We had a toilet and water valve to the toilet that were both leaking. Sunshine plumbing did an amazing job given they ran into problems with the job. The time they needed to fix the whole problem was more than initially thought because there were parts that needed to be replaced that weren't visible until the toilet came off the floor; but they were more focused on doing the right thing for me, a customer, than nickel and diming me - it cost significantly less than I really thought it should. We hired them to do a cleanout and scope of the pipes at a house we were buying to make sure the pipes were ok and no issues before we purchased the house. They said they didn't find anything and it was ok. Two weeks after moving in the house we woke up to sewer spewing out under the house and over 6 feet long cracks on multiple pipes. We called them hoping they would at least come help and was told they couldn't come for two weeks despite this being an emergency and their lack of finding these cracks when we hired them. We asked for some remedy or refund since they missed these issues big time and got no response from them after numerous attempts via phone and emails to The owner. Mistakes are made I understand but I would have expected them to cover us and not leave us hanging. They took no responsibility and not a company I would do business with ever again. read more

There are many facets to Sunshine Plumbing & Heating, which are not all on the same team. The salesperson will promise you the world, telling you about how they will fix/install your heater with quick efficiency. The receptionist will tell you they are booked, and call somebody else. The actual Boiler Tech will start the work, then disappear half-way through. This is a broken system. The ONE guy who was their boiler guy, came out to remove my 22-year-old boiler, and install a Tankless boiler seemed like he knew what he was doing at the beginning. After only two days of work, he disappeared from Sunshine's ranks, supposedly not returning phone calls, emails, text messages. What happened? Who knows? Sunshine apparently doesn't even know. Later, I found out this Boiler guy has done this disappearing-act before. So, Sunshine sent out a plumber to continue the Boiler work. The plumber stated to me "he doesn't know how the water gets into the Boiler, and he is a plumber". Great, just great. The Boiler guy performs a reappearing-act, about a week after he left, and decides to continue the work at my house. Unfortunately for me, we spent the winter with no heat because the wiring for the radiant floor valves was not properly setup/connected to the boiler. There was more work that was needed to actually get the floor valves to turn on. Apparently, the Boiler Tech did not know this, or care to complete the work. In fact, the boiler did not even have a purge valve, so water could not be drained from the system. The radiant floor lines were never purged of air or old water. I called Sunshine Plumbing about this problem, and was told they currently have not Boiler techs, and was told to call somebody else. Unreal. So, the floors throughout my house were cold over the winter because Sunshine Plumbing and Heating does not know how to properly install a Tankless Boiler. I had to call another company to come fix the disaster that Sunshine Plumbing had left behind. My recommendation, if you have Boiler work, DO NOT use Sunshine Plumbing and Heating. They are terrible at returning phone calls, performing Boiler work, and just being honest about what needs to be done and is being done. read more

What a great group of people! Our realtor recommended them for an estimate to repair our heat pump. Every single person I talked to was cheerful, helpful, and knowledgeable. They came back to service both heat pumps and Allan and Michael were fun to work with and did a great job. Very professional and friendly. At This Point, They've Basically Stolen My Money I called up Sunshine Plumbing to do a sewer inspection on a property I was interested in, after the general home inspection found there were potential blockages. Sunshine came out fast enough and did some kind of sewer inspection, but that's when all sense of responsibility and service ended. After the inspection was done, I had to call them multiple times to try and get the inspection report and their cost estimate for fixing the issues they uncovered. This was all under a tight timeline that Sunshine knew about, and because of their delays, I missed several important deadlines in the deal. Eventually, Sunshine sent me a "report" that was basically a hand written report by the lady at the front desk, not the actual inspector. This report was bare bones, didn't have any kind of cost estimation, or explanation of issues that they found. It basically just told me that there was a blockage. Sunshine's report was less informative than the general inspection report I got on the sewer line. I spoke to about 6 people, including a manager there, asking for a more informative report and cost estimations. Nothing EVER materialized. So eventually, we had to go with another plumbing company to get what we needed, but two weeks had already gone by. I called Sunshine on in late Dec. to ask for a refund. They were totally accommodating on the phone and said they understood and even apologized. Over a month later, I still have gotten no refund. I've called four times about it now, and I keep getting the same excuse that "So and so needs to approve it and they are out." Or, "Our finance team will be releasing those refunds at the end of this week." All BS. I feel like at this point they've just stolen my money and I won't ever see it again. Avoid using this place at all costs. They will over promise, under deliver, and keep any payments you made to them. If I could give them negative stars, I would. read more

