Especially for the crazy prices. ordered a slopper from their second location and not only did it come out cold but there was a total of 9 fries on top and the burger patty was comparable to a dollar menu patty at McDonald's also not enough green chile to wet the fries. gave it a second chance and went for breakfast and it took 45 min to get my steak and eggs which the steak was flavorless. would not recommend wasting your money read more

I went to a bar this weekend that I used to practically live at a few years ago, and the difference was honestly shocking. What used to feel fun and welcoming now felt uncomfortable the second we walked up. The bouncers immediately gave off a creepy, unsettling vibe. They barely spoke, just made vague hand gestures while avoiding eye contact completely. When they did say something, it was mumbled so quietly you couldn't even understand them. Right from the entrance, the whole atmosphere felt off, but since it was my birthday and I'm newly single, my girlfriends and I decided to give it a chance and try to have a good night anyway. Inside, the place felt dead for a Saturday night. We went to the dance floor, and the only person dancing was an elderly woman who looked close to 80. The energy was nonexistent. The one bright spot of the night was the female bartender near the dance floor -- she was genuinely friendly and gave us the only positive interaction we had there. After that, we walked to the other side of the bar hoping maybe the vibe would improve, but it only got worse. There were barely any people there, almost all men, and the atmosphere became even more uncomfortable. The music was terrible, the crowd felt awkward, and the whole place had this strange, unfriendly energy that made us want to leave as quickly as possible. We finished our drinks and got out of there. Walking past those same creepy bouncers on the way out honestly felt like a relief. It's sad to see a place I used to love turn into somewhere that now feels so unwelcoming and uneasy. read more

Wonderfully good times were had here while i was visiting family in Pueblo. I popped around to a few bars in the area and always ended up returning here. Jason always had my amber ale ready to go when i came in and sat down. Extremely friendly and attentive staff and just good vibes all around. Food: I had the chicken strips one evening and they were killer, especially paired with the pueblo pickle shot. Weekends they have a little music and dancing -top 40 and early 2000's. Sundays were my fav days bc the patrons inside were always so nice and easy to talk to. The hours are inaccurate on yelp, they are open tell about 1am everyday, just call ahead of time to confirm. First time going here and we're a bit confused with the seating since we hadn't seen a server. I believe they had one or two staff serving both the inside and outside. We were given menus and ordered drinks. The drinks were amazing. We had the crown apple sour one shot, 2 for $5. We ordered the 30 pc buffalo wings and a friend ordered the lemon pepper. The lemon pepper wings had little to no seasoning. And the buffalo had just a bit of sauce. I would've loved to have more buffalo sauce especially since we had so many wings. The limited edition burger is why I give it 4 stars instead of 3. It was a great burger and their special sauce is very tasteful. The salad dressing options weren't much, I don't like ranch and there wasn't thousand island or the Italian dressing but they were able to use something similar. The seating areas outside had a Live performer which is so nice especially since they sang really good. The inside had great music and a great bar area. We didn't try the pool table up top but they do have a servicible table. The waiter was friendly and helpful with the menu items and kept our drinks filled. Overall I would come here again since it's by the river walk and it's a great establishment. read more

One of the best bars I've ever been to, the staff are great, bartenders are friendly. I met the owners they're good people. The establishment has history, they have karaoke night on Tuesdays I believe, and on the weekends they have a dance floor and DJ in the back. Good crowd, no issues there, the security are on top of things. They have a pool table (billiards). This visit was... disappointing. After driving several hours on a road trip, my boyfriend and I decided to stop here to eat. Although the service was decent and there weren't any issues with the building, the food was awful. The burger I ordered had cheese that looked like it had been sitting out for a while, and the fries were gross. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs, and he didn't like any of it. The hash browns were a super weird consistency and also were very gross. Do not recommend, and I really wish we decided to go somewhere else. read more

I walked in on a Sunday night and this place is cracking! Plenty of women and great atmosphere. I was greeted immediately by the bartender and was seat at the bar. They have a great selection of local beers and cocktails. The staff was friendly and they were on it when it came to service. Unfortunately I wasn't able to check out the entire menu because I came a bit late but the fried food menu was available. I enjoyed a good dark beer that was local. 3.5 stars. We came here on a weekday evening to chill after work. Servers are really nice. You can get parking along the street if you're lucky. Food was decent too. I tried the slopper version of the chile burger and my friend tried the Limited edition burger. I also got a traditional margarita, while she got a beer on the tap. This is my first time trying the slopper so I didn't really know what to expect. The plate that came looked and tasted better than what I've seen in pictures. Guess I was also pretty hungry because I did finish everything I got :) The limited edition burger was decent. Their fries were quite delicious. The margarita was a little too sweet for my liking. The beer was a little fruity so I didn't hate it (can't stand beer at all). Expect this place to be on my list to go back again. read more

