Had such a great time, booked during our quick little trip to Hawaii. We got to ride Buckles and Ikaika (hope I spelled it right) both horses were very sweet. Views were amazing. Definitely recommend on our way out we even seen a unicorn totally made it magical for the little girl having that experience

    Cute place!

Free Petting Zoo in Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii... I saw a sign and turned my car around to investigate Gunstock Ranch. My niece loves animals and I thought that this would be a great place to take her because there's no reservation needed for the Petting Zoo. (Her schedule is unpredictable.) There was a tortoise, a few bunnies, some goats, a couple of cows, and a sheep. Enter and exit the gates on your own carefully. Feed is available for sale at $2 per bag. Other merchandise was available, too! Park on the lawn for free! Workers were all friendly, helpful, and competent! If you want to book a pony ride, an off-road Eco Tour, a tree planting session, or a horseback ride, contact them at 808-354-0244 or gunstockranch.com

We booked our first ever horseback ride experience for an 11:30am group session and lucky for it, it turned out that no one else booked the same time so it turned out to be a couples experience. Our wrangler was Cooper, he was very chill and knowledgeable. He gave us simple instructions on how to handle a horse, how to hop on and off, steering the horses, as well as the do's and dont's. Once we started, we started to realize how smart these horses are. Patriot, the horse that Cooper was on took a long piss after stepping to the side and Buckles, the horse I rode behind him knew to stop, and Raider, my wife rode him, stepped to the side and had to poop to the side also. Cooper and us talked about each others lives, got to know Cooper a bit more and how awesome he is, Cooper also explained each horse's unique personalities. He said that Buckles is dramatic when he puts on his munchie bag, Raider seems to always make his own route but still somehow follows us. Patriot, he's one of the somewhat tall horses that Cooper likes to ride and showed us that one of his shoes came off during a muddy ride, he explained that the mud can unmount the shoes so he has temporary boot on. Cooper disclosed that we can take our own pictures as long as we have one hand on the rope and our hemet is secured. Towards some parts of the trail, Cooper offered to take pics at the mountain peak and at a flat part of the trail with no mud. We got back at the end and visit the small petting zoo, saw goats, cows, chickens, ponies, bunnies and one chicken name Stumbles. We overall had a great couples experience and having Cooper as our wrangler. We do have one small problem, we wish the website had updated with more of our pictures uploaded that Cooper took, it seems that we only got the pics uploaded from Ocean, the girl from the check-in building. I bet we just need to give them call to have them upload the rest so for now, I'll keep it at 4 stars till we call them after we get back home.

First Time Here We have 3 boys (11, 14, 16 years old), everything is BORING. So we had to be creative and do activity that they would all enjoy. They all have had horse camp in the past, we decided to sign up for the horsemanship experience. After trotting a few times and not falling off, we were able to pick up speed more often throughout our ride. Talie & Hunter were our guides and they were super friendly and patient with our family of 5. The top of the trail led us to an ocean view. This was an all day experience if you are coming from Waikiki.

We stopped by Gunstock Ranch with our almost-2-year-old just for the free petting zoo (not the horseback tours). It was such a sweet little stop! I wouldn't make a special trip just for this, but if you're already on the North Shore, it's a perfect bonus activity for little kids after the beach. The petting zoo had a great variety of animals: goats, sheep, cows, rabbits, and a pony. Plus, plenty of horses nearby that kids can see up close. It was actually the first time my son saw a real cow, which was surprisingly hard to find on the island. The staff was super friendly. One of them made a point to tell us (more than once) that we didn't have to buy animal treats, but we still did. Looks like they changed the price for $2 per bag just recently but it was still worth it. There are restrooms on-site and a hand-washing station with soap. Everything felt clean, safe, and very kid-welcoming. Overall, it's a fun and easy stop to work into your day if you're already on the North Shore with a kid. We loved it!

We came here on a Saturday evening for the one and a half hour sunset tour. It took us a while to drive here to the north side of the island, but it was a beautiful drive and we made a bunch of stops along the way. This place was easy to find using Google maps. Once we drove down the dirt path and parked on the grass, we were quickly checked in, given the option to wear a helmet or not, and weighed on the scale to match us with the perfect horse. While we waited, we were able to go to their small petting zoo, feed the animals, and pet some of the horses. Our two lady tour guides were wonderful. They were very informative and kind. They gave us some history about the horses and the ranch. We had a safe and enjoyable ride with stunning views.

