Its been 30 years since I've been to a drive-in. I remember being in California as a kid and just loving the experience. We found this place when were in Burlington, VT for the weekend and decided to give it a try. The grounds are what you would expect from a drive in, nothing much to it. However, the one thing that really caught our attention was the quality of the movie itself. The picture was impeccable, might as well have been at a real movie theatre! We bought bug spray at the snack bar after seeing everyone spray the stuff everywhere, and thank god we did. There were so many mosquitos! It was insane. I still highly recommend the experience though given that you can't beat the price. Stay in your car though! Unless you really enjoy bats flying over your head and mosquitos bitting you all over. Absolutely love the Sunset Drive-ins. I have been coming here since I was a little kid and have spent more awesome summer nights here than anywhere else. For less than the price of 1 regular movie theater movie, you can see 2 or sometimes 4 here! They have a great playground for kids and a yummy concession stand. Make sure to load up on bugspray however, or you will get carried away by mosquitoes! read more

This place is awesome!! How old school and romantic to go to the drive in theater. I've been here twice and I love it. They have current movies and at 8:00 per person you can't beat it for 2 movies. It's a fun night out. We didn't have time to stop and get food so we reluctantly ordered from the snack bar. The food was actually pretty good. I'd compare it to a subshop quality. Certainly more than I expected. The price was great too. Granted, I'm used to Boston prices , but chicken fingers, fries and a big bag of m&m for 12.00 is a bargain all day long. The staff at snack bar were also so nice. Very polite and truly took pride in the food , pretty refreshing to see. I look forward to many more movies here. So fun on a summers night. I was excited to take my husband to the drive in for the first time, but it couldn't have been a worse experience. They experienced technical difficulties and they had to stop/start/rewind several times. By the 4th time we gave up (maybe halfway through the movie) and asked for our money back. We were told "No" because they didn't have any cash! We were offered a free pass, but was pointless since we don't live in the area. Really disappointed with the service. I have fond memories of this place as a kid but it isn't like it used to be. Go to a theater. read more

The Sunset Drive-In Theatre is an awesome place to go and see a movie. They run a top notch operation with great screen presentation, an excellent snack bar with great food and friendly staff! The sound is awesome in your car on your fm stereo radio. I have been going to this drive - in for many years. There is nothing that beats watching a double feature in your car under the stars! This Drive-In just celebrated 60 years of continuous operation. I hope they will be around for future generations to enjoy. If you have not been to this drive-in theatre it is definitely worth checking out. And mark this on your calendar.... every labor day weekend they have an awesome Dusk To Dawn Show with 4 movies on all of their 4 screens. read more

A completely affordable, incredibly fun night out. Two first run movies for $8, a well-stocked and affordable snack bar, and four screens. I've had some of the greatest nights there sitting out and watching a movie under the stars. Seriously, get out of your car and experience movies in a heightened level of amazing. read more

Boy have the drive in's changed.. First we drive in park our vehicle.. 5 minutes later we are told it's a SUV so we have to move to the back.. So we do and We park AGAIN..5 minutes later we are told we have to move because 2 cars have to fit between the posts... 40 minutes later we are told to put our trunk door down.. Mind you we are in front of the snack bar.. There are no vehicles behind us.. NOT HAPPY!! will not be back!! Oh and they are RUDE!! except the woman collecting payment was AWESOME!!! read more

Love the Sunset Drive-in!! Its a good price for two movies and you can bring in your own food if you're not fond of what they sell. The bugs really suck but if you plan for them then you will have a much better experience. Highly recommend :) read more

!!!WARNING!!! Sunset Drive In has dysfunctional projectors, causing the movies to shut off mid film and then resume 30 minutes later in random points in the movie. We missed over 30 minutes of both features, and then were refused a refund. We were loyal customers for over 10 years. I WILL NEVER GO BACK read more

The Sunset is a mandatory event for our family summers. Yes, the place is a little long in the tooth with bathrooms and playground features from the past, but that's part of the character. Also from the past is the relaxed attitudes the place creates: kids in PJ's sitting on hoods; couples having a place with enough privacy for relationship building, but enough safety for peace of mind; family feature movies; plus the ability to mix and match you movie choices. Finally, the staff know that you are there for entertainment and relaxation and help keep you in that mind set. We ran the fan in our car to the point of a dead battery, and one of the staff came right out to our car with a powerpak and cables and got us up and running it time for the second feature. Pete, the omnipresent face of the establishment, always makes sure you are all set for the evening as you pay your below market admission and receive screen and signal directions for your selections that evening. I simply pray that no one gives in the temptation of profit and shuts the place down in favor of building condominiums. read more