Since my last review, I have talked with other plumbers, who have confirmed that City Code requirement of a convenience plug and a light has been in effect for years. So it was hardly a matter of being caught by changes in the code that Josh indicated. I have also reviewed the estimate and found the line "ALL WORK PERFORMED WILL WILL MEET ORE EXCEED CURRENT CITY CODE REQUIREMENTS" (Caps are theirs) I foolishly took this to mean that my furnace would meet city codes. I guess it really means that the work they bother to do will meet code requirements; that there may be further charges to bring the furnace up to code is not noted. It should have been. As I said in the previous review, my son recommended them highly. He has been appraised that the service they received is not available to everyone. They spent five times more money. I had an intermittent problem with my Carrier A/C (code 179--failure to communicate with outdoor unit). Two reputable plumbing companies tried to find the problem, but were able to do so. One told me I probably need to pound a 7-foot grounding rod; the other company wanted to run wire through my attic for $300. When Sunshine came out they did neither of these [Thank Goodness!]. Sunshine switched the ends of two of the wires that were already existing in the 8-wire cable that ran through my attic and replaced the outdoor circuit board. Representative Josh Todd was professional, respectful, and extremely knowledgeable. Upon thorough inspection of my home, he made his recommendation and submitted a quote. I had the quote reviewed by a third party expert, and was informed that the recommendation was excellent and the price quoted was very reasonable. Josh brought Evan, his lead technician by so I could meet him. Both Evan and Nick were very particular and conscientious throughout the entire the installation process. The service was prompt but seemed way over priced. We got what we thought was a worse case scenario quote. Simple main line repair, we had the hole already 1/3 partially dug and the water turned off. They sent 3 people, 1 to dig, 1 to supervise, and 1 to parts run. 3 hours later the repair was done and landscaping was mostly cleaned up. This was on a weekday mid day. and sent us a bill for $2000. Invoice had 0 details about labor or parts, just said leak repair. read more

Sunshine hooked up our plumbing for a shower remodel. They hooked up the hot and cold together somehow and it burnt out a part in our water heater fortunately before the cement board and tile went up. They did come out and correct the plumbing but did not pay for the labor and replacement part that we had another company fix. read more

