When problems came up during the install (unforeseen PG&E requirements, etc), Richard just took care of it.

We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We met with multiple solar companies and settled on Highlight due to both the great recommendations…read moreas well as our experience during the initial process. We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

Btw I was going to bump this review to a 4 but working with Nick we decided on 5.** We had a complicated full house renovation this year and signed with Clean Solar for either the Tesla tiles or solar panels and we ended up choosing solar panels + Tesla power walls. I want to give special thanks (and the only reason why I didn't give a 0 star) and appreciation to the members listed as they deserved beyond 5 stars Bill, Nick, Jeremy, Rodger, Louis, Kevin, Albert, Alberto, Carl (CEO). Bill was amazing and helpful in explaining the process and helping us secure the initial funding. You are probably wondering why I am giving this solar company a 3 star. Well it takes 1 bad apple to ruin a team and this is the case. A three day project ended up taking 3+ weeks & we understand that the workload is extremely busy this time of year. However when 1 person is acting unprofessional, crossing the line, asking homeowners to borrow a usb cable to charge their cell phone, super loud, tries to impress (why), doesn't listen to clients (would walk away in mid conversation), act as if he is the owner of the company, talks way too much (not in a good way), talking about his side hustle business, a bit juvenile, not completing and complaining about the job in front of clients plus not showing up when he said he would to complete the job, leaving tools at the site and asking the homeowners to put it in their garage until he returns to pick it up, calls in sick last minute leaving the load to other team members plus more well then this becomes a problem and 0 stars (if possible) especially the amount of money you invest into this project. We also requested that this person not show up again but they kept sending him back. At the end of the project half of the Tesla walls were connected and working but the other half wasn't connecting. At one point our bedrooms electricity didn't work, it wasn't the breakers and Nick was awesome enough to take our after hours call and help us manually override those other 2 disconnected wall panels. The dream team (Nick, Kevin and Albert) resolved the connection and all is working now. Also, Nick stayed late to make sure our Tesla walls were configured and updated properly. Plus , a shout out to Jeremy for staying late as well to help fix a broken issue. Feedback: Organize a team that works well together to effectively complete the project. Provide sexual harassment training (this is excluding people listed here). If a female client doesn't feel comfortable with a person don't resend them back. Also if a homeowner (regardless of being the wife) calls and leaves a message please out of courtesy call back after all I am the client, work and pay the bills too (even though this is my husband's project).

I am a little overdue for writing this review. I got solar installed last year by Freedom and the…read moreprocess was pretty painless and I have had no problems with the hardware they installed. After talking to one installer I decided that it was required for whoever I gave my project to that I wanted them to be NABCEP certified (so that you can be sure they know what they are doing). Freedom passed this check. The other thing that put Freedom in the upper tier of consideration is that they were recommended by the guys who installed my roof (and did an awesome job). I felt confident that my roof would not be leaking after the install. The hardest part for me was deciding how many panels to install. 8 would cover my current needs, and 16 would likely cover me if I replaced by water heater and central heater with heat pumps, but it is unclear exactly when these systems might fail. So I split the difference at 12 and am still comfortable that that is the right choice for me (it is going to be at least 5 years before I replace one of them). Due to the NetMetering 2.0 deadline last year I was only able to get two quotes for a 12 panel solution. Freedom Solar was significantly below the other quote and they passed my other requirements so I pulled the trigger and signed a contract with them. Due to the backlog of installs of people trying to beat the aforementioned deadline they set my expectations realistically. But due to things out of their control they were able to move me up the queue by several months. Cool. The install went as planned (there was one problem but that one was on me). This was completed in 2 days, and turned on shortly later by PG&E. 15 months later the system is still working with no problem, and no leaks in my roof. And it sure is nice paying $0 to PG&E for electricity every month... My overall impressions: Responsive company, low-pressure sales, very good communications, and they do quality work. I would definitely recommend them.

The sales rep, Kris R, keeps asking me for my TECO bill even though this is only needed for 100% solar conversion. I tried to explain to him I want battery but my wants were ignored. FYI, I got a quote for Tesla Powerwall and the 8 panels to power it, from another company within 15 minutes. Very poor experience from my end with the sales rep, Kris R focusing on sales commission rather than customer needs. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE SALES PITCH. 100% solar conversion needs your TECO bill, not a standby battery backup. If you do not believe me, just go to tesla's website and they can give you a quote online immediately. $16,100 for the Tesla Powerwall 3.

My experience getting solar and batteries installed by Sandbar Solar was great. I reached out to…read moreAndreas from Sandbar in late August of 2025 after being recommended by a friend. Andreas met with me that week and we discussed our goals, system design and size, and how it would impact our current energy bills. Given the tax credits ending at the end of the calendar year, I knew I most likely wouldn't be on the schedule to install and commission my system before then but Sandbar worked with me to find a financing option that provided many of the monetary benefits of the tax rebate with minimal restrictions. Sandbar completed a site audit in September and finalized the system design in November. Just after the new year, I got word that all the pieces were in place and Sandbar would start applying for permits and work with PG&E to be able to schedule our install. Drake and his team came out in the second week of January to start the installation process. I was kept in the loop and told what to expect for each day of the process. Installation wrapped up within 4 days with minimal impact to our lives and we began a dance with PG&E to sign off and install a meter collar that unfortunately lasted a few weeks, all the while Sandbar kept me up to date. Once PG&E installed the meter collar and signed off, Sandbar was back out quickly to commission the system and get me fully set up. Since commissioning, I've already seen a great impact on my winter energy bills and look forward to the rest of the seasons. After installation, Sandbar went the extra mile to help me navigate the San Jose Clean Energy rebate program after some initial issues applying and receiving the rebate. They worked with me and SJCE to ensure that I qualified and that I would receive the full rebate for my battery installation. I've already recommended Sandbar Solar to others and I'd recommend them to you as well, dear reader.

All smooth and no cost creep. That is because we chose Sandbar. Sandbar is truly different. A step above others. And now we know why. 1. IN-PERSON. Others provided us a quote by email sight unseen. That made us feel weary. Sandbar came to see our house first, inspected all the areas that would have been affected by the installation and by meeting us they understood what our energy goal (present and future) was and our peeve points. That turned out to be CRUCIAL for us and I still believe today that assures no surprises. BTW, no cost associated to this in person quote. 2. NO $ SURPRISES. No cost creep. And nope... their quote was not the highest either of the ones we got. 3. COMMUNICATION. They are good communicators at every level. From David to Jocelyn to Alicia. And they seem to talk to each other too so there were no crosswires. 4. REBATES. Their assistance goes us above and beyond and thanks to the post set up walk through visit, it includes submitting rebates, setting up the app and answering all our new-to-Solar questions. So so soooooo helpful! Bottom line: Sandbar is a mile above others. Fair pricing and excellent support. Truly a mile above others!
