We went to this restaurant yesterday and it was fairly busy, but fully staffed with lots of servers and a manager visibly present. For some unexplained reason we received not only the most annoyingly slow service but absolutely inattentive. We were served 2 of 4 dishes wrong and needed condiments & drinks but our server and several others were too busy chatting it up with each other. Unimpressed! read more

If you're a vegan be careful the plant base options aren't totally vegan. My server was vegetarian and was nice enough and able point out what was truly vegan. I had the vegan tacos which are completely vegan. The cheese ruins them...it's sweet but the meats tastes good but was extremely hard. The flour tortillas were hard and werent warmed. The herb sauce says it's vegan but the waiter stated the ranch is and I ate that with fries. The Brussel sprouts have good flavor but are not crispy they are soft. The ambience is cute but I wouldn't recommend for vegans. The menu is confusing and takes time to ask questions about what is actually vegan vs "plant based". Also my cup was dirty. read more

Sunspot is one of the best restaurants around campus! I dined here for brunch yesterday and was absolutely blown away. We started with a couple of their $2 mimosas and they were wonderful. Everything on the menu looked great, but I decided on the chicken and waffles and it was fantastic. I'd say it was the best chicken in waffles I've ever had! The chicken and potatoes were perfectly crispy and the waffles and syrup had the perfect amount of sweetness. My friend ordered The Americano breakfast and really enjoyed hers as well. The staff was very friendly and did a great job about maintaining social distancing, sanitizing, and wearing masks. I will definitely return soon! read more

Parker is the worst server. He was rude and told me I look 16. I am an ADULT. HE was insulting the entire meal. I am beyond disappointed. I will NEVER go back. Today was our first experience at Sunspot. It certainly won't be our last!! Don't get me wrong, the food - especially their roasted Brussels sprouts - was delicious!! However, the customer service was top notch!! Our waiter, Dom, was at our table quickly, had great menu suggestions and was very personable! Even with the restaurant pretty busy, he stopped by a few times to check on us. We stopped Jake, the manager, to tell him what a great job Dom was doing. He was appreciative to hear it but you could tell he wasn't surprised. :) He shared some history of the restaurant with us and really made us feel welcome. Tried this restaurant after 2 different people recommended it. It was within walking distance from the Graduate Hotel. We were seated right away. Our waiter seemed a little distracted and didn't really smile the whole time we were there. He was attentive enough so I just chalked it up to possibly him having a bad night? It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night possibly due to it being trivia night. It seemed like a lot of locals were there. My daughter ordered the Salmon which came with green beans and potatoes. I ordered the roasted carnitas sandwich with waffle sweet potato fries. The salmon was seared perfectly! It wasn't dry. The green beans were fresh and seasoned with garlic. The roasted carnitas were great, not dry at all. The sweet potato waffle fries were crispy, not soggy. I ordered the lavender moscow mule and the grapefruit juice with prosecco drinks. Both drinks were good but nothing nothing extraordinary. Trivia night was fun! This was our first time playing trivia in this type of setting. I've been a big fan of Sunspot since my college days. I used to live for wine night Wednesday (1/2 price bottles)! Sunapot has been an experience that's always consistently fantastic. It's one of those places where I'd recommend everything on the menu. Their cocktails are perfectly crafted, and their beer always tastes fresh and crisp. Most recently I was there for Monday's burger night ($10 for a burger and any draft beer - it's such a great deal). Service was awesome and food was great. Finally - and it's a small thing but makes such an impression - everyone wished us a goodnight as we walked out. Great staff! read more

Dinner with a larger party in August 2021--excellent hostess reception and decision-making and a quick to-our-table experience. Half our party had great cocktails and beer service, but the other half did not. Half the party had great food (tacos and salads and burgers) and half did not (salmon). I'm in the "good" half so I'll err on the side of three stars, not two. Our waitress was doing the best she could, I suspect she was dealing with too many demands too soon. We stumbled upon the Sunspot and were very happy we did. We had our dog with us and they are welcomed on the outdoor patio. It was very hot even in the shade, but they brought a dog bowl with ice water for our pup. My daughter ordered shrimp and grits, but changed her mind when she saw chicken fingers at another table. I have never eaten here and not been blown away- the food is incredible, the servers are personal, and the daily deals are awesome. The beer list is extensive and super poetic- you'll get a kick out of the descriptions at the very least. I recommend the veggie burger, but my girlfriend says the local burger was also excellent. Fun Spot! We were in a booth, in the bar. We asked to change the tv from baseball to the Kentucky Derby. It was done in a flash! Our sever, Clint, was personable and helpful. We asked for Mint Juleps, he asked the bartender if it could be done. Sure!! We ordered the Orange Blossom Special for an app.It was so great we ordered another. Sensational. Then came entrees: amazing chicken and mushroom pasta, even more amazing Poke bowl, and a memorable BLT sandwich made with Fried Green Tomatoes and goat cheese with added avocado. Wow! Dessert?
