I haven't been here in over 20 years but stopped in to get a last minute mother's day gift for my stepmom. The owner went above and beyond, giftwrapping my purchase and even taking the time to to show us that the handbag we selected had a very unique hidden pocket, she also thanked me for coming back after all these years. This lovely shop is a staple in the area - pretty much the only one like it in Middletown. Especially considering how rapidly the area has filled in with chain stores and restaurants, a locally owned shop like this is always a breath of fresh air. I've been going here since high school :) The selection varies over time but there's always a LOT to browse and you can easily look around for a while and still backtrack and find things you missed the first time. Prices are a little high but you also have to consider this is a gift shop that sells many hand made goods - this isn't your place to find mass produced junk. I love coming here to get incense. I've also purchased several jewelry items over the years here, some hand made and some not. I have been coming to this store for years. Today's experience deserves a review. I went to buy a dress for a wedding I'm attending and had my 3 year old and 16 month old. I was so nervous because I didn't want them to break anything and thought it would be impossible to check anything out chasing them around. :) The owner and staff helped me so much, entertained my kiddos, helped me put a beautiful outfit together, etc. I felt taken care of and when leaving my 3 year old asked when we could back. I found this universe about about 20 years ago...the best incense, clothing, handmade tyedye, beautiful caps in the chilly season, actual light weight cotton flowing yoga pants ideal for those hot summer days when you want to feel beautiful. Cool stuff-oils, tie dye, tapestries, crystals, clothing- mostly made by artisans in the area. I feel that the product is extremely over priced. By the product, I mean everything in the store. I understand you have to make a living, but isn't this supposed to be a hippie place? Everyone just gives off this snob vibe. Ive been going here for years. The staff ha taken a dramatic downward twist. Try use to be so knowledgable and now it seems that I know more than the staff does! You can also tell that the store has a lot of products that are still trying to be sold from years ago. The music is normally decent, and then you hear weird pop that's too modern for the style. It jut doesn't make sense. Aside from all that I've said, I have been going there for years. I pay the prices I pay because there isn't anywhere in the area with nicer stone jewelry. The product is unique, and does have the amazing insence scent. The owner seems okay when you actually see her, too. Back in 2008 they had a nice cafe in front which I miss . They had open mike night, coffee, desserts,teas and gifts. I guess through the economy changing they had closed that part. In the back in the little hippie hut I call it, they have gifts hats dishes incense all those things a reiki practitioner would need, belly dance outfits even! clothes blankets eclectic things. So i love coming to here when I truck on in to middletown. I get the incense oils candles scarves there. They have nice gifts, leather carved books for writing in and every one gets a gift at holiday time from me from there. The owner is nice and tries to get things in upon request.The staff is nice. A nice place to chill out and go to look and buy. Nice lotions as well. In summer they hang out the tapestries on the line out side which is very artistic and this is how i came in. I was curious. They sell clothing and beautiful jewlery. I see kids in there buying things. The owner listens to what a customer might like and orders it. Literally heaven on earth. You walk into the shop and feel pure happiness. There are so many oils and incense to choose from. She has a huge selection of beautiful crystals- from figurines to bracelets, and single stones. The clothes are so adorable too! She also has a huge variety of decorative stuff!
