We had a solar water heater installed for our pool by Suntrek solar in June of 2019. We noticed in May of 2022 there appeared to be a leak of some kind in one of the solar panels on the roof. You can see the image attached to this review of the leak area and corresponding discoloration due to evaporation of the pool water. I contacted Suntrek and scheduled an appointment for repair of this apparent leak. While on the roof, the repair technician found a second leak in the piping supplying the panel. The panels were made by Suntrek and under warranty. Apparently the panels had two small splices put into the tubing either at the factory or during install in 2019 on the roof. After some back and forth about this issue, and speaking with the owner himself, Suntrek sent Ian a repair technician out who fixed the piping issue. Then a second visit, Ian repaired the panel itself. Ian was incredibly professional and kind and did a great job. Suntrek stood behind their product and installation and fixed my system so that it works properly. We paid good money for a good product and service, and in the end, that is what we have received from Suntrek. read more

This is just a quick note to say that you can trust this company to stand behind their work. Suntrek installed a pool solar panel for me 18 months ago. Very nice work I thought at the time, and they also did some repairs on another solar system I have as well. The work crew, especially the guy in charge, were very intelligent, responsive and responsible. Well, a leak has developed in the plumbing. I can't yet speak as to why this might have happened, but Suntrek has been very responsive in identifying the source of the leak, and when they determined that it was in the equipment that they installed, they immediately said that they would repair it, and actually replace all of the piping to ensure that this doesn't happen again. It is great when a company stands behind their work when there is a problem. If I had to do it again, I would go with Suntrek even if they were not the lowest bid for a project, as the hassle of dealing with an unresponsive company is just not worth it. read more

We hired Suntrek to relocate our pool solar. They seemed to do a prompt and good job. After turning it on the first year we had an issue, which they promptly came out and repaired at no cost. The second year (2018) we have an air leak. It took a while to get them out to the house where they said they replaced a valve that didn't solve the problem. They claimed it was my pool equipment. I was charged for this by Suntrek. After having my pool equipment fully checked out, it was determined there is no problem with the pool equipment. I've now emailed Suntrek twice with zero response. Customer service seems to disappear after the sale. It shouldn't be so hard to get a response and I shouldn't be charged for not fixing the problem. read more

I'm not sure what you could say that is bad about these guys. My pool guy recommended them for pool solar and prepped them on what I needed. The guy came out, took measurements and asked me a few questions about what I wanted in terms of temperature. I had already met with three different vendors so my questions were pretty specific and the guy knew his stuff. The price came in WELL below what others were offering. I was a little worried about the stuff that was left off, like the variable speed pump, but they assured me it was fine. The work was scheduled within two weeks and the crew did everything in a day. They were quiet and clean. I had one problem with a leak from a cracked pipe. It was pretty minor but I noticed some wet spots on my roof after a week. I called the office and they sent someone out right away who replace the part quickly with no questions asked. I don't know what the other reviewer is saying about post installation support because it was great in my case. I've now had the system for a few months and it's worked flawlessly. Our water is consistently 85 degrees every day and we haven't even had to put our cover on at night. Overall, I think it is a great value and I'm looking forward to extending my pool season into the fall. Also, given how smoothly pool solar went, I will also be calling Suntrek for PV solar when the time comes. read more

