We decided to try this after being Season Pass members at Otter Cove. I will say it is a nice pool. My kids actually said they prefer Sunset over Otter Cove. Clean bathrooms/locker area, plenty of deck chairs, big umbrellas provide plenty of shade. The slides, swimming areas, sand vb courts, grass areas, and splash pad are all well-maintained. It's easy to keep track of the kids at this pool bc it's not too big, but there's plenty of space for people of all ages to play in the pool. The #1 great thing about Sunset Pool are the lifeguards, who take their jobs seriously and do their jobs well to keep the pool a safe & fun place to spend the summer. They are always scanning the water, practicing drills and keeping up with their CPR certs. Ask anyone who visits Sunset Pool and they'll tell you the same thing. I do think the concessions are too pricey for a small town pool, but that's why we also like to bring our own cooler of snacks and drinks to enjoy during swim breaks. read more

Not a good place for swimmers at all, so on top of their horrible hours for lap swimming, their freezing cold water temperatures they also didn't allow me to put my swimming training equipment on for "safety" reasons... What a joke. Went on a 96 degree day and paid to enter only for it to be "adult swim" hour. We had things to get to in an hour so we couldn't wait. These clowns refused to give us a refund and it was like $13 for each of us. We were never told that it was adult swim hour when we paid. Great pool facility but I hate the atmosphere. Imagine for a second that you are trying to relax and enjoy a swim with your family and for two to three hours I took over the music and blasted nothing but aggressive heavy metal. How many people would complain or run screaming from the area? The anger would rise in your body, you would want to find something pointy to stab into your ears, or maybe want to bury your head in a towel and hold yourself underwater, praying for it to stop. That's how I feel when being force fed loud, basic pop music in every corner of the pool area at all times. We even have to hear it on the baseball fields outside. Why alienate a percentage of your customers? Turn it down. Even turn it off for a while and have some quiet. Not everyone likes the music you do. Some actually hate it. read more

We've been to several pools in the Fox Valley area and Sunset is one of my favorites. Cost wise it's on the pricey side at $16 for my son and I. I heard they had summer pass rates but those didn't appeal as I knew we wouldn't make enough trips here to justify the price. As for the pool itself, we like the different amenities. My son really likes the different slides (3) and the shoot slides (2). One of the slides allows you to use an inner tube (single or double) which the pool provides. Two of their three slides are half, the other is totally enclosed. The Shoot slides..at least that's what I call them, are slides set at about a 70 degree angle that plunge you into the pool fast a furious. They also added two poolside rock walls that you can climb and then fall backwards into the pool with. These are mainly for the kiddo's but adults should give it a try if the coast is clear. Outside of the pool I like the fact that they have sand volleyball courts, although we didn't get the opportunity to use them. They have quite a few chairs for patrons but on warm days they go quick, so get here early or be prepared to towel it in the grass. They have a snack stand but we didn't venture over. About the only thing I didn't care for here was the crowd. Way too many people. This made the pool nearly unusable, rendering the slides about the only thing to do. Sunset pool is definitely one of the nicest pools in the Tri-city area. However, it seems to get more expensive every year. My family has found pool passes to not be worth how many times you have to visit the pool to get your money's worth. And the general admission adds up really fast. But if you don't mind the cost, Sunset pool has a lot to offer. From their sandbox playground, two drop slides, tubs and body slides, concessions area, and both swimming areas for adults and kids, there is really something for everyone here. All the amenities are updated pretty often. I would say it is generally very clean. Overall, I would give Sunset a good rating for the area. But there is nothing overly amazing about this aquatic facility. But if you are in Geneva and need a place to cool off. It's worth the admission. read more

Sunset Pool (part of the Geneva Dark District) is tucked away from the rush of the main streets. The Winner of the National Recreation & Parks Association 2008 Excellence in Aquatics Award houses Heated water, Zero-depth areas, 8 lap lanes at 5 feet depth, a Tube slide, 2 Body slides, 2 Drop slides at 12 feet depth, a Tot slide, a Sand play area, 2 Sand volleyball courts along with a concession stand/area, plenty of lounge chairs and large sunumbrellas for shade. We were there for a birthday party and had the "no frills" party, which allowed us to bring our own cake and snacks. Unfortunately the kids were hungry for food so we had Dominoes' delivered some pizzas then ate on Sun Hill over looking the pool area. It was a really nice day for a pool party. The pool is open daily Monday to Sunday from 12:30p - 8:00p. Daily fees differ between Geneva residents and non-residents but are fairly reasonable for all the fun you and your little ones will have. Pool passes are available as are parties/rentals and again, the price varies for residents and non-residents. It's a far ride from the North-West side of Chicago but I would visit the Pool again with or without a party to attend. So go ahead and pack a lunch, through the kids in the car, and spend the day at Sunset pool. read more

