I have been to this store many times and always easily find helpful and knowlegeable people. The manager I think is Kurt and he goes out of his way to help. I am amazed really at how easily they answer questions from someone like me who has little idea of how things work or what device I actually need t solve a problem. The big box stores are full of materials but not many people there (if you can find one) know everything about everything like Ace Hardware. I couldn't find any business that would make a replacement screen & frame for me. A handyman who "specialized in screens" charged me $150 for one that he cut too narrow! I saw an ad in the paper for Ace, so I emailed the Bonita Springs store and they said they do make them! I dropped off my measurements, paid 64.96 (including tax) and it was ready within the hour! I am going to give them all the business I can and stop buying at the big box stores! Regretfully, I forgot the name of the gentleman that made the screen for me, but he gets my sincere thanks, for giving me a one that fit perfectly! I was super excited when I walked in here and noticed they are now offering a wide range of fishing gear from beginner to high end fishing poles to swim baits to reels to fishing lines to tackle. As a person who loves to fish inshore and offshore, I'm always searching for specialized gear and often have trouble finding what I need at one location which makes it frustrating. This store has a huge line up of St. Croix rods and Shimano reels great for any type of fishing with all of the latest artificial baits to include the new Gambler line up. They stock many of my favorite fishing tackle like Live Target, DOA, Gambler, RaPala , Sebile to local tackle like T&A. They also have ton of fishing clothing from Pelagic gear to Columbia like PFG. You can even purchase your fishing license here for saltwater, Gulf reef and snook permits. I came in here looking for a paintbrush and ended buying a ton of fishing gear like a kid in a candy store. The customer Service Rep. was very knowledgeable and we talked about fishing for a good 30 minutes. I definitely recommend this place for a great one stop shop for all your fishing needs. The service was stellar and they know their stuff! For starters the employees here are slow as molasses. Very inconsiderate and after you've waited 25 minutes in line at the service desk, an elderly woman walks up and cuts in front of everyone and instead of the sales associate asking her to wait her turn he waits on her and disregards everyone else in the service line. In addition, the service department decides to re-key the locks for a gentlemen (when you only have one person working the service desk), which is fine, except when you have several people in line you could tell the guy to leave the locks OR wait on those there with simple orders. Whatever you need -- if it has to do with hardware, grilling or lawn maintenance, this Ace Hardware has got it. Unbelievable selection of merchandise in a very friendly atmosphere. Extremely accessible and helpful employees are aplenty here, too. They know their stuff, too - what a delight! Stock here is neatly organized and aisles are clearly labeled. Easy to find products and prices are extremely competitive. There are also items (grilling spices in particular) that caught me by surprise when I saw them on the shelf. Parking is ample; access is also easy since this is located at the corner with a light on Bonita Beach Road (making for entrance and exit safer in heavy traffic). Pass up those big box hardware stores that require a golf cart to navigate and have employees that are harder to locate than hen's teeth. Go to Ace instead for everything you need - so much faster, easier and more efficient when you've got work to do. read more

Fishing selection was great and decent prices but the older guy with the glasses behind the fishing counter came off as a little rude. Asked him for help (wish I didn't) guy seemed like a know it all and told my friend and I to "shoo" after he was done "helping" us. UPDATE: The guy put the line on my friends rod wrong by causing a knot in it and wasted 25 yards of his line. Bad customer service makes me not want to ask for help in any other store. read more