I relied on my pool guy to recommend solar for my pool. He swears by Well they installed my system incorrectly the first time. I was gone for a week and left it on. Glad nothing happened except my pool turning green. Could of been lots worse. They came out just to paint the pipes and the installer looked st the system and explained how they had set it up wrong. He fixed it. In the meantime I had to go buy all the pool chemicals to try and fix my green pool. I was told by Nichol that they would reimburse me for the chemicals. Not to my surprise, I have not seen that check yet and no response to 2 emails. Makes me wonder if I need warranty work how responsive they will be. Please be careful when choosing your pool solar. UPDATE I have had many conversations over the past few days since I posted a 1 Star review. I am sorry that it took that review to get someone's attention. I believe that the company cares about their customers when they hear about issues and truly want to correct/resolve whatever the problem is/was. I changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars because they should have been more responsive in the beginning and even though they did respond after my review, I was not happy with the explanation. My electric bill in the summer was regularly between $350 and $450 a month. I shopped around for solar panels, bought them from SunTrek and haven't been happier. My highest bill since the installation was $36. What really impressed me about SunTrek is they worked with me to help me get the best deal, (price, delivery date, convenience to me, and cleanliness of the installation). We got suntrek about 15 years ago. We were the first in our area to have solar pool heat installed by Suntrek. They did a great job on the install with no delays. We have had a few small problems but they came right out and took care of them. I have been dealing with their office staff since and the people that you contact for any further work have been very nice and a pleasant experience. We have them come out and winterize our solar and have never had a problem with them programing our pool for the winter of summer months. Their system is different than most solar companies, but has worked fantastic. It extends our swim time about a month sooner and a month longer. If you are considering solar for you pool I highly recommend Suntrek. read more

I researched several companies before deciding to use SUNTREK. I found their product to be superior. SUNTREK's technical staff satisfactorily addressed all my concerns (roof leaks, warranty, etc.,). I ended up needing 500LF of solar tubing, replaced my old pump with a new Pentair VS pump and added a Pentair eco gas heater in order to enjoy my pool year round. I do not write reviews often however, since I am very satisfied with the work SUNTREK performed I thought this review was in order. Don't be fooled by Suntrek's employees. Miss Amanda, Tabatha or whomever. The warranty was for 15 years not 12. Can you count. Let's not forget about the insurance scam were Suntrek completed the claim papers for us to send in so Suntrek could apply a new heating system that only lasted 2 weeks. Let's see new system installed means an additional 15 years. The last thing you want to do is go to war with me because you will not win. Suntrek materials were below market standards and Suntrek did nothing for us. Our insurance DID cover the mold caused by the cracked and warped Suntrek tubes. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU COMMENT. And Tabby when the crappy materials were installed the pool was brand new as is all the equipment we had replaced last year. The pool is great. The insurance didn't cover the damage to the roof caused by the materials used by Suntrek. And Suntrek a multi million dollar company is to cheap to cover the damage caused from panels they put on our roof. If not for SUNTREK we would not need to replace our roof. Amanda it's ok I can do this all day. Suntrek Solar never worked for us and didn't heat the pool. We always had to use the heater to heat the pool. With the solar gone we finally had a worry free pool season. read more

I needed my pool solar heating panels professionally removed for a re-roofing project at my house in Napa, and talked to 5 companies. I met Tabby from Suntrek and she was refreshingly super professional, courteous and knowledgeable. After asking her to provide me two bids on two possible reconfigurations for the reinstall, she said no problem, and took some measurements. Suntrek was the most reasonable in cost while being by far the most responsive, and familiar with various solar systems. Then they executed perfectly, they really knew what they were doing both on the removal and re installation on the new roof utilizing a "quick mount" flashing system the panels are mounted on (that doesn't void the roof warranty). Suntrek install a solar heating system for my pool about a month ago. Suntrek was very respectful of my time and arranged a time after work to quote a bid and talk to me about the product and the process of installing product. I was concern about the installation but Steve showed me exactly where it would come off my existing pump and how he would run the plumbing up the roof. The installation was done on a Saturday and it took a little over half a day. Ryan answered all my questions during the process and offered all the information I needed to know to run the system successfully. We barely used the pool this summer (San Jose, Ca), due to the cold water temp. We needed our existing pool solar panels moved to a different side of the roof, and while other companies told us we really couldn't do that without buying a whole new system, Ryan at Suntrek told us, "no problem!" This review is purely on in office customer service as I never did get to experience their service work. My first call was on 5/1/15 requesting a seasonal start-up of our solar pool system. I spoke to Alexis, she was friendly and quoted me a price for the service and explained someone would contact me by Monday to schedule an appointment. I never heard from anyone and followed up with a phone call on 5/13/15. I spoke to Alexis again and told her that I never received a return phone call. She apologized and explained that they were busy and I probably would not be seen for about 3 weeks. She was going to pass my information on to a Tabby as this was my second call and she would see if I could be seen any earlier and assured me I would hear back from someone by Friday, 5/15. Today is 5/19/15 and I still have had no return contact from their office. Disappointing. read more