The experience at gunstock Ranch was nothing short of amazing. My friend had initially booked this reservation for us to plant a tree together in honor of her late father. We arrived at gunstock Ranch about 10 minutes prior to our reservation to which we were greeted warmly and proceeded to be shown around by Summer and Devin, who are both wonderful friendly and just enjoy to have conversation with. Our first stop was picking a plant for us to be able to put into a designated plot of land where we were able to discuss the purpose behind the tree planting as well as have the plants be watered by using an ipu (I think I'm saying that right). While we were going about this tree planting experience our conversation with both Devon and Summer were nothing short of personal and engaging. They were both very knowledgeable about the area and made us feel at home and at peace every step of the way. Once we got up to the vantage point (which was kind of a bumpy ride, but nevertheless enjoyable), we looked out, and we were just amazed by the beautiful weather and the momentous occasion of this particular experience. I'm eager to return to learn how to go horseback riding and I am definitely going to be asking for Devin and the Summer again!

We visited and did a one hour horseback tour with guide Sydnie & had the horses Nelly & Shaka. It was such a great experience and was such a beautiful and chill way to spend our birthday celebration. All the staff were so friendly and great and you can tell the horses are well taken care of. Thank you Gunstock Ranch for the amazing day!

Absolutely beautiful horse ride. The guides are very sweet and were so helpful. The horses are very friendly and easy to ride, even a child would be able to! Not to mention the gorgeous scenery. If you are new to Oahu, I definitely recommend this ride for a great time!

We booked a 9:30 1hr horseback ride, and were told to arrive by 8:45. Once we checked in we waited for all riding parties to arrive. They gave us a safety type meeting/guidance instructions. They later lined us up and picked a horse for us. I got to ride Mochi and my brother got Bud! Connor and Talie guided us through the entirety of the ride and made sure everything went smoothly. It was so much fun, def recommend and def would return! :)

We had such a fun time on our ride this week. Our guides Liv and Ocean were great and shared a wealth of knowledge about the land, horses and scenery along the trail. Please give extra treats to our horses, Raider, Buckles, and Boon.

We had an awesome time here at gunstock ranch, our guide was Conner and we got lucky being the only 2 on the group tour. He was super laid back and personable. He was very knowledgeable about the ranch and answered any questions we had. We are from Okc and when we come back to Oahu this is definitely a place we plan to come back and hopefully bring our family along too!

Gunstock Ranch offers a unique experience combining horseback riding with sweeping views across the North Shore of O'ahu. The horses are well behaved and welcome first time riders. The guides are experienced and offer an enthusiastic tour of a pristine section of the island. The staff is welcoming and helpful in every way.

Highly recommend visiting Kualoa Ranch and doing this popular tour! The land is ginormous and offer sooo many different tours. I'll def come back and book one of the tour activities for horseback riding and zip-lining. The UTV tour is two hours long and you can either self-drive the UTV or book one with the tour guide. Each UTV has enough room for up to 6 people I believe. We paid $162.79 per person. They make you arrive 45 min beforehand but we showed up 25 mins beforehand and it was fine. You check in with the folks behind the counter and then they'll lead you to the area with the numbered table benches. They still made us wait for the group before us to leave before we even could line up by those tables. Once you check in, they give you a neck scarf (which you can keep) and try on helmets and goggles. You can bring your own goggles or wear sunglasses too. They make you sign waivers and also check your IDs if you're driving. Each time slot has up to 10 groups and you drive in a line, stopping at about 3-4 stops. Our tour guides were awesome and very knowledgeable in telling us facts about the different film stops. I'm a big movie/ TV show fan so it was really cool seeing some of these places in person! They had infamous sets from Jurassic World, Jumanji, King Kong, etc. They gave us plenty of time to check out some of the stops and take pictures. They're also really nice and offered to take multiple pics for us, including one with a big dinosaur in the background (they carry a dinosaur toy for these pics lol). Make sure you book in advance because they fill up the time slots quick! You will get dirty from the UTV drive so I recommend wearing something that you don't mind getting messy. Also bring a mask or wear their neck scarf so you don't breathe in the dust. At the beginning of the tour, they take your picture and then sell printed copy as a souvenir at the end for $20. They have a food court, gift shop, and bathrooms inside. There's also plenty of parking which is a plus!

