If you're craving something fresher that won't leave you feely super heavy, Redbud is a great place to go! I got a super large salad that left me full by the end of it that came with a small crostini (not much bread, but it got the job done). It's definitely not a discount spot, but it was a good mid priced quicker dinner! The ambiance was a little funky-- it was basically empty, but that also is likely because we ate an earlier dinner. I love a good brunch or breakfast so I was excited to try this spot on a weekend (though the lunch and dinner menu look amazing). I went at about 3 o'clock and it wasn't crowded so I was seated quickly. My server was so genuinely friendly and cheerful, it really added to the experience. She answered the few questions I had and was able to explain the menu items in a knowledgeable way. I decided on the Wake Up Burrito. It was a larger than expected item, which was a nice surprise. Everything tasted fresh and there was a great mix of flavors. Despite it being close to closing time, I was still asked if I wanted dessert or coffee. Although I did not today, it's something I appreciate being asked at a restaurant. The quality of food, the cute decor, and friendly service ensure I'll be back soon to explore more of the menu! Great place to meet up with daughter-in-law and granddaughters. Hipster vibe, great menu selections. We had tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwich, Mac & cheese for the little ones, Tennessee BLT and the turkey sandwich special. All delish. Love those homemade potato chips. I wish fruit would be offered without an up charge. A dollop of tomato jam would have been the Pièce de Résistance. Service was superb and thoughtful. This is one of our go tos! read more

We went at about 5pm on a Saturday and there were only a couple other people in the restaurant. Even with that being considered it was almost impossible to find parking nearby which was a bit of a bummer. The server was kind, friendly and efficient. We ordered two pressed sandwiches. The Hillbilly Heap and the Meatloaf sandwich. I subbed steak fries got my chips. My husband enjoyed his Hillbilly sandwich but said the chips definitely needed some kind of seasoning. The menu said they were "fresh deep fried chips" but they were cold. I'm not sure if they were supposed to be fried to order by that wording, but they weren't. I had the meatloaf sandwich and it was decent. I wasn't a huge fan of the texture in this particular meatloaf, but the flavor was fine. The steak fries were cooked perfectly (extra crispy, which is hard for steak fries). The food came out in about 5 minutes from ordering (which tells me everything is pre-prepped and just heated up). Prices were decent. 2 meals including an up-charge for the fries plus 1 soda were 33 bucks. Pretty decent! read more

I came to try something I'd seen in a Yelp Menu Picture: the Happy Hummus Bowl. Apparently their menu is seasonal and our server said she "hoped" it would be back for Spring/Summer. The menu does what I wish all menus for all restaurants did: it includes information such as GF if the item is automatically gluten free, GF-O if the item can be made as Gluten Free as an Option, V if the item is Vegetarian, V-O if the item is Vegetarian as an option. There is no marker on the menu for any Vegan options, so we had to ask the server a lot of questions, but we're able to make modifications to things to get a couple dishes. One dish we veganized was the Veg Head Bowl. We also made something (which I cannot remember) both Vegan and Gluten Free. However, when the dishes came out, they were laughingly, the same items, just rearranged on their respective plates a little differently and maybe had a different sauce. We also ordered the Tots separately, which wasn't listed as an option to order that way on the menu. I'm not sure why hummus is a seasonal item, I hope they'll consider leaving it on the menu year round so us veggie lovers can have more than one true option that is also gluten free. I'll be stalking their online menu to see when the hummus comes back so we can try it. We went on a Tuesday around 11:30am and virtually had the place to ourselves, which was nice. So after eating here a handful of times and trying multiple menu items, I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of the food. The sandwiches are decent and worth ordering if your looking for a low key sandwich kind of lunch, or hungry while drinking next door at high wire. The load tots and potato wedges.... also pretty tasty. However their entrees I am not a huge fan of. The meatloaf dish was overly salty (the meatloaf and the sides) and dry despite all the sauces. Shrimp and grits was pretty loose and runny. Not overly salty, but just kind of boring and lacking any sort of depth.... Ambiance of the restaurant is nice, and the ability to order food and walk over from the brewery is nice. This gives some points. read more