My mother-in-law lives in ABQ. is retired, and we help with her finances, home issues etc (we live in California). Her water heater needed repairs and was out-of-code. She called a repair company whose estimate was extremely overpriced . When something is that overpriced, I immediately become suspicious about the quality of work as well. Trust is important to me. I visited Yelp and contacted Matt J, one of the managers, at Sunshine. He was a complete gentleman and dealt with me in a direct, honest manner. The water heater was replaced the same day at substantial savings compared to the estimate from the other company and most importantly I felt that Matt and his team were going to do the repair in an honest, professional and safe manner. A new sewer line through my nicely landscaped front yard was a terrifying thought. I got several quotes, most of them stating that they will not be responsible for landscaping. Shane with Sunshine Plumbing came in with the best bid on the job. He hadn't asked what others are quoting and his calm and professional approach made me trust him. They worked so efficiently with the backhoe, after moving the decorative rocks to the side and covering the rest generously with tarps. How surprised I was, when I saw the job done. Tree and grasses back in place, stepping stones where they belonged. They even rolled out new weed blocking fabric before putting the gravel stones back in place. We have used Sunshine in the past for remolding updates and an AC conversion, their quotes are always very competitive. It's their work that stands above all the others. Josh was the most knowledgable supervisor that has ever given us an estimate. He informed us of everything that needed to be done and exactly what to expect. They always arrive on time and they called before their arival to confirm their visit, Highly Professional!!! More recently they sent Damien over to install a Whole House Water Filtration System from scratch, complete with bi-pass valves. Damien had previously done an excellent job converting our cooktop from electric to gas so I was familiar with his work, but this time he outdid himself and the filtration system turned out great. Neat and clean work necessary to create a complex system that blends seamlessly in the corner of the garage, I'm very pleased. I have a friend let's call him J He came here and moved his family Here with nowhere to live but to work for &@%#^* at Sunshine Plumbing because they needed a licensed plumber ASAP. So He came to Albuquerque immediately and got himself a hotel room close to work. After his first day at work He went back to his motel room in his new GMC Yukon that was filled with every tool He owns, about $20,000 worth, and woke up the next morning to find out it had been stolen. When He told this man all he had to say was "Well you're gonna have to get your own tools if you wanna work here". He thought that to be a lil heartless and insensitive but He just blew it off and started doing all He could to get more tools. Over a period of about a month He went to yard sales, flea markets, asked friends and family and worked night jobs and did everything possible to get the tools He needed. Never once did &@#%^* or any of the staff at Sunshine offer to help with so much as even a screw driver, just lectured on why He needed the proper tools. But He didn't let that get him down or discouraged He just kept on doing what He had to do. He still managed to always stay in the top to second to top revenue earner for &@#%^*. His 9 year old son and his wife who is not only 7.5 months PREGNANT but also on BED REST. Moved here to stay in a motel room while they looked for a place to live on any time He had off all the while still using the gist of his checks for "the proper tools" and saving for a place to rent. &@#%^* father owns trailer parks but when He asked Joseph for a lil help with just a word to his father about helping him get into a place he just blew him off. So for the next month and a half He just stuck to constantly working and learning his way around Albuquerqe and taking care of his son and helping him get settled into a new school all the while his wife being in bed rest they managed to find a place which they were to move into on December the 4th. Which is 6 days before his wife's C-section is scheduled for, he was saying " I'm gonna have a house to bring our new baby home to". And they did it. He is so proud of his lil family and how strong his wife has been and his lil boy has just been so great and helping so much never complaining. They're so great I'm so proud of them as well. Well during all of this he had to call in 3 times 2 times because his wife's blood pressure was so bad the hospital wouldn't let her leave and another was a scare cuz she started goin to labor cuz the baby wasn't getting enough oxygen with her blood pressure being so high but she managed to pull through being the trooper she is. The third was a funeral He attended for his grandmother on December the 3rd out of town. December 4 th He was called into the office early by his immediate supervisor #%*+ to hear him say %#^*+= wants him gone... On the day they are suppose to be moving into their new home, 6 days before their new baby is scheduled to be born and 21 days before Christmas. He asked why I mean He worked his butt off for this man and he's firing him now, right now?!?! How could this be?!?! When He asked why , He was told "because of excessive absences...." He missed 3 days with 3 very good reasons to be absent (his wife being hospitalized on two separate occasions and his grandmother passing away). Now He sits here trying to make sense of it all but can't. When He asked to talk to &@%#^* he won't and when He went to get his "last check" it is $600 DOLLARS SHORT!!!! So this is where they are left homeless without even the pay He EARNED to helps them. After all He did for this man and his company this is how He is repaid and then come to find out he does this to his employees all the time. I was told over 60 turn overs in a period of 5 years. How does this man live with himself I ask. Well it's because he always has someone to come in and work hard only to get treated this way. They sacrificed so much for this company and while This man sits in his big house my friend and his family that struggled and worked so hard are now homeless with a new baby on the way any day now and Christmas a few days away without even the money He earned! This man claims to be a man of God and gives to these charities but it's all a front and the more people that use Sunshine Plumbing are just feeding his heartless insensitive greed. Please next time you go to call a plumber or a HVAC tech please think of what this man has done to my friends family. I'm not asking for anything other than this man to be in their shoes for only a day with his hand me down company that he never had to work for. Oh and one more thing SUNSHINE PLUMBING NOW DOESNT HAVE A LICENSED PLUMBER ANYWHERE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. That's illegal. Thank you for reading my story. I was employed as a sheet metal foreman for this company for 2 years. I left the company on good terms with Joseph and Melinda. I enjoyed my time with this company. They are willing to give you a shot if you want to work. All of the jobs i ran for them came out great and passed every inspection. Also, it is unfair to say Joseph the owner is "selfish" or "greedy", i personally saw him help guys out with cash and vehicles during hard times. They are not going to buy you new tools or baby sit you! You are a grown person and responsible for your own tools. It is unfair to expect them to provide you with personal tools. I had Sunshine Plumbing install a new heating/AC system as well as water heater. I have used this company for several years and was happy with their service. Their success has lead to poor service. The systems that were installed required city inspection. Sunshine plumbing scheduled multiple appointments incorrectly leaving me sitting waiting for inspectors for at least two days. The city inspection was never completed because I grew tired of botched appointments On one occasion they sent the wrong type of plumber and so another day was lost. They also failed to complete the contract by cleaning the vents. I pointed this out to the sales person but the task was never completed. I will not be using Sunshine plumbing for any of my future needs. read more
