I had a shower that would not give any hot water. When I turned the shower knob to hot, it would still remain cold after several minutes. I contacted Affordable Plumbing Services because of their sparkling reputation. Mike was very professional. He asked a few questions about what was happening and gave me an estimate on what he thought it would cost to repair. He gave me a time window that he could be over to look at the shower. He was communicative about when he was on his way and arrived right in the middle of the window. When he arrived he had all the tools and parts necessary to fix my shower valve and let me know what parts were worn out and needed to be replaced. The 5 star reviews here are on point. I contacted Mike via Yelp over the weekend for a leak around my water main shut-off valve. He responded very quickly and asked for some pictures, after which he provided a very reasonable quote. He came out several days later to do the repair. The day before the repair, he came out to my house to scope out the project. Very nice touch. Communication was excellent throughout, and he showed up on time on the date of service and got the job done. The water company took a long time (4+ hours) to come back and turn the service back. He couldn't wait around for that, since we had no idea when they'd come by. I decided to pay him for the work, and he could have completely checked out at that point. But he kept following up to ask if they'd arrived and confirm the repair was working well. It did. I like detail, and he explained everything in detail, including the risks of the repair. I felt he was very straight forward. I recommend him highly. read more

Michael did an excellent job replacing my kitchen sink faucet. I was trying to finally reduce my honey do list that has been untouched for 6 years. I had three objectives, and shared all three. He quoted for the faucet and offered to look at the other two when he got there. One issue failed to demonstrate itself while he was there and he said it wouldn't be a certainty to be fixed but he has an avenue he could try. Another issue is a toilet that won't stop running, after some decisions about fixing or replacing he actually talked me out of that job entirely. He has had a bad experience in the past of a wife reducing the honey do list with an experienced professional. Finally the faucet, you supply your own, but the plate that covers the two extra holes in a sink is wider for some faucets and narrower for others. When he discovered this he offered to skip the plate but patiently waited when a went back to Home Depot to bring home a couple more choices. He didn't charge extra for the 20 extra minutes to wait. He was courteous, offered advice on a nearby pipe and checked the line pressure. My new faucet works like a champ! read more

I'm so grateful that Michael solved the issue with our tub/shower diverter. It may not sound like a big deal to you, but after years of frustration with a dysfunctional diverter, it's so gratifying to have it now work perfectly. We had been told by other plumbers "Sorry, I can't help you because the brand no longer exists", but Michael went above and beyond searching for a workable part.