Visited the Senate on May 20, 2022 and had an absolute wonderful time. The pool tables upstairs were busy and fun; we were able to hop right into some pool games and played for quite some time with new friends. We enjoyed the relaxing divey atmosphere in the main bar area, and even dipped our toes in the louder dance area in the back that was so full of life and excitement. The beer selection was incredible with an amazing special we didn't forget; 2 for $5 miller high life's. They tasted great and we enjoyed many over the period of several hours. Overall, a magical environment with a certain ambience and radiance we remembered and looked forward to visiting again in the future. Flash forward to May 19th, 2023. We walked in to pool tables closed, the downstairs bar area quite lifeless and lackluster, and the dance area with not a single person or really any music playing. On top of it all, 2 for $5 high life's no longer existed. Really quite a tragedy to us. Instead we were greeted with $2.75 nearly expired high life's that left us feeling empty inside. Our experience will not be forgotten. The joy and love that once filled our hearts, love for a favorite local dive feels ripped from our souls and replaced with a sad, longing feeling. To the Senate, we are disappointed. But we will be back, possibly in one year's time and we still long for the environment we once fell in love with and we have hope that it will return to its radiance one day. Wish I could separate the ratings for the food and service. The service was outstanding! Give our server 5 stars. The food however was a bust. We are always looking for new places to eat and so we were very excited to hear the Senate had great food. I ordered the meatball sub and BF had the breakfast sandwich which came with hash browns and he also ordered the Italian sub (don't remember what it's called here). Both sandwiches came with fries. The fries in both baskets came to the table limp, cool, and greasy. His hash browns were undercooked and not seasoned. My meatball sub was decent in that the sauce was tasty but the meatballs were bland tasting. So sad given the meal was almost $40. Would not recommend the food here. Went here during a work trip. Originally tried to go to the nearby brewhouse, but they didn't have any available tables. Ended up ordering the Senate sandwich with chips and a draft beer. I'm addition to the chips that came with my sandwich, we were served homemade tortilla chips and salsa. Both were amazing! The chips were light and crunchy and the salsa very flavorful with a bit of heat. The sandwich was also pretty great. It wasn't fancy, but the sausage patty was flavorful and the bread soft. This place is in a super cute part of town and it has a great ambiance with large windows! We started by ordering appetizers which were mozzarella sticks and chips and salsa. The mozzarella sticks were yummy but I wasn't the biggest fan of the salsa, however the chips were delicious. I also ordered the Slopper which is a cheese burger with French fries on top and smothered in green chili. I found it to be very delicious. I also drank a house margarita and it was muy delicioso. A friend and I enjoyed a road trip from Denver to Santa Fe last week. For some reason, I always crave a Patty Melt when I am driving long distances. We did a bit of research on YELP which led us to the Senate for lunch. We were very impressed with downtown Puebloand it's charming but quiet atmosphere. The Senate was in an interesting, historic building full of old photos, interesting local characters and delicious sandwiches. My friend ordered a classic Pueblo Slopper and I, of course, ordered a Patty Melt. Both were fabulous and satisfying. I love it when Patty Melts do not include Thousand Island dressing! We can definitely recommend the Senate to fellow travelers and locals, alike! read more

We played bingo on valentine's day and they had space open for a cool and casual evening with good music. Slightly loud but a wonderful homey feel. Food was a unique selection and came out rapidly, only qualm was the has brown could have been dried a touch longer to avoid being damp. Right upon entering the staff was awesome, said hi, asked how I was doing and made sure I knew that i mattered. Cam the bartender made sure I knew where the menu was and made sure I had a drink before I sat down. He offered great recommendations for food, and explained what was great about the options. I got the cream cheese burger and I would have taken a picture but unlike a basic b^*!¥ I ate before my phone. Was pretty disappointed with the food. The menu said their salad had mixed greens, although when it came out, it was iceberg lettuce. My salad had more yellow and white lettuce than it did green lettuce. If your picky with your salads, or prefer a fresh salad, don't order one from here. The jalapeño poppers were some how too dry and wet, the fries were floppy they don't know what salt is, the burger was completely devoid of spice and taste This was the worst most flavorless dry turd of a burger on earth and to top it off there was something hard in the cheese curds. Disappointed. I now prefer to spend money at businesses that didn't dispute Covid safety measures or the validity this pandemic that has killed 400,000+ Americans. At one point the owner of this establishment asserted to me Senate bartenders were better equipped than the PhD. holding CDC professionals to decide when public safety issues should be followed. I loved this bar, but they absolutely betrayed Pueblo, Colorado when it was at one of its most critical moments. They do not have the right to my patronage or yours as they did not have the moral foundation to save lives instead of worship fithy lucre. Sure they had bills to pay, we ALL had/have bills to pay. I went in right before the kitchen closed after lunch. The bartender/waiter came over and let us know that the kitchen was about to close. He was really friendly. But it was 1:30 and that seemed a little bit early. And what's the point of being open between lunch and dinner if you are only serving drinks. I ordered a cheeseburger. It was fine. Nothing to write Yelp about. But the service was really good. I didn't feel rushed as I nibbled at my average burger and had a nice, long conversation.