I needed help drilling into stucco wall to install garage door keypad. I asked for help and an employee directed me to Andy. Andy knew exactly what I needed for the drill I had and literally found and handed me the items. I was able to install the keypad that day. The check out guy was very friendly too. Ace moved their key-making from the aisle to behind a service desk. That's a good move because previously, customers were leaning over the key stock, blocking the aisle, and generally getting in the staff's way while keys were being made. But the key-making guild seems to be short a couple of initiates. It seems as if only a few staffers like to make keys, know how to do it, or are possibly even allowed to get that close to moving machinery. Awkward. I asked one guy in the Ace red vest if he could help, or if I should wait for someone else to make two keys for me. He looked to his left where close by, another guy in a red vest was helping a customer. The second red vested guy said, "I'm doing THIS," and acted a bit put out that anyone should suggest he do keys next. So the first red vested guy said, "Well I can do it." And he did. Could there be some key making status, or maybe some harsh employee ranking thing going on there at Ace? But here's the weird part. As I thanked the Red Vest guy who did my keys and then turned and walked away, I could hear Red Vest guy number two say, "Now you get outta here." omg. I didnt want to turn around to see if this caustic remark was directed at me. Or worse, if they were fighting words that could lead to red vests being ripped and pulled over Ace heads. I've read 5 negative reviews about Sunshine Ace Hardware here on Yelp. They all revolve around being treated with disrespect. I can only assume the employees express the sentiment of the store owners. I too had the misfortune of shopping here today. When the men in red vests weren't busy congregating in deep discussion, they would scramble and quickly disperse when I tried to make eye contact with them for some assistance. I interrupted the short bald one while he was texting, and for that I could tell immediately, I was on his "list!" I asked my question anyway. He told me they didn't carry what I was looking for, and "I shouldn't be trying to fix things (myself)anyway." Thank you "cue-ball" for your wisdom! I went about finding the items in the store by myself and leaving them by the register since the line was too long. Order for $265 placed with Amazon before I left the parking lot. My questions and request for help apparently were intrusions on their day. Smile and at least fake being interested in helping me. The guy back where they make keys was gruff, curt, and downright rude....why don't you just quit so somebody who wants to be there can work. I don't get you guys at all....at one point you must have wanted a job working there....so what changed to make you so surly. Was greeted very nicely by someone who I believe is the manager. Now, I don't leave reviews very often but once I reached check out a nasty old woman attended me and my mother. We were charged $8.64 for the stuff we had purchased and my mom had accidentally given her 8 singles instead of the 9. My mom does not speak english but she understands english. It was an accident but this woman assumed it was because she did not speak english. On our way out she told us to have a nice day and to learn english while we're at it. I shop the larger home improvement stores for my general needs, however, ACE is my specialty hardware store. They make better duplicate keys that 'work', have odd sized furnace filters, specialty bulbs, etc. I also appreciate the outstanding staff/customer service, and the small home goods department. I'm not into fishing, but they do have a fantastic supply of anyone's fishing needs. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and can answer any of the questions I have and direct me to what I need to fulfill my needs. I'm very pleased this store is here in Bonita! read more

Can't say enough what a great job and how helpful the Ace team was yesterday. Went with a broken car key that had a electronic chip in it. They did no less than 15 attempts and trips to my car to "fine tune" the new key and got a replacement working. Alternative was hundreds of dollars with dealer. I am a year around resident and always had good experience-shopping in this store until today. I went in looking for a tap con which I know nothing about. There was an older man working in the area - don't know his name but it was Friday the 13 th at 2 in the afternoon. He was an absolute jerk. Had an attitude, getting him to respond was like pulling teeth and he had two or three wise remarks aimed at my lack of knowledge. Now Ace is a great place but they do charge a little more I think because of the personal service. Well this guy failed big time. Lots of places struggling because of indifferent employees and wise guys and I hope workers like this guy do not spoil the reputation of a great store. read more

This is a terrific hardware...always helpful and always courteous. The big problem I have with them is that they give a 10% military discount, but only on selected items. One cannot tell which items until they are actually scanned at the cashier! I have been a patron of Ace for many years as I feel the service is much better than the big box stores even though the prices may be a bit higher. However, today I found out that they will not issue refunds on anything purchased for Hurricane supplies....what a disgrace! I've had no trouble returning many of the supplies I over-purchased in a panic to be prepared from any other retailers in Bonita Springs. It is terrible to take advantage of people who have just suffered through a natural disaster by adding insult to injury. I understand not returning generators but batteries and flashlights unopened and with a receipt, can certainly can be resold. SHAME ON YOU SUNSHINE ACE HARDWARE! I will be reporting this to the local Chamber of Commerce, Pam Bondi, Attorney General, the BBB and will blast you on social media. They have an impresive nut/bolt/screw hardware selection. This type of hardware is my most frequent purchase here and most times I can find something that will work if I don't find exactly what I wanted. Bought a Weber Grill. The salesperson was very helpful and knew his product. The salesman instructed me I would receive a call the next day with a delivery date and time. Did not receive that call. Two days later I was in the store and at that time a delivery date had not been set up nor could anyone give me a date. Now, one week later and frustration building, I call the store and they tell me it will be delivered today. Had I not called the store, I probably would not have been home to accept the delivery.
