Perched up in the corner of a wrap around strip, this restaurant has big windows looking out over a corner of downtown Owen Sound. The speciality here is sandwiches, and the special that day was tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich, yumm, comfort food. I opted for a peameal, lettuce and tomato sandwich which came on thin sliced wonder bread. The bacon was on the thin side, a perfect amount for a sandwich, and had several layers of nice fresh tomato sliced thinly piled up about an inch high which gave me a nice juicy bite. The cook worked behind an open window and shouted out to me, 'Do you want mayo on that?', I said yes and went back to perusing the odd assortment of feel-good cute kitsch adorning the walls and nooks of the spacious dining room with a decidedly Christian bent to it. Then we noticed it was getting oddly quiet in the room and realized the Closed sign was on the door. It seems we were in there a bit late for lunch and they wanted a siesta possibly? There was nothing redeeming in the chicken Parmesan...it was so bland. And probably the worst caesar salad I have ever had...soggy crouton and store bought dressing...so bad. I usually get an omelette and lately have been really into the Hawaiian one. I never thought to put pineapple into an omelette but somehow it works well with the ham and mozzarella cheese. (I'm also a Hawaiian pizza girlie so that's likely why, and yes, pineapple belongs on pizza!) They also do a great club sandwich and some decent Greek food too. Bacon is always cooked perfectly here and the silver dollar homefries are amazing. Service is friendly, coffee is hot and constantly refilled and the food is quick and delicious. Washrooms are clean. There's also a little book station at the front where you can leave/take a book and they have lots of children's books too if they need some entertaining before the food arrives.