This was a good experience. I came here with my boyfriend for his birthday and we did have fun, but…read morethe whole experience also felt kind of awkward. The ATV ride itself was enjoyable. We drove around different trails, got to see nice views and some animals along the way, which was cool. We came about a month after the storms, so the scenery wasn't at its absolute best, but that's totally understandable and not a complaint at all. It is pretty expensive though, around $130 per person, and feeding the animals was an extra $10 for small pellets to feed the cows and goats. The views and experience were still nice, but for the price, we expected the overall service to feel a little more polished. The main thing that stood out was the guides. We had two guides and they were both really quiet and awkward. They didn't really explain much or try to interact with us, which made the vibe feel uncomfortable at times. My boyfriend and I even tried making conversation, but they just weren't very chatty. It honestly felt kind of tense the whole ride. At the end, things got even more awkward because one of the guides basically disappeared without saying goodbye or telling us what to do next. We were just standing there confused with our gear, not knowing where to put anything or whether we were supposed to check out somewhere. The other guide mentioned they had just started working there and wasn't sure what the next steps were either, which is understandable, but it still felt a little unprofessional considering how much the experience cost. Also, when booking, there was a section asking if we were celebrating anything, and I mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday. We weren't expecting anything free or over-the-top, but it would've been nice if someone had at least acknowledged it since they specifically asked during booking. Overall, the ATV ride and scenery were fun, but the customer service and overall organization definitely could've been better for the price point.

We avoided the morning traffic, had great views of the morning sun and then rest of the day to enjoy other activities. They have a small store with clothing, bags, jewelry and snacks/drinks and small lockers for your stuff. The one purchase recommendation - they sell cell phone holders that you attach to your phone and you can carry your phone around your neck. My youngest looked at pictures and thought it would be too high so we cancelled her reservation. In hindsight, she would have loved every second of it and I regret not encouraging her more to try it. I'm sure even if she was scared meeting the guides would have helped her find her courage. They do a practice zip line before going to the higher ones and working your way zip lining down. I climbed more on this zipline system than on any other I've ever been on. They mentioned rappelling but there was no rappelling instead it was a safety descent rope to get you down from 2 platforms. The rope bridges weren't for fun. They were there as purely functional to get you from platform to platform. They say your feet don't touch the ground for 2.5 hours. Instead it should state you will be walking or standing for over 2 hours. It was a very tiring zipline and the ocean view was very distant. Not at all like advertised. JT did not control stops. He led to injuries for everyone in our group. To JT everything was a joke. I have a huge bruise on my shin from the first landing. I asked what I did wrong and they said nothing. Well, I did something wrong or the guides did something wrong to have hit so hard and immediately form a huge bruise. On the next run I came in so hot (fast) that I hit the block at a high rate of speed and knocked it off the platform and bruised my toe and cracked my toe nail. The impact coming in to the brake was very painful. JT said "Oh, that happens all the time". Kicking a block at a high rate of speed and causing injury to someone's foot shouldn't happen all the time. My daughter bruised her hand coming in while holding the handlebars. And has a serious bruise on her toe from the landing. Probably another misplaced box or hot stop. The most scary thing is that my son cut his eye when he stood on the box after the landing. He cut it on the metal breaking devise. He was wearing sunglasses and that saved his eye. His eye was cut and bruised and he now has a black eye. He was directed to a first aid kit which as his mother I cleaned and help with compression until the bleeding stopped. The guides didn't even pause to render aid. No analysis of what happened to make sure it doesn't happen again occurred. The block placement and the way we were brought in, I almost hit my eye on the metal brake when I unwillingly went to TJ's line on the last run. Silva is very good at her job. I didn't have an issue when I was on her lines even when I got twisted and came in backwards. Katie is meticulous, friendly and excellent at making you feel comfortable. I tried to reach out to someone at the company but no one would return my call. I received a call a week later and he was very apologetic and said he will look into the situation and make sure everyone stays safe. I appreciate the call and the follow up.
