Came early with grand daughter in her stroller. Had no trouble finding parking at 4:45. Great selection of all different types of ethnic foods to choose from, as well as desserts. The 4 of us sampled Venezuelan sandwich, Greek gyros, NW cedar plank salmon, Mexican fish tacos, French macaroons, cookie dough cheesecake, and tart lemon bars. For street food, all was pretty good. Stand-up tables are scattered about the area and live music is showcased in more than one place. All ages and types of people attended, so the people watching was fun. I enjoy going to this local event that takes place every Thursday evening in Downtown Oceanside. I attend every other week or so. The best way to describe it is like a mix of a farmers market/street fair/street vendor food. There are so many types of food and unique shopping to choose from. In addition this takes place among the area with lots of bars and restaurants . Its like the whole community comes out and mingles. There is always a live band playing. This place is packed. If you don't mind the crowds then you will survive. Someone said this place is like the sd fair minus the rides. I think was a good description. There are a lot of vendors. The farmers market somehow attracts a younger crowd. Families with strollers -- it's a challenge to navigate the market. Parking is also hard to find. You got to have patience. Some people don't realize that the Farmers Market is in the morning starting at 9am one block up in front of City Hall. It's really nice. The street fair is later in the afternoon around 2pm. It's has a lot of hot food deserts and other vendors. I love going here, we usually bring family from out of town, to come and enjoy an array of delicious foods. I usually opt for a gyro they are so good, last time I came here my boyfriend got the pad Thai, it had shrimp it was delicious! This time I opted to try something new and I got the curry, BEST decision ever! It's a fairly large entree it contains rice and your choice of curry so 2 people can share. There are so many vendors and so much to choose from. If you jut want to walk around or eat there's a lot to choose from. It does get crowded but people are very friendly. I've never had a problem. Thursday nights in Oceanside are awesome downtown on mission because of this market. Food is amazing and from all sorts of it. Then usually always live music with local bands that most seem decent enough. Then the vendors u can buy various of product from are cool. All kinds of stuff. Ali and I try to come here at least once or twice a month from San Clemente. It's a great outdoor market with maybe 50+ restaurant and catering food vendors from the area, and another 75 to 100 booths for crafts, clothes, gadgets, services. Wow this is a great market! It kind of reminds me of going to the fair. I went to Da Big Show BBQ and got ribs, baked beans, and Mac and Cheese. The ribs were pretty smokey which is a good thing. I liked that they weren't super fall off the bone. Funny thing is though that I was originally going to go to That Boy Good but then I saw this market and went to a different BBQ place. Also I went to Na Pali Coast Frozen Organics and I got the Wookie which is an ice cream cookie and it is really good. Lol there was a stand bragging about their hot chocolate which is Hershey's, now if it were Eclipse Hot Chocolate, I'd be like OMG! read more

It is fairly big for a weekly gathering. There are around 10 food options. Other nick knacks and some veggies,flowers and stuff. Music is played and plenty of dogs to be seen. Do check Leroy's sweet potato shack! AWESOME! the organic honey lady is Very friendly and the veggie and flowers sellers, So Cheap! The food court food is A-OK. The other stands seem to have same stuff every week. One guy with an OCD seems to make damn good art. Its a great happening on Thursdays but it will get a tad bit old after err 3 weeks. read more

My husband and I took our son camping In Oceanside for the weekend and decided to head on over to the Sunset Market for dinner. We were surprised at the vast array of foods to choose from! We walked the entire market before deciding on what to eat. I settled on Pad Thai. It was delicious! Upon request she made it extra spicy. The portion was huge and full of sprouts, noodles, carrots, large fresh shrimp, and an amazing sauce. Definitely a good value at $8. My husband had the best find, a local sausage and meat maker, the Meat Men. He had a spicy Cajun sausage stuffed with smoked Gouda that was then stuffed into an amazing fresh French baguette, also from a local shop. It was topped with sauerkraut and a spicy brown mustard. Incredible. We went back for a brat and sweet Italian sausage as well. At present time they are a very small shoppe, hopefully people will catch on. They had plenty of food vendors, I wish I could have tried more. The dessert aisle looked amazing. They also had vendors selling wares, never pushy and incredibly friendly. My husband and I will definitely be heading back, but maybe without our son. Some parts and people made it not too family friendly. read more

I had so much fun here walking around with a friend last night! Come hungry! First off, if you have any image in your mind of a "farmer's market", remove it. This is not a farmer's market by any stretch of the imagination. But, there's plenty to eat, all kinds of food stands. I had a great fresh juice, I bought cheese from Chez Elliott and he was great. Will give you samples and explain the differences in the cheeses. I am going to have to go back another time when I have room for the extra calories to satisfy my funnel cake need! So basically, picture a county fair, some trinket shopping, homemade soaps, eating, things on a stick, baked sweets, chocolate covered strawberries, grilled meats, throw in a couple bands and that's your Thursday night! Enjoy! Oh....I would have given this 5 stars had it been advertised as a street fair. But it was advertised as a market, so that's why I took one star away. Psst....go get a garlic grater! My husband and I just moved here in January and have made our way to the market a handful of times now. Everything we have tried has been delicious! Our favorites are: wow wow lemonade, Hawaiian BBQ, freshly made mini donuts, the lobster rolls, and pirogies were amazing! Only thing I would advise to not go to is the cookie lady...I got a cupcake there and paid about 5.00 for it. my first bite I took, I could immediately tell that they used canned icing and I was expecting something made from scratch. read more
