My boyfriend, my friends and I came here yesterday for a late breakfast. It's within the Blue Mountain Resort. The waitresses were nice, as was the hostess. The waitress came back a good amount to see if we needed anything. My friend's order wasn't correct so the waitress quickly rectified it. I had ordered the pancake, fruit, and bacon under their light meals section but I ruined it by upgrading my one pancake to a Cinnabon pancake, which was sooooo good! (I would've gotten one cup of fruit, two pieces of bacon or sausage with one pancake, which you can upgrade to a Cinnabon pancake or a chocolate chip pancake. There were different sets of salt and pepper shakers on each table. Ours was a little cat and little dog. There was a ghost and black cat set on a table near us. The air conditioning wasn't working well. It did get a little too warm in there, shortly before we left there. There wasn't a lot of room to walk around the tables but the food more than made up for it. I'd definitely go back! read more

One of the few breakfast spots in Blue Mountain so you can always expect a crowd and long wait times! Honestly I don't find the service to be the greatest here, as some of the servers can be quite rude and you feel rushed even though it took so long for your food to come out. Sunset Grill has definitely fallen in terms of the quality of food they put out. I always find the eggs to be really undercooked and the home fries to also be undercooked. I wish there were better options to go to for breakfast while staying at Blue Mountain. 5/10 recommend! read more

Gord and I had breakfast last week at the Sunset Grill. If you want a hearty breakfast, it's the only place to go in Blue Mountain Village ... it's a popular spot. We got there about 10am and had a 20 minute wait for a table ... but it was worth it! I ordered bacon and eggs ... my usual ... and it was good and filling. I left about half the home fries. The tables and chairs could use a better cleaning in between guests. There are many birds and some droppings remnants remained on parts of the chairs. Similar to the other Sunset Grills, this place is only open for breakfast and lunch. This one has a big patio in the front but wasn't seating outside due to some construction and the cooler weather. This one boasts a huge salt and pepper shaker collection! Each table has their own unique set and many more line the counters and really any free space around the restaurant. Another fun uniques were the mugs that hot drinks came in. They were all different! We were around in fall so there were fall themed ones, some looked like Dia De Muertos skulls while others were shaped like pumpkins. The food was pretty diner type breakfast fare. Homestyle potatoes are softer rather than crisp, eggs have that firmer edge to them, your own seasoning required, etc. Not the best but also not the worst. read more

