the way, it was $55. My daughter ordered the salmon salad and was very happy with it. My son had the fish sandwich and said the best part of it was the bun. The fish had been fried too long in old oil and was limp and greasy. French fries were too. Although the menu said it came with Cole slaw, which he did not get. I guess he got the fries instead. Both my husband and daughter ordered the French Onion Soup. Apparently they grill the onions, but they were burned and gave the soup a acrid flavor. Not good. My Supreme pizza was very good as always. A solid menu choice. That pizza is 5 star worthy. Water and glasses were put on the table first thing with the menus. One of the 4 glasses had salt left on the rim from someone else's Margarita. Three of us ordered beer but my husband asked for unsweetened iced tea. It came and when he tasted it, asked me to taste it. It was very watered down. He asked the waitress if she could do something about it and she said she couldn't because it came out of the fountain like that. So he ordered a ginger ale instead. He had to ask her 2 more times to get it. Once we were home I looked more closely at the bill and realized they charged us both for the gross watery iced tea and the ginger ale which replaced it. We heard a guy at the next table complaining about the iced tea too. Why not just say it was not available instead of serving a bad drink? Overall, our waitress was not the best because when I ordered a second beer, she brought me a Yeungling, which was the beer my son had ordered, not the Block House Blueberry I had originally. I kept it, I like Yeungling too. So because of the service and the overpriced special, the dirty glass and the greasy overcooked food, the rating can only be 3 stars. Pizza was 5 stars. They need to stick to what they do well which are the pizza, and forget the upscale food.

I was supposed to meet some friends for dinner, but when they backed out my family and I still went. I'm so glad I finally had a chance to try this restaurant! It was so good and had a good atmosphere. We sat on the bar side which was louder than the restaurant side, and we wanted to watch the hockey game. This is to be expected though, so it's not bad or a complaint. Our food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The fries on my salad were crispy and shrimp were a good size and not tiny. I will definitely be back!

There is something different and special about an Italian restaurant in Western PA. It's just better. More delicious and more hospitable. Carmine's is the perfect example. As mentioned in other reviews, Carmine's smells amazing. It will be crowded, so either arrive early or be prepared to wait. It's worth it. Everything our party ordered was terrific--zucchini planks, cheesy bread (from Enrico's), polenta, eggplant parm, and even an outstanding version of a Pittsburgh steak salad with that famous Carmine's dressing. So good! Great portion size for the price (50% cheaper than Connecticut). I also agree with reviewers who consider the marinara to be a tad too sweet, but that's up to your personal taste. It's still delicious. Carmine made a personal appearance at our table and was super hospitable. We could not have enjoyed the experience any more than we did. We will be back to Carmine's every time we are in Latrobe.

Carmine's had a food truck at St. Vincent College for Steelers Training Camp and their pizza filled the entire lot with a delicious aroma!! Even from their truck, the pizza was phenomenal. The crust was so fresh and perfectly baked with that brick oven flavor! Cheese and sauce had so much flavor and... well... pepperoni is always the best topping. Even cooler... this was the only food truck that leaned into the Steelers vibe with banners to greet guests into their pop up tent. Oh... and a pop up tent for guests to get out of the sun.. talk about putting the customer first!! I will have to come back and give Carmine's brick and mortar a try now to!

I would say in that time we have ordered just about everything on the menu. While we have moved half an hour away, we still make the trip for the food. That stops today. It took the waitress 25 mins to bring a salad and hot cheese balls. Firstly we thought they changed and were now a finger food establishment as we didn't get silverware. Then we noticed the cheese balls not only being room temp but also did not arrive w sauce. The waitress never came back for us to ask for sauce. The croutons on the salad were stale beyond belief. Inedible. Then the entrees arrived. What happened??? What did you do to the alfredo? There was no flavor and very little of it. We know what this sauce can taste like and that wasn't it. The broccoli was hard and seemed as if they just added it at the end, raw. The waitress never came back after dropping off the food. We never got refills. To say I am sad and disappointed would be the understatement of the year. I cannot stress enough how this failed all previous expectations. An hour and 15 mins for hot cheese balls, alfredo & a Stromboli is a bit much. Had this been the quality we know it can be, it wouldn't have mattered. No more road trips. Plenty of free parking on and off street. There is a ramp but I will warn you, it's long and a decently high grade. Inside there are booths and regular tables. Enough room to walk through the rooms or use a wheelchair, walker, scooter or cane. Noise level is low. You feel a part of the restaurant but not too close to those around you. Decor is simple and honestly what you might expect from an Italian restaurant. Kitchen is visible but you don't hear or see much from it.