Totally enjoy this pool. Lots for a family to do: Sand area, zero depth area, deep end, water slides, drop slides. Only one draw back, there seems to be a LOT of periods when the pool is closed due to " foreign substances" in the pool. Truly not Sunsets fault but kind of creepy. read more

We've been to Sunset Pool both for swimming lessons and recreational use, and we've really enjoyed it. The Geneva Park District offers about six sessions of swimming lessons each summer, each over a two-week period (with the exception of Saturday lessons, which go throughout the summer). That works out really well if you want your child to take swimming lessons, but need to work around summer camp or a family vacation. I have nothing but positive things to say about the swim program! The kids are tested on the first day, then grouped by age and ability level. Parents are allowed to watch on the first and last day, but must sit on the sidelines - away from the lessons - every other day. This means that kids are not distracted by their parents - they listen to their teachers and try things they might otherwise be hesitant to do. We really appreciated this aspect, as confidence is something we have been working to instill in my five-year-old stepdaughter, and these swim lessons served as a great platform. The instructors provide parents with a daily update, explaining what their children did well, and what they need to work on. That was motivation enough for our little one, who desperately wanted to move up to the next level (and did so!). She loved the experience, and we did too. And best of all, she is a much better swimmer as a result! The pool is otherwise open from 12:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from the end of May to the beginning of September (holiday hours vary) for recreational swim. Rates range from about $7-8 per day for residents, or $10-12 for non-residents. The pool features four water slides, including an inner-tube slide (and they have tubes for two). There is a separate children's area with fountains and water play activities, including a small castle/water slide. There's also a sandy play area for kids, as well as grassy areas. They have done a very nice job laying it all out, and we've found plenty to do whenever we are there. Sunset Pool also offers lap swim for adults from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. from June to mid-August for about $2 a day, or about $35 a season (which is clearly the better deal if you plan to go often). My only complaint would be that we often have difficulty finding lounge chairs in the afternoons, as many people like to "save" spots or throw their towels on a chair they never plan to use. read more

The place is awesome, but it's always super crowded and busy. There's two drop slides, a raft slide, and two body slides. There's also a splash pad and playground in the very shallow spartan of the pool. Overall, awesome place to take kids, not the best place for relaxing. read more

It's a nice pool, don't get me wrong, it's great for younger kids and all. However, unpotty-trained kids crap in the pool all the time. It has happened multiple times during some visits. Kids who are not potty trained, should not be allowed to bring their kids to public pools. As a parent, I would certainly not. The snack area is pretty nice, not nearly enough tables, and their overpriced "personal pizza" loses cheese every year. Great place to spend the day, but it certainly has its flaws. read more

It's fun. I've been at better... there are plenty of activities and its very popular. Activities take up pool and are reserved. Not everyone can enjoy the pool when they'd like, because it's being reserved. Pools are mostly clean. It's fun with great slides. And volleyball courts are fun add to the pool. Took my 4-year old son here for their final "Flick n' Float" of the season. He had a blast. What a fun facility - perfect for his age group with a small slide, a castle in the water, sand area, a playground. The movie started around 8:10 pm and it was a wonderful experience for the family to be able to bring tubes, hang in the pool, watch a good kids movie & play. We will be back next summer! read more

If you're not a member and plan on paying $8 per person be aware there are NO REFUNDS. My daughter went to swim for 1:15. I decided to let her go bc the summer has been rainy and we finally had a hot early evening. Unfortunately after 5 minutes of swimming, the pool shut down for 50 minutes bc of poop or vomit. She had another obligation later in the day therefore could not stay longer after it was finally cleaned up. $8 for 5 minutes of swimming. I spoke to the young staff and all they do is point to a sign in the window stating no refunds for pool closure.I had no problem paying $8 for an hour 15 min of swimming but 5min. is upsetting. read more

The Sunset Pool isn't exactly your dream pool. By the looks of it, it seems like a great place, but it certainly has its disappointments. The first one you will encounter is the prices. If you don't technically live within the city lines of Geneva, it will set you back 4 extra dollars per person. For a family of four to spend a day at the pool, it costs just shy of 50 dollars, which doesn't even include the price of snacks/food. Speaking of their food, it's pretty mediocre. There is a large selection, which is nice, but it seems that quantity trumps quality. It's extremely overpriced, and it isn't even like it's amazing food. And don't even get me started on the lifeguards. Most of them are 15-year-old jerks with no patience whatsoever that get paid $20 an hour to take a 15-minute swim break every 2 hours. There are also way too many instances where the pool is closed because some 1-year-old kid whose mom doesn't care about anyone else takes a crap in the pool and it's closed for half an hour. Between this, lifeguard breaks, and adult swims, there seems to be very little time for kids to enjoy swimming. So basically, if you're a millionaire with lots of money to blow who has extreme tolerance for moronic lifeguards and kids pooping in the pool nonstop, this is the place for you, If not, you may want to reconsider your next visit to the Sunset Pool. read more
