Call the store a ton of times to inquire about the window part and also emailed all the pictures for illustrations. No one ever brother to respond. The owner brushed me off even when I asked him in person face to face, told me that his receptionist will contact me later. The ladies were polite on the phone and they keeps telling me the guys will respond when they have a chance......this is 3 weeks later and I made the last attempt and still have the same response. Spoke to 2 separate ladies and they were super helpful. 1 day turn around since in town shortly. $80 for a 27"x16"x 1/4" medicine cabinet mirror with a curved top. Great service. Price seems to be based on area, thickness, number of custom cuts and any needed holes. Note this top curve was complex so its cut free hand so not super precise geometrically. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I am a general contractor and I just did a repair job for a very nice older woman. She had Wayne at Sunset install 3 windows for her. Her invoice showed that there was a lifetime guarantee. All three windows have been leaking for 4 years and she has called numerous times. They told her that they came to her house and fixed the problem. I had to remove all 3 windows, repair the dry rot and re-install them. My charge was $1350.00 to do this work. Once again. Now-a-days it seems that 'Have a nice day', ' Have a good one', 'Take it easy' or some other catchy phrase or homily has replaced 'Thank you' or 'Thanks for your business.' But there are even times when 'Have a mice day' would be welcome. We dropped a major chunk of change at Sunset Glass for replacement windows. One would think for the cost and scope of the job, Wayne, the owner or one of his employees would follow up with a 'How did the Job go? Is everything satisfactory? Thanks for your business.' or write a simple 'Thank You' on the bottom of the invoice? Alas alack, no one did. I also ordered a skylight at the same time as the installation. Sunset failed to follow up on that one. I guess business must be so good at Sunset that Wayne doesn't have to worry about keeping customers coming back. We got completely screwed by Sunset Glass. First they promised they would have the glass for our shower in 5 days, it them 20 days. Second, they improperly installed a $1,800 shower enclosure and when I called to inform the them the reception was less than friendly. The owner, eventually called me back and promised to have someone come out and repair the issue. He never did contact me and I had to follow up with him. Again, another delay and no one ever showed up. We are done with Sunset Glass and will likely have to sue them for the cost to have someone come out and repair their poor install. We wanted to support the local guys, but we go burned. Stay away from this company!! read more