I had a problem with my roof that required close coordination between my roofing company for the repair, and Suntrek for the removal and replacement of a solar pipe. It might sound easy, but past experiences with multiple companies for any type of "coordination and collaboration" left me with more than a little concern. We hired Suntrek at the recommendation of our roofers to remove and install our solar panels when the roof was replaced. We have two major complaints with Suntrek: 1) After observing our PG&E records for a year, we realized our system's output was a fraction of what it had been before their re-installation. After their own electrician came out to assess the situation, the panels needed to be completely rewired. However, the system afterwards was still not operating at its full capacity. We hired another contractor (at our own cost) who found more irregularities that were compromising the system--and finally brought the panels up to their full capacity. 2) When we asked to speak to the owner, his attitude was sarcastic and belittling--he yelled at us through most of the phone call! He refused to acknowledge the validity of any of our input, even when we had an independent solar contractor's notes and diagram of the bad wiring ( Suntrek had ignored our request for a diagram). The owner adamantly refused to give us any compensation for lost production of electricity and for our own expenses in getting the system back to full capacity. It seemed to us that he bullies his customers. Not a good business practice! This is my first negative review on Yelp-- I am writing it because I don't want other people to go through the traumatic experience we did with Suntrek-- and particularly with its owner. read more

I went with Suntrek to install 450 sq ft of thermal solar equipment for my pool. Steve, the sales professional, was very knowledgeable about the product and the benefits I would receive. The pricing came in a bit higher than other bids I received, but we were able to come to terms with a price that fit my budget and was acceptable to Suntrek. The actual install went very well and Ryan, who handled all the electrical work, was a star. He ended up upgrading my hard wire panel to a wireless for very cheap and was very thorough ensuring everything worked properly. He also offered his direct phone number in case I had any questions in the future on any of the functionality of the system. All in all, I am very happy with Suntrek and would highly recommend their product/services to anyone interested in a solar system. read more

Watch out for these guys. They'll sell you the system and install it prompt. They were so proud of their 15 year warranty. It was on a piece of heavy paper. After six years there are solar panels look like black worms on my roof. my pool service was having a hard time keeping my pool clean. All Clear Pool Service Tech said there was black pieces of rubbery like material on the bottom of the pool. He got a handful and showed it to me. Yep it was the solar panels deteriorating and bleeding into my pool. I looked at my contract. On the back in faded print was the real warranty. I would advise you to look at it closely. suntrek told me they believed that the damage was done by the extreme weather. The insurance adjuster and my roofer said it looked like the belt holding the panels broke and Solar panels were deteriorating into my pool. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. I chose Suntrek to install a photo voltaic system at my home. I did my research and got 4 bids on like systems. The sales person from Suntrek was very knowledgeable and a real "hands on guy." He could answer any question that I threw at him. He came through with all of his commitments. All the companies I considered had very similar payment terms. All were very good companies. Two of the companies were recommended to me by neighbors. I went with 30 Canadian Solar panels and Enphase micro inverters.Suntrek provided the best price, the fastest delivery, the longest warranty and the installation was absolutely nothing short of excellent. The installation crew and the office personnel were very curtious and stayed in constant communication with me from the start of the project to completion. They went above and beyond on the actual install. They did not cut any corners. They could have run the conduit across the roof and instead ran it through the attic.The solar panels had to be placed on the front of the house. So, I was concerned about the aesthetics of the installation. The system looks fantastic from the panels themselves all the way back to the service box on the side of the house.I had paint from recently painting the house that they used to paint any of the exposed eletrical conduit (not much) and service boxes (both in the garage and outside). I simply can not imagine how Suntrek could have done any more on this job. read more
