My husband and I dug in our heels FOREVER, when it came to getting solar. There were all kinds of salespeople who came to our home on a monthly basis, and we just never had a real peace about being able to trust what we were being " sold", or told. My parents purchased solar from a HORRIBLE company that sounds a lot like 'SunFun'. After they passed away, and the house was sold...we were STILL making the monthly payments for over a year!!! That SunFun organization REFUSED to transfer the solar to the new homeowner, and eventually stopped taking or acknowledging our calls. I have to honestly say we are super impressed with this company. We were recommended by a co-worker of my husband. Going local made so much more sense, if something goes wrong, there's no need to wait weeks to get it fixed. Someone will come and repair anything in a couple days. The larger companies can't make that happen. We decided to go with the larger install and added a battery to get that added protection and savings, and I'm so happy we did. Hermelinda was our main contact in customer support and she was always on top of it, along with Janai, Bri, and Stephanie, if Hermelinda was out of the office. My rooftop solar system stopped working after a squirrel chewed through the wiring. The company that originally installed the system was not interested in making the repairs. My project is now finished and it's been about 6 months turned on and functioning- I'm still so glad that I did this with Ambrose Solar. Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. Absolutely thrilled with my solar system from Ambrose - 4 years later and still going strong! From start to finish, the installation process was seamless. Planning, permits, inspection, and PTO all went off without a hitch - no surprises, no delays. The team at Ambrose was professional, communicative, and clearly knew what they were doing. Four years in, I'm still seeing the benefits. My system was sized perfectly, and I actually end up with a small annual true-up credit. Even better, I've been completely insulated from PG&E's constant rate hikes - my energy costs are stable and predictable. One of the best decisions I made was including a battery. I live in an area heavily impacted by PG&E's Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS), which has already triggered nine power outages this year alone. Thanks to the battery backup, I barely notice. They have not accepted any responsibility in the damage and cost that we have incurred during this process. We were one of there first customers, we believe in supporting local businesses but I have second thoughts now on the way we have been treated by this company. Their employee flipped me off and said "f*** you" while trespassing on my property. Employees of Ambrose Solar had their work truck parked in my private driveway blocking access. I had clear no trespassing signs posted. They stayed there for 20 minutes. My mother came over and could not access my property because they were blocking my driveway. I waved at them to leave and the employee in the passenger seat rolled down his window, flipped me off, and said "f*** you". I called the company and spoke with someone. Ambrose Solar is BBB accredited with an A+, has excellent Google and Yelp reviews and is located close to our home. I also learnt that the company is not using subcontractors. The panels used as well as the battery were of high quality with a long warranty. From beginning to the end all was transparent and well organized. I was informed about every step and got exact information, if something like dealing with the electric company for example was not so clear. The whole installation was done in a very timely manner leaving a clean place. At the end we were well informed about the system and how to use the solar app to get most out of it and save money. Honest review: we put Ambrose through it. Main panel relocation, construction work before a single panel could go up, and a mid-project switch from Tesla to Enphase. The project took way longer than anyone wanted (my fault), but they stayed on top of the project, worked through every complication with us, and helped us land on ideal solutions. Today we've got a system that runs great and we're barely drawing from the grid. If you've got a straightforward install, great. Ambrose can handle it. Ambrose sales Tory Kelly found the best package for me, shared very clearly regarding the warranty so we have peace in mind. The customer service is also great, Stephanie Reiser helped me on the SGIP credit from PGE. Ambrose Solar...the company so nice I used them twice! I did my primary solar install in 2021. After speaking to four companies, Ambrose presented the strongest options for my household and they went above and beyond. My original install required a replacement for my electrical panel. Even though this was an extra step with an additional sub-contractor, it was no sweat for the Ambrose team. Everything moved like clockwork, communication was relevant and proactive, and everything was delivered as promised. Round two: I put an addition on my house and needed to add on some panels. I had the pleasure of working with Tory from the Ambrose team who very clearly explained my options, identifying what was the most favorable one. From beginning to end, our experience with Ambrose Solar was outstanding. Paul, our sales guy, was really helpful to us as we tried to navigate and anticipate the future electricity needs we would have (heat pump furnace, EV) vis a vie our current usage history and limited roof sun. As he commented, we wouldn't regret putting up more panels, especially as our summer temps get warmer with each passing year. (We wish we'd been able to add more, but the cost vs. the solar production didn't make sense with our limited sun situation.) From there, the installation team was awesome. Lots of communication and updates along the way and the work was done timely and without delays. They even painted the metal housing of the wires so everything blends in with the house wall and looks great. Permitting, hook-up, etc. all went perfectly. I have a solar system already, and was looking at the viability of adding to my system, or adding a battery. I connected with a firm on-line who put me in touch with Ambrose. I was prepared for a hard-sell, since the firm is in the business of selling solar systems. I spoke with Paul and my anxiety was allayed immediately. He was practical, well-informed, and did his research into my particular situation. He said that adding panels could yield some benefit, but given my current energy use it would take a millennia to recover the costs, and it may have the unintended consequence of knocking me out of PG&E's NEM I that I was grandfathered into having purchased the original system 10 years ago. This sort of candor was completely unexpected and very refreshing. If I were to get an EV car or increase my electricity usage, I would call up Paul with complete confidence that I'd be given the straight story on what I should do. I'm very impressed. read more

Ambrose Solar broke ground on our property 12/30 or 31/2024. Here we are in June 2025 WITH NO SOLAR powered electricity. Our panels are up, batteries installed, panel box installed-for months now. We have a huge trench left in our backyard from them, and we have 4 children, causing a serious hazard. They have been dragging their feet for almost half a year now. Even today one of their sales-men was trying to gaslight my husband. Almost at the point of telling them to come get their equipment and give us a full refund. This is ridiculous and the financial damages my family has accrued is astronomical. 10/10 do NOT recommend. read more

Everything prior to the contract being signed was excellent, then once it was signed we hit some turbulence. Long delays, project manager used pre-written replies to tell you there was no update... After 3 months of no activity, we finally had an install date. The install was excellent, no complaints there. Now sunstrong is charging for the app to see your own panel data. Seems like sunpower sold data access to sunstrong and now they are making you pay for your solar panel data. Then, when I say "no thank you" as soon as they start trying to selling me on their product (after they ignored all the signs) the guy just stares at me trying to intimidate me because he is so upset I shut him down. Adding to my previous review of 4 stars at the start of the project, it's now just about done and everything has gone very well, one thing that really makes me feel like I have hired real professionals is my visit to their offices in Vacaville, it's very nice clean professional looking office and shop. The staff are very knowledgeable and very customer oriented. If anyone needs solar installed Ambrose is probably the best you'll find in the area. All we have left is the PGE steps but based on how the majority of install went I'm more than willing to complete my review with 5 stars! He was very patient with me trying to decide how big the system needed to be. I had a great installation crew that was at my house for two days, they were professional and very cordial. I had a nice surprise because I was assisted by Stephanie Reiser to submit an application for a SGIP Rebate from PG&E and rewarded with a check to cover part of the battery cost.
