They are famous for their Sloppers. which my party ordered 3 different ones. The slopper patty itself was good. the green chili was pretty running which makes it hard to stay on the burger. Also it doesn't come with fries so we all ordered fries on the side. All three of our portions of fries was equivalent to maybe one potato per person, for an additional 3.50? My favorite slopper so far! Ambiance is fine - typical pub. Service was quick and accurate. Family friendly spot. Some reviews have mentioned the limited beers on tap. That wasn't an issue for me - Blue Moon is a go to for me and it was available. I will be back! read more

The new Kareoke guy accepted my tip and added me to his kareoke list, than after approached me at the bar away from his stand, and told me I would no longer be able to sing. 3 mins later I see my name on the screen, with the song I requested, and he called a new person up to sing. Quentissential Pueblo. Featured in the Travel Channel Food Wars episode. They won best slopper award, which i suspect is a dilemma for we natives. Gray's Coors originated the delicacy years ago, but some of us prefer the green chile at Sunset Inn. If you like a thicker stew-style green chile, you will prefer Gray's for sloppers. Sunset Inn has a huge menu including very tasty mexican dishes. I recommend the tacos on white. I've never met a person who doesn't absolutely dig T's on W. It's a soft flour tortilla deep fried into crisp crumbly pastry-like texture. They have COLD SCHOONERS - a Pueblo requirement. Big space full of tables and a couple of pool tables. The food was good, real good! They have all kinds of sloppers. I think it's the only place I know that serves Sloppers is Pueblo. I ordered an Italian sausage slopper, the rest of the group ordered hamburger Sloppers. It's served in a bowl, with a bottom bun, meat patty smothered in chili and cheese and a spoon to eat your meal with. I also asked for lettuce and tomato. read more

Great neighborhood sports bar with solid bar food. The "GIANT burger" was in fact giant. Green chili sauce was excellent, fully stocked bar. Very friendly wait staff, and obviously the place to know for locals. Fun place, very casual, slightly loud, definitely a place to be on game day. read more

I have been going to Sunset Inn for decades. However today I experienced the worst dining experience ever. It took the staff over an hour and 20 minutes to get us our food. Sad I even wasted my time really. Wanted to be excited about trying out the food here. The wait staff however, was more interested in waiting on their friends than customers. Sat ourselves, waited, finally got menus and asked for a couple waters to start while we looked at our menu. Waited another 20 minutes while the wait staff walked past us at least 3-4 times to one other table. Never received our waters during this 20 minutes either. After about another 5 minutes of getting walked past we finally gave up and left. They weren't even all that busy, so we really couldn't see what the issue was. read more

My husband and I came to this restaurant today on a recommendation from one of his coworkers. We found it had several patrons here when we arrived. Always a good sign. I enjoyed the food. It was very different from any Mexican food I have found in this area. Or really any place.Their green chili was very good. Although I only had a taste of it, I would definitely come back for the slopper. It's a pueblo thing. Cheeseburger served open face smothered with green chili. I have eaten green chili several places here now, and this one was delicious. Service was good. Very friendly place and clean. Chips and salsa great! Homemade chips with a spicy salsa :-) this is a neighborhood joint. Well worth a stop in :-) The next time I will definitely try one of their Michelada"s. read more

Decent food a little pricey for add ons - slow service on the patio - good parking and beer

Sunset Inn had delicious green chile... but that's where it stops. We decided to visit in the late afternoon. I ordered the slopper and they really didn't put enough on my burger so it just wasn't enough at all, then the fries cost an extra $3.00 and they served a small handful that were almost cold and obviously had been sitting around a while. Then my poor husband ordered the huge Hamburger, which is very large and thin but it had absolutely no flavor! Apparently, they don't season the meat at all, and again, his $3.00 fries were a paltry potion that were also cold and old. We were so disappointed! For a total of over $30, it was a joke. We are going out for Mexican dinner tonight since it is Cinco de Mayo but Sunset Inn will never be on our dining out itinerary ever again. read more