Just so-so. I felt like this place was out of place for the village and I'm a bit surprised there are no other breakfast resto options in such a tourist hot spot. The food is very "greasy spoon" which would not be a complete negative for a breakfast joint but the eggs over easy were runny and cold. The coffee was weak. There were flies buzzing around the room. The salt shaker at our table was empty which I shouldn't be surprised at since the food was so bland. Just a complete turn off for me. Wouldn't ever go back. Take my advice. We visited the Blue Mountain last week and stayed at the Westin resort next to the Village. Upon learning from hotel of the breakfast options we decided to try this place, even though the reviews were not stellar. We really enjoyed our visit, with generous portions and good classic American/Canadian breakfast. It was Halloween and the décor was cute. We compared with the breakfast menu offered at hotel and decided this is the better place, albeit the only option in the Village. For being a monopoly, we felt the value is great. We went the next day before heading home, enjoyed it still. I can see how in the summer with huge crowds the restaurant may be overwhelmed and skimped on its service and food quality but not for us this time. Guess you should go during off peak season? Amazing service with delicious food. The breakfast plates are a very nice start to the day and if you grab a coffee here, the Christmas mugs are super cute. Each person gets a unique design and they are fun and filled with character. I would come back just for the coffee. Not to mention that this is located right in the village so it is a very convenient location. The restaurant selection is like your average brunch please, nice hearty meal to stuff yourself before hitting the hills. The price is under 15 dollars for most items and they are certainly very filling. The restaurant decor has a warm, homey feel. I really like their mugs and salt&pepper shakers, really cute and unique. They get huge traffic everyday, so be sure to come early. Our meal was pretty good, not spetacular, but definitely deserves the price point. My bacon was burnt, but it was difficult to inform the server about it because the restaurant was so busy. We were seated by the hostess who wasn't very friendly. We were barely acknowledged. We sat and watched the scenery go by. Five minutes later, we watched a couple come around the corner walk up to the restaurant to get seated beside us, and they were greeted warmly and served before us. We got up, walked out, and the waitress followed us to the door and asked what's wrong. We just left. I don't know if it was racial profiling, but being a First Nations couple, we get it a lot and go to other restaurants that'll serve us. My nephew indulged himself with chocolate pancakes which were very nice, the chocolate chips were baked right in. What is not to love. Service. Friendly waitresses with plenty of suggestions. Again, it's what you expect at a casual breakfast place. The one area where this place has a bit more frills is in design. It has fun egg shaped door handles and bright colors throughout. We arrived on a Saturday at around 10:20 am. We had to wait for 15 minutes so we left for a walk around the village. The greeter was very nice and brought us to our seats after our return. We were seated and quickly had our order taken. We then waited. We drank our coffee for 45 minutes as we watched other tables that arrived after us served. We were hangry at this point and to make matters worse there was a large group of people beside us who were very annoying. We received our food and it was definitely what we were expecting. The potatoes were cooked, the eggs perfect and the pancakes fluffy. Our server was also trying his best, but I think they were overrun! It's a no-frills brunch place in the Blue Mountain Village. The food offering is pretty basic - eggs, bacon​, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, fruit, waffles and so on. It's not fancy by any means. There is a patio that has seatings for both small and large groups. If you come here for brunch, you won't be directly under the sun as the building provides shade. So come early and pick a spot outside. The servers are attentive​ but slow. I would probably choose another restaurant had there been other choices. It's not bad but it's not great either. If you're reading this you're likely no stranger to Sunset Grill. One of the bigger breakfast/brunch chains in the province, you've likely dined at one before, and if you haven't, there aren't really any surprises - it's breakfast! The location in The Village at Blue Mountain has a unique advantage as it's the ONLY place to grab breakfast, save for a sandwich at Starbucks. In saying that, you'd think this location would be larger than average but alas it falls in line with the standard and perhaps is even a little smaller. Given that the Village is more of a wintertime destination (aka cold), this is the only spot for breakfast around (scarcity) and it is small, there is almost always a line-up outside in the cold - so you'd think that maybe they would offer their potential customers somewhere warm to sit like a windproof tent OR event a few gas powered heat lamps - nope, you stand and wait outside for 30-60 minutes on average. I'm not really complaining about this, it is more of a "nice to have" given they're good fortune and monopoly on Blue Mountain breakfast. For the food...again, it's breakfast. Eggs and bacon and toast, pancakes/french toast, coffee, etc, all how you like it and to order. It's a little higher and on the pricey side given their advantage and the tourist factor but... beggars can't be choosers. And everything is good, fine, tasty, does the job. Foodwise, I would give it a green light. My eggs were cooked well, as was the bacon and sausage. My only problem was the pancakes which were overcooked. Unless the management decides to take the time to train their staff properly, I would rather drive into town for breakfast. The tables were filthy, the table closest to the server area was littered with bits of food, flatware that was never picked up off the floor, there was a spray bottle and rag on the chair of the table we were sat down at. The food was less than acceptable. Not sure how an egg breakfast sandwich can be messed up but it was. We came up from L.A. for a very quick holiday to visit family and the whole experience was very disappointing all around, especially since it's the only breakfast spot on the mountain. Came here for breakfast food with a good friend as we were at Blue Mountain for my super belated birthday celebration. :) Let's start with mentioning that we both have experience in serving and have been in customer service practically our whole careers. Now that you have a bit of a background, I'll continue this review: We walked in and immediately was able to sit down at a table. The hostess gave us our menus and went back to the door. We didn't even know our waitresses name. Our waitress stops by a few moments after we sat down and asked what we wanted for drinks. Once again, no name was mentioned. We both ordered coffee and a glass of water. Once our waitress came back with our drinks, we ordered our meals. My friend ordered the Sunset Sandwich and I ordered the Sunset Omelette. While waiting for our food, I had drank my entire glass of water as I was thirsty. I put my glass at the end of the table so our waitress could see it and refill it. Please note, my glass of water was never refilled. Our food came, it looked great and the plates were nice and warm! During our meal, our waitress came and checked on us once. We continued until my friend found a hair in her food. Our waitress came by and my friend told her that she found a hair in her food. She said "I'm sorry" and left with the plate. We did not hear from her again until we asked for our bills. At this time, we found out her name was Hailey. *Side note: my friend has been here before. In her previous experience, she also found a hair in her food. The waitress apologized more than once and took her whole meal off her bill and also asked if the restaurant could make her something else. When my friend said it was okay, the waitress took it upon herself to get her the same meal and pack it in a container for her to take with her.* My friend looked at her bill and saw that her coffee was taken off but her bill still had her sandwich on there. We waited for our waitress to come back to ask if there was anything she could do about the food having a hair in it. But she wasn't around. Since there were people waiting for our table. We got up and went to the cash register. My friend asked the young lady at the cash about her situation. Our waitress, who was standing there, came into the conversation and basically said there was nothing she can do. When asked to speak to someone about this further, she said that there was no manager around. The only thing she could do was take off her coffee from her bill. My friend advised her of her previous experience. Our waitress replied back "what's her name? Because we don't do that. There is nothing I can do except take your coffee off your bill or take 50% off." When probed with additional questions about my friends situation, our waitress said "well its a restaurant, what do you expect?" My friend took the 50% off. We paid for our bills and left.
