I have been going to this place for the past few years. Apparently they recently move their location slightly to the back of Costco but there are signs by the gas line to direct you back there. Location moved to the back of the Costco. My kids like to collect cans and water bottles to change them in for $. What they collect is their money. This location is convenient and clean. The process has clear instructions, quick, organized, and my kids can place their items on their own. I just supervise. There is a wash/sanitation station for your hands. Workers are polite and helpful. The receipt shows gross-rare-net-price-total. We just did water bottles and my kids were happy with their return. I highly recommend this place. read more

They also have a small station where you can wash your hands with soap and water which was nice! Tip: they are located next to Costco Cypress right next to the tires area. Location of the recycling ctr has moved from the front of costco to the back, which I think is more better. Their is better parking and is away from all the costco customers coming in. Kevin was also very helpful and gave tips on how to better recycle to get more money back. First time here and I was very impressed. First no crowds when I got there.. Then great setup.. Nice baskets for plastics and cans.. And Kevin and Nate to take care of you. Love the canopy to protect you from the sun and rain (when we get some). They even have a container and soap to wash your hands after handling your can and plastics. I decided to write a review because I just recycle my cans at a different recycling center. I was here many months ago and after recycling my cans, I got about $35 for a car full of cans. I just came back from a different recycling center and I got $80 for a car full of cans. I have the same car. I felt I was being underpaid for my cans but I didn't want to make a scene. The workers were nice and helpful. But, they shouldn't shortchange anyone because it's not right. I hope they have a better system to allow customers to see they are getting a fair deal. Definitely, I won't be returning here. I almost felt like it was maybe time to give up recycling. But after going to a new recycling center, my faith is back knowing there are honest people. read more

I've been here twice; my first time was kind of a test run to see what they were like and I only brought a handful of bottles but I got a handful of coins in exchange, and with that I was hooked! The fellow was very helpful and courteous as he took my recyclables. The second time I brought the rest of my haul, sorting them myself into two different wire bins for plastics and cans, and a large solid plastic garbage bin for the glass bottles. My total came to $4.89. I don't know if this is normal or if he was just out of change (because I know there is a coin shortage at the moment) but he gave me a fresh crisp five dollar bill! read more

UPDATE 8/18/22: Closed for lunch 1-1:30pm. Even though the sign at the center said: "We're open," apparently lunch is from 1:00pm-1:30pm and they will not take recyclables at that time. Please take lunch absolutely, but the owner needs to post this in their hours online/in person, etc. I had a car full of recyclables and it was 1:01pm. I couldn't do other work until I emptied my car. Just post your hours correctly please!!! I had a really positive experience at the Sunset Recycling in Cypress last Sunday. I was greeted right away by Kevin. He showed me the orange baskets I needed for my recyclables and how to separate them. He made the whole process super easy and pleasant. I was actually having a bad day and Kevin genuinely asked me how I was doing, sounding like he actually cared. The interaction cheered me up completely. Thanks for the great professional customer service Kevin and for being a kind human being! **When you come to this recycling center, I recommend entering from Costco Way off of Walker Street.** That way you can avoid some of the wild Costco customer driving if you enter via Katella. It's located in the Costco parkingbehind the gas station line and there are designated parking spots set aside for the recyclers. :) read more

Place is located behind the Costco! So check there in the back. I've been going here for years to recycle and they used to be in the front where the gas station is so makes sense they're in the back. More parking and less chance of getting smacked by a car. Now to service: the folks that work here are very nice and friendly. They even help sort your recycling out. Best of all: they have a little hand washing station! No more dirty hands after recycling. If you live in the cypress area or anywhere in the surrounding cities come by because they're local and by showing up, it supports their business. read more

Went to this location with my seven-year-old. Trying to teach her the value of recycling and taking care of our planet. I waited a long time to go and ended up having 16 large black trash cans full of compacted plastic water bottles. I stackeda dozen of them on top of my Sequoia and tied them down. I had several others inside the car. Although my seven-year-old was helping me, it was taking long for us to get all of the black trash bags down off of the car. I met Memo, who said he is there most of the time. He helped me empty the bags into the weighing containers and also sent his coworker to help take the bulk of our black trash bags off the top of our vehicle. This was unexpected, but very helpful and customer service oriented. They were very friendly, explaining that they deal with all types of people at this location. The guys were very easy to work with, friendly the talk to, and helpful during our time at this location. Definitely would recommend trying them out. Hopefully you'll have a great experience as well. read more