Ordered takeout for lunch. Simple order. Bacon mushroom cheeseburger no tomatoes with onion rings ended up with tomatoes and a few fries in the order. Cheeseburger with fries. Didn't put tomatoes and also came with a few fries (wanted fries just not a small handful of cold ones) Bowl of chile. Both burgers were cold, dry and overcooked, fries were cold also. Pueblo Native, recently moved back, I am so happy to see the Sunset still doing so well. This is a really family-friendly place during the day, has many regulars so you can always expect a certain kind of atmosphere here Which I love. I come in here by myself and always feel safe and looked after. They even kicked out a person who was way too drunk, but kept telling me I was a liar because of my hat. (I'm a combat vet and PROUD of it) When I started visiting a few years ago, I saw they were selling sloppers. Yes, there are a few places in Pueblo that have better. But this place isn't bad just because they keep being compared to the others. This is an awesome southside place. Good food, great drinks, better schooner specials and their long-term staff are the main reason I Keep going back. I've been here a few times now and I really do like it. They have a great, creative menu (wich can be a bit slow, but is always very well prepared), a great family friendly atmosphere (minus the weird, short, white picnic chairs; a truly bad choice which I know must haunt the decision maker), a friendly staff,... a nice game room area,... a nice, but small outside eating deck, and an arguably solid beer selection (on the bottled side though, as the draft side is very '1993' corporate and basic). A few quality craft/local beers would be very well recieved. All said... I will continue to come back. The place just makes me smile when I walk in. And that's a good thing. The food at the Sunset Inn is pretty good. However the customer service needs a lot of work. The servers are not friendly and when we where there they did not come back to check on us to see how everything was. Noticed that if you are a person of color (I am a Latina) you are treated as a second class citizen, which surprises me as the owner is a Latino. Had to go to the bar to get my bill and pay, how unprofessional is that for the employees. I am a good tipper but I actually hated to leave a tip because of the bad service. I did though because I thought of my sister who had worked in the food industry for many years. This will be my last visit to this establishment. Stopped in today, I have never been here before and didn't know it was on some food channel thingy or didn't know the slopper competition between them and Grays was a thing, I just saw all that in the reviews when I came to leave one. It's by my house and I've lived in Pueblo over a year and never stopped by, until today. So it's a family owned business and it has a real homely type feeling to it. The staff seem to be all related and they talk with their normal customers intimately, discussing family and events and such. You can tell this place is Pueblo home grown. Which is admirable, but as an outsider coming in don't expect much. I ordered the large smothered bean and beef burrito with lettuce and tomato. Nothing spectacular just a regular burrito of decent size, they charge extra for lettuce and tomato. The green chili was the highlight, there was real depth to the flavor that only comes from slow cooking, the only knock I have on the green chili itself is the lack of heat, as mild as mild can get but it's delicious. As for the rest of the ingredients, well, the beans were bland and I had some beans that had a crunch from being undercooked. Between the undercooked bland beans and the awesome green chili I really lost the meat. I couldn't even tell you if there was actually meat in there or not. Also after my order was taken and brought to me not one person talked me after that. No one checked how my food was no one offered to refill my drink. I was ignored completely the rest of the time I was there. I had to flag down someone to get my ticket. 13 bucks including drink, not bad. I handed the person I flagged down a 20 and got up and left. Was chased out the door by a different person screaming I didn't pay my bill. Ignored me my entire visit then chased me down accusing me of being a thief after I just left a 50 percent tip, even though I was completely ignored. Was going to leave two stars because the green chili is some of the best I had here in Pueblo but remembering the way I was treated brought it back down to 1. Well. After seeing Camille on the Travel Channel rate Sunset Inn's slopper as the best in my home town Pueblo I just needed to find out why! OBTW Yelpie this is not a hotel it's a groddy dive joint. And I didn't find out. Someone got paid off! Coors Grey Tavern (I will review after a visit) will be the king and the only crowned slopper king in Pueblo. Actually I don't think I can even give these guys a star. The slopper, my half of it was gross. I split it with my gal, because I saw one on the TC Food Wars show and it looked fab, and huge! Def not the case. I was hungry and eating a whole one that was served to us I woulda been very unsatisfied. The fact that it came out cold and looking slimy one half hour after I ordered it made me wonder what the f was going on in the kitchen. My half was dropped in front of me and the help stormed off. I gave it a shot it was not warm it was cold! When she returned I told her it was cold (a guy at the table across from me said "Mine too!") she grabbed mine and my gals and didn't say a word. Guess what happened next? It was even grosser! I couldn't finish it. It had been thrown in a microwave and now it was just a soggy heap, with the burger dried and rubbery disk still cold on the inside. She even gave my gal my half the one I took a bite outta! The best sloppers in town!!!! Yes, Grey's offers a good one as well, but I do prefer the Sunset's version much more. If you're going here, keep in mind that it is a bar that serves food, but it is a family friendly environment. I suggest going all out and getting the giant slopper with smothered chili fries! I came while down from California visiting family. I must say this was nice spot to stop. Th e food was amazing, the staff super friendly and environment extremely clean. The food was amazing but I might be a little bias as we don't get good old homemade green chili like this in California. Might I also add that it was very inexpensive, for the 8 people that went to dinner here. So shout to the staff for being amazing and providing us with amazing service and food.. We went in on a lazy Saturday afternoon. It's the perfect time if you are going for a quiet date and good food. I'd been reading and hearing about the Green Chile sloppers for years and we figured it was about time to try it out. We were both pretty happy with the Sunset Inn version. Couldn't get away without trying the Chili Cheese fries too. They were pretty good. The food is so good, I wish they had more non-alcoholic options to pair with it too.