So id been eyeing the menu for a few days before trying it out this afternoon. I'm a huge fan of anything avocado so I opted for the turkey avocado sandwich, and I substituted tots instead of the chips. The sandwich unfortunately was very underwhelming. When I think of an avocado sandwich, I want to be able to see and taste the avocado. It was so minimal on the sandwich that I could hardly see it alone taste it. Overall, it was pretty dry and bland. The tots and house made ketchup tho!!!!! 10/10!!! I was blown away by the flavor and the crunch while still being nice and soft in the middle. I tried one of my friends steak fries, and it was equally as amazing! overall, this is a place I would definitely visit again and try something different! Also 10/10 for service. Friendly staff, fresh food, and an excellent happy hour! I dined here on a Wednesday evening and had a very pleasant experience. The happy hour here is great- $5 dollar cocktails and glasses of wine and draft beer for $2 dollars off! The menu is wonderful as well and there is something for everyone. Great stop for a sandwich, plenty of options on the menu. Everything we tried was very good. There is an outdoor patio on the rooftop as well as up front as you arrive. Parking is limited. We tried the Chicken Avacado Sandwich, The Cuban, and The Redneck Inferno. The Redneck Inferno was our favorite, the palmetto cheese and spice together was an unexpected combination that turned out really good. Only complaint was there was a lot of flies outside at the end of our meal. Overall good spot for lunch as the service was good too. read more

Came here for a quick bite after Hi Wire Brewing and it surpassed my expectations. The hostess seated us quickly and orders were taken within minutes. The ambiance is artsy and fun, with cool tunes playing. The food is where it's at though... I had the Smoky Mtn Meatloaf and it was divine. The potatoes were nice and cheesy and perfectly crusted over. The meatloaf was savory and well seasoned. I didn't even need to lather in ketchup. I will most definitely return in the near future to try out more on their menu! read more

So great to have new life in south Knoxville. Went on a Friday night, I would have thought they would have been busier. The SoKno sunset was great especially at only$5. The food was good. The table had both of the flat breads, the Hillybilly heap and the Nutty goat salad. The salad was huge. I added the shrimp to the salad though not sure it added to the salad. The atmosphere was very friendly (dog friendly too). The service was not great but by far was not bad. read more

We did take-out so I don't feel justified giving 5 stars, not having experienced the entire gamut of the place. But we sure loved the food. Wife had chili salmon and I had the 'tater-tot nacho' dish with chicken added. Both were very tasty. On-line ordering was great-- simple, with lots of options available for each dish. I've given this place 4 shots to earn my business since it's in my neighborhood...what a disappointment. Strike 1: they conducted a "contest" for their branding rather than hiring one of the many gifted designers in south Knox. Strike 2: 2 separate evenings, during slow hours I walked in from drinking at a local brewery looking to order dinner. The first time was a clunky ordering process at the hostess station after a lengthy wait for service, only to find my meal barely warm and served in styrofoam. Strike 3: The second event had me waiting around 10min for 3 employees to tell me someone would be with me soon, only to find out that I had to order takeaway at the bar and there was no signage or indication for this. The kitchen was out of a number items pertinent to the few gluten sensitive options on their menu. If you come into this neighborhood, know your audience. Offer healthier gluten free modifications for your menu items and make great customer service a priority...signage would help tremendously! Also, show that your business is sustainably minded...ditch the styrofoam. read more

My daughter and I decided to go here for dinner last night, our first time there. After looking it up on yelp we decided a 4.5 rating was really good and wanted to give it a try. It was very disappointing. I ordered the chicken avocado sandwich and mac n cheese. The bread was pretty good, but hardly any avocado at all and the mac n cheese was literally ice cold. My daughter ordered the black bean burger and chips. The burger was ice cold as well and the chips were so stale, we couldn't even bite into some of them. They were like cardboard. The waitress was awesome, and we felt so bad having to complain and send food back, but she was very sweet about it. When the blackbean burger came back, my daughter said it was warm and pretty good, but my mac n cheese had not been warmed up and was still ice cold. I guess they didn't even have time to throw it in the microwave. Very weird. I don't get it. There must be zero quality control in the kitchen and where is the kitchen manager..letting food like that go out to customers. It was embarrassing. The server did give us 25% off the bill which I thought was nice but I doubt we will ever go back. Pretty sad because we love the SoKno area :( read more

I was in Knoxville for the Big Ears Music Festival. I was looking for a place to meet a friend for lunch that was relatively close to downtown Knoxville. Redbud Kitchen popped up on Yelp and I'm glad it did. The restaurant is located in a semi-industrial district not far from the iconic JFG Coffee sign that is Knoxville's version of the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. The menu is easy to navigate and offered a nice variety of comfort foods with a contemporary twist. Seating was plentiful. Open dining area with great light. Casual. My friend and I sat in a high back booth that was comfortable and made conversation easy. read more

We have come here several times and it's a favorite of ours. We came here after the Seiver Farmer Market and apparently caught them right as they were closing. They didn't say a word and provided great service and food. Once we realize we had pushed their hours, we apologized. But, still got great service and didn't feel rushed. This place is right below Hi Wire brewery. So you have the best of both worlds. Their Shrimp and Grits are AMAZING. My husbands favorite is Notorious PIG. But today we had the biscuits and gravy and a breakfast burrito. Amazing! Their healthy bowls are bomb as well! read more