I thought I would give them a second chance. He immediately sent the bid which was at a good price so I wanted to follow-up for more details. Sunset Glass installed Milgard double pane windows on our house in Inner Sunset 10 yrs. ago. The price was reasonable and they did a very thorough job. At the time, they told us that the windows have a lifetime warranty. Now 10 yrs. later, some of our windows had smudges on the inside and we wanted them replaced. Sunset looked up our invoice and contacted Milgard Windows for us. Milgard was very professional and took the time to measure our windows and replaced everything to our satisfaction. They kept their word and we are very pleased with both Milgard and Sunset Glass. Milgard is a company of integrity and Sunset Glass is a great neighborhood business which is very customer oriented. Shockingly poor customer service! After three calls and 2 emails over 10 days I engaged another provider. The person who answers the phone, and does intake for quotes, 'is not allowed to have e-mail' but she said I should send an e-mail with details and the 'guys in back' will take care of it. Needless to say nobody is responsible for the balls rolling around on the floor. I did use them a couple of years ago and would prefer to support neighborhood businesses but they are too disorganized for me to consider using them in the future. Sunset Glass used to be reliable and I had good experiences. However, this past month they've dropped the ball and I have to agree with other reviewers. An order was placed on 12/20, and we were told the windows would be ready the second week of January (due to the holidays, I understood there would be a delay--reasonable enough). However, it has taken over a month and they were not ready for delivery to the store until the 25th. A slow processing and delivery time which delayed a new rental, costing me money. Do not buy your windows from this company!! I ordered my new windows for my entire house and it was supposed to take five weeks. After two months I hadn't heard a word, I went by several times, called several times and nobody got back to me. These people are incredibly unprofessional! I was out of town when the windows were finally installed and came back to windows that couldn't be locked, was promised they would come in the morning to fix it, nobody came.... you get the picture.... Then they claim they didn't get a payment check, and then suddenly they can call you at odd hours and come by the house to yell and scream... nice. Would never ever do business with them again. This was my first experience with Sunset Glass. Wayne the owner was very friendly and was able to get someone to come out for an estimate the same morning I called. I had to reschedule my original appointment due to my work schedule, but Wayne was able to get a technician out the next business day. The technician, Christian was professional and friendly. Sadly, the glass business is plagued with recent immigrants who are trying to achieve the American dream by ripping off every customer they can because they don't care about repeat business. A back window in our house (that we did not install) had its double pane fail (condensation was getting in between the two pieces of glass). I called Sunset Glass, they responded over the phone and gave an immediate rough estimate for replacing the glass, had a person come out and do the measurements and confirm the estimates. That person was on time, and then told me when I should expect a call from them again once the glass was ready. Sure enough I got a call 3 to 4 days later, I arranged for them to come out to install the glass, and they again showed up on time and installed the glass. I don't like to give negative feedback to a local business, but I am doing so (in my first Yelp review) because I hope it keeps someone else from feeling as frustrated and helpless as I have. (And keeps them dry, as well!) I bought into a 4-unit TIC in the Richmond in Feb. 2006. The units had been completely remodeled, and Sunset Glass had replaced all the windows. When I initially viewed my unit, one of them was leaking. When I put in my offer, I included a contingency that the window be fixed. I was assured it had been, so I bought and moved in. It soon became clear it hadn't been. Then, the kitchen window started leaking. The seller was quite sympathetic and tried to get all parties together, but Sunset Glass insisted that they weren't responsible and blamed the leaks on the stucco workers. Still, they threw up some caulking. A year or two went by. Now my neighbor's window leaks. One of mine still does as well -- three years later! I recently called SG, not even to ask them to do anything for me, but to refer me to someone who could detect the origin of the leak and fix it once and for all, and received no callback. Any window shop whose work doesn't hold up even through the first season is one to stay away from. read more

The nicest thing I can imagine just happened. Sunset Glass just came to do an estimate on what I thought would be glass replacement in a window where the glazing tape appeared to be failing. When the service man, Doug, arrived, he assessed the situation and told me I had nothing to worry about. He trimmed the unsightly tape corners that were sagging because they had stretched from the sun on the window, showed me why he knew there was no danger to the actual seal, and left without letting me pay him even for his driving time. Wow! What kind of wonderful service is that! Based on this experience, I would recommend Sunset Glass to anyone! read more

I rarely write bad reviews, but this needs to be said. After several phone attempts to get a bid, I finally physically went in to see if someone could come out and give me an estimate for a bathroom mirror with cut-outs for lights and 2 built-in glass shelves. The day finally arrived for installation and when the young man went to put the mirror up (with difficulty), the cut-outs were completely off! Like about 2 inches. He said the replacement would take several more weeks, so reluctantly I said let's check the light fixtures and see if they will cover the mistake. Luckily they did. I watched him install the glass shelves, but it was weeks later that I finally looked closely. Both shelves do not fit properly-too narrow in the back, and the front barely squeezed in, so much so, that the paint and wall were indented. Such poor and lazy measuring on his part. I was supposed to get a shower door also, very glad I didn't!! I'm so unhappy with this whole thing, I will never use them again. read more

We live and own in the avenues of the Richmond District, since 1998. I have to say I had the same experience with customer service. I actually walked into the shop one Saturday and spoke with them about our project needs: old windows needing to be replaced with new windows and wanting to do a frameless glass shower. The women at the front desk took my information and said they would call to schedule for someone to come by to take measurements, etc. the following week. That was some time back now, months.
