We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

Because of the good experience I had with having Clean Solar install panels at my house I reached out to them to see if they would service panels installed by another, and thankfully they accepted the job. After some back and forth with their customer support, they remotely assessed that the inverter failed and they would install a new one for a reasonable price. Clean Solar employee Jose arrived early for the install and he was very polite and relatable. He replaced the inverter and did not leave until he made sure that the system was back up and running and production was being reported in the app. I recommend Clean Solar to anyone needing their panels serviced or to install a new system. Jose is an excellent employee and my mom had a great experience working with him.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

I am a little overdue for writing this review. I got solar installed last year by Freedom and the…read moreprocess was pretty painless and I have had no problems with the hardware they installed. After talking to one installer I decided that it was required for whoever I gave my project to that I wanted them to be NABCEP certified (so that you can be sure they know what they are doing). Freedom passed this check. The other thing that put Freedom in the upper tier of consideration is that they were recommended by the guys who installed my roof (and did an awesome job). I felt confident that my roof would not be leaking after the install. The hardest part for me was deciding how many panels to install. 8 would cover my current needs, and 16 would likely cover me if I replaced by water heater and central heater with heat pumps, but it is unclear exactly when these systems might fail. So I split the difference at 12 and am still comfortable that that is the right choice for me (it is going to be at least 5 years before I replace one of them). Due to the NetMetering 2.0 deadline last year I was only able to get two quotes for a 12 panel solution. Freedom Solar was significantly below the other quote and they passed my other requirements so I pulled the trigger and signed a contract with them. Due to the backlog of installs of people trying to beat the aforementioned deadline they set my expectations realistically. But due to things out of their control they were able to move me up the queue by several months. Cool. The install went as planned (there was one problem but that one was on me). This was completed in 2 days, and turned on shortly later by PG&E. 15 months later the system is still working with no problem, and no leaks in my roof. And it sure is nice paying $0 to PG&E for electricity every month... My overall impressions: Responsive company, low-pressure sales, very good communications, and they do quality work. I would definitely recommend them.

Very poor experience from my end with the sales rep, Kris R focusing on sales commission rather than customer needs. So I had just been burned the end of the year that cost me 20K in extra taxes. I was mistrustful about the entire industry at that point, but I wanted solar and the tax credits were to be eliminated end of 2025. That's when I called Sunwise and met Ali. He stayed in contact with me, and then came to the house to do an evaluation. From the beginning there was something more human about his approach than my previous experience. He is professional, knowledgable, and an excellent customer service representative. After signing a proposal that was about the same amount of money as the previous one in 2024, we started figuring out delivery and installation. Because the tax credits were expiring, all solar companies had a rush of business. As with any project, there were a few glitches along the way. Ali was always available and able to smooth things to keep the project moving forward. Chris came with his team to install the panels and batteries. They knew what they were doing. I have gone into my attic months later during a big rain storm and there are no roof leaks. After the installation, there was a glitch with the batteries and I still remember Chris and Sam working in the rain, on the phone with the manufacturer until the system was working correctly. Also the previous solar company insisted(at the last minute) that I needed a sub panel for an extra 5K. Sunwise figured out how to install with no extra expense. Ali, Chris, and Sam are owners of the company and that's who I dealt with. All professionals. I can still write any of them and they respond quickly Even though my experience with the previous solar company was awful, things worked out best for me. I had a very good experience with Sunwise and highly recommend them.
