So i got here @ 1045 the place was locked employee was late to open door which happens..the bartender maybe owner? My favorite slopper in town. Lots of regulars and a great spot to meet up with friends.

This is my favorite place to come for lunch after golfing at city park. The margaritas are awesome, and the club sandwich is easily the best sandwich I've ever had. Everyone compares Coors and Sunset for their sloppers, but they're really two very different places with different takes on sloppers. I prefer the chili at Coors, but the bread, burger and fries at Sunset. Service can be sketchy here, especially at night, but the food, atmosphere, drinks, and long-time servers (especially Mariah-As a family-run restaurant, she's here most of the time, and really cares about making your experience positive!) keep us coming back. In general, go to Sunset for lunch and Coors for dinner! They're both awesome. read more

My girlfriend and I went in around 4 PM. We sat at our table for almost 10 minutes without being waited on. I finally went to the bar and ordered our drinks, The waitress and the bar manager were in the corner, never made eye contact. We were going to order food but never had anyone come to our table. Several workers including a girl with really long hair walked by us at least three times gathering ketchups off the table and never acknowledged us for over 10 minutes. Love the sloppers, very tasty. Me and my 15 year old son stopped in after a wake in Pueblo, it was after seven p.m. We sat at table and waited for a server to come by. It seemed like the servers were involved with flirting and drinking with the customers at the bar, rather then doing there job.After waiting over ten minutes I went to the bar and asked for a menu, and I was told they did not serve food after 7p.m. Only the bar was open, so why in the hell would they let me sit in there with my 15 year old and not say anything. Right before I had to go back to Pueblo, I saw an episode on the Travel Channels Food Wars. I asked my husband was there something that we were missing?? A week later I headed back for a family emergency and couldn't wait, I was excited when we arrived cause lord knows my group was driving me nuts and I needed a beer. Im a huge green chili fan so after moving to Pueblo a couple of month's ago I've made it my mission to try every slopper in town. From an outsiders point of view, without being emotionally attached to a restaurant like many Puebloans seem to be, so far the sunset has the biggest and the best. Went home to visit family and was told to visit the Sunset Inn for good green chili. Wish I could tell you how it was...we had to clean our own table, couldn't get menus and when we finally did we became invisible...no water no waitress no food...they served every table after us and looked at us as they passed our table for 20 min...(no we are not unkept or rude or green) we finally walked out...Horrible Customer Service.. read more

Retired combat vet was refused service at Sunset Bar and Grill on 7/8/15 because he had a service animal and employees insisted that he provided paperwork that the dog was actually a service animal before he would be served. When combat vet asked for owners information employees refused to give him information. At one point he was completely ignored and the vet had to go to the bar and ask for service. Employees argued with vet demanding he provide official paperwork on his disability. When vet stated that per the ADA he did not have to provide that information he was told per the health department required to show his paper work. The vet stated that it was a violation of his right and the employee stated that alright he didn't care it was his bar. This is a disgrace that someone who served our country is treated this way and can't be severed. read more

After trying the sloppers here and at Coors Tavern, I gotta give the nod to Coors Tav for the better slopper and more flavorful green chile. However, neither place compares to the great sloppers we used to get at Pepe's on the Mesa before they closed down for some unknown reason... Great food for a bar, the staff is very nice and service is usually good, but Coors definitely has a bigger and better tasting slopper.

My wife and I stopped in for an early, easy dinner. We were greeted promptly by a friendly young lady. The beer was ICE COLD, which we always appreciate. The word GIANT for their club sandwich and cheeseburger is definitely accurate. But - while there was pink left in my burger as requested, the cheese wasn't at all melted. The most significant negative - very important - was the overwhelming sewer smell in the men's room. It was terrible enough to disgust me, and I almost decided to leave before food was served. I did report it to our server and it appeared that they send a gentleman to look at the restroom. We'll be back, but it may be a while . . . read more

My last visit to sunset inn was horrible , the food is poorly made was not fresh my chicken sandwhich was not fresh grilled chicken. And the French fries were gross and seemed days old I will never go back there ! And the staff are not friendly . Over bad experience and old out dated decor! FYI get some real charis! read more

My wife and I arrived at about 1:15 p.m. on 28 August. As I have a Therapy Dog, we asked to be seated on the outdoors patio. We were REFUSED ADMISSION as the establishment "does not allow dogs on the patio". Rather than argue with stupidity, we left. I suppose these cretins have never heard of the Americans With Disabilities Act. As we would not eat at such an establishment, I cannot rate their product, but they get one star for service. read more

So I put in a quick tip before dining here based on a show I watched, and then I had to go in and edit it. Travel Channel's Food Wars Slopper Challenge was between Sunset Inn and Gray's Coors Tavern - Sunset Inn won. Let me just say I don't understand why. Most interesting as it was 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. We walked and found a table - no host and no real sense of order to know if anyone saw us sit down. Someone from our party went over to the bar and got a couple of menus. After a 10 minute wait, a woman came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. We gave her our drink orders but said we were ready to order our food as well. She said it didn't work that way and would only take our drink order. Thinking then that someone else would come over to the table, I was surprised to see her back with drinks and was now ready to take our food order. My daughter ordered a seafood plate. Two of us shared a "slopper" (a hamburger with green chile poured over the top and melted cheese.) Seafood plate: big mistake. Everything was heavily fried with the exception of 6 or so rolled up pieces of imitation crab - with that really shiny look food gets when it's way past the edible stage. The slopper was no better - it was cold. Not only was it cold, but it was about half the size of the one on the show (which is why we opted to split one.) When we told the wait person that it was cold, she rolled her eyes and huffed like it was our fault. Then a guy at the table next to us chimed in and said his was cold too. She took the plates and miraculously came back in three minutes with a steaming hot slopper. Amazing what microwaves can do. It was hot alright, but the meat was now like rubber. I didn't even mention the green chile - I've had it better from a jar. Lesson learned - I'll watch Food Wars now strictly for entertainment. And I'll try a slopper from Coors Tavern next time I'm in town. read more

I am not sure how you beat Gray's Coors. I tried your slopper and hands down Gray's is much, much better.

I love the Sunset but the service is absolutely horrible and SLOW !! Even if it's DEAD in there the service is still very bad. Nice staff though read more

We drove 70 miles down to Pueblo to get one of the famous "Sloppers" . We had seen the Sunset Inn on Foodwars and wanted to try the winning Slopper. It was disappointing. The show said it was served with tortillas - wrong. They came with cold fries for extra money. We ended up paying like $54 for 4 Sloppers and a bratwurst sandwich. read more

Because I enjoyed their burgers, I used to be a regular in spite of the staff acting like they're doing customers a favor, not attentive and overall bad service. The final straw for me was the rude female owner response as I read my receipt and asked about a $1 charge which turned out to be the price of two fresh jalapenos. The food is good, but the staff is HORRIBLE. It is better to go somewhere else and avoid the aggravation.
