Rarely do I get an upset business man calling irate and looking for a UHAUL truck that he thought…read morewas supposed to be on his lot 8 days before its scheduled return. The original contract was amended the by the Longview Uhaul dealer where we rented it. It took 2 trucks to get our belongs from Longview to Crandall and the house we were buying was scheduled to close within 7 days after we sold our house in Longview so my husband asked the Longview dealer if we could keep the truck an additional week so she added 10 days and 130 miles onto the contract. The problem began when the drop off UHAUL dealer 613 US Hwy 80 Sunnyvale, TX thought the truck would be dropped off on 6-20-2019 as originally planned so he had promised a truck to a customer that he did not have. When we returned the truck his 2 older polite gentlemen said they seen something about an additional 10 days but the OWNER told them to get off the phone to UHAUL 800 number they would not answer their phone they are too busy on Fridays. All the customers could feel the anger in his voice. He said their UHAUL system was down but the lady behind me returning a UHAUL trailer and got a receipt for her return. I stood there until he said we could not get a receipt for our return of the 26 ft truck we rented and I asked for a hand written receipt and he refused and said it would NOT hold up in a court of law. He suggested we take our phone and snap a picture of the truck in front of WOOD Finishers and his Antique shop so we did and left. If you like dealing with an ill tempered boss that treats his employees like DIRT this is a great place to go!!!

I don't normally write negative reviews, but people need to know about my experience with U-Haul…read more What started as a simple weekend rental turned into one of the most dangerous driving experiences I've ever had. The truck I rented repeatedly stalled while I was driving. It first happened on city streets, then three times on Interstate 20. Twice it went from highway speed to a complete stop in moving traffic with cars and semi-trucks all around me. The final time, it left me stranded on top of an overpass bridge while I was on the phone with U-Haul reporting the issue. If you've ever been stopped on top of an overpass with traffic flying by, you know how dangerous that is. Now image that in a U-Haul truck! When I contacted U-Haul, my immediate concern was safety. Instead, I was told this was "normal" for the truck because it was around a quarter tank of fuel and that I should have added gas sooner. A roadside mechanic later confirmed that explanation was incorrect--the fuel pump was failing and the truck was not safe to drive. Even after their own mechanic advised the truck shouldn't be on the road, I was still asked to return it until they eventually agreed to tow it. To make matters worse, I was then charged because it was returned to a different location. Mechanical failures can happen with any rental company. What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled. When a customer reports a vehicle repeatedly stalling on the highway and leaving them stranded on top of an overpass bridge, the first priority should be safety--not assigning blame or arguing over where the truck should be returned. I hope U-Haul takes situations like this more seriously in the future. No rental is worth putting someone's life--or the lives of everyone else on the road--at risk.
