My husband and I dug in our heels FOREVER, when it came to getting solar. There were all kinds of salespeople who came to our home on a monthly basis, and we just never had a real peace about being able to trust what we were being " sold", or told. My project is now finished and it's been about 6 months turned on and functioning- I'm still so glad that I did this with Ambrose Solar. Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. What a GREAT company. It is often said that it's the people that make things work. That must be the moto at Ambrose. About 9 months ago we had a complicated solar system installed. I have to honestly say we are super impressed with this company. We were recommended by a co-worker of my husband. Going local made so much more sense, if something goes wrong, there's no need to wait weeks to get it fixed. Someone will come and repair anything in a couple days. The larger companies can't make that happen. We decided to go with the larger install and added a battery to get that added protection and savings, and I'm so happy we did. Honest review: we put Ambrose through it. Main panel relocation, construction work before a single panel could go up, and a mid-project switch from Tesla to Enphase. The project took way longer than anyone wanted (my fault), but they stayed on top of the project, worked through every complication with us, and helped us land on ideal solutions. Today we've got a system that runs great and we're barely drawing from the grid. If you've got a straightforward install, great. Ambrose can handle it. I had clear no trespassing signs posted. They stayed there for 20 minutes. My mother came over and could not access my property because they were blocking my driveway. Absolutely thrilled with my solar system from Ambrose - 4 years later and still going strong! From start to finish, the installation process was seamless. Planning, permits, inspection, and PTO all went off without a hitch - no surprises, no delays. The team at Ambrose was professional, communicative, and clearly knew what they were doing. Four years in, I'm still seeing the benefits. My system was sized perfectly, and I actually end up with a small annual true-up credit. Even better, I've been completely insulated from PG&E's constant rate hikes - my energy costs are stable and predictable. One of the best decisions I made was including a battery. After speaking to four companies, Ambrose presented the strongest options for my household and they went above and beyond. My original install required a replacement for my electrical panel. Even though this was an extra step with an additional sub-contractor, it was no sweat for the Ambrose team. Everything moved like clockwork, communication was relevant and proactive, and everything was delivered as promised. Round two: I put an addition on my house and needed to add on some panels. I had the pleasure of working with Tory from the Ambrose team who very clearly explained my options, identifying what was the most favorable one. From beginning to end, our experience with Ambrose Solar was outstanding. Paul, our sales guy, was really helpful to us as we tried to navigate and anticipate the future electricity needs we would have (heat pump furnace, EV) vis a vie our current usage history and limited roof sun. As he commented, we wouldn't regret putting up more panels, especially as our summer temps get warmer with each passing year. (We wish we'd been able to add more, but the cost vs. the solar production didn't make sense with our limited sun situation.) From there, the installation team was awesome. Lots of communication and updates along the way and the work was done timely and without delays. They even painted the metal housing of the wires so everything blends in with the house wall and looks great. Permitting, hook-up, etc. all went perfectly. Ambrose Solar broke ground on our property 12/30 or 31/2024. Here we are in June 2025 WITH NO SOLAR powered electricity. Our panels are up, batteries installed, panel box installed-for months now. We have a huge trench left in our backyard from them, and we have 4 children, causing a serious hazard. They have been dragging their feet for almost half a year now. Even today one of their sales-men was trying to gaslight my husband. Almost at the point of telling them to come get their equipment and give us a full refund. This is ridiculous and the financial damages my family has accrued is astronomical. 10/10 do NOT recommend. read more

I was prepared for a hard-sell, since the firm is in the business of selling solar systems. I spoke with Paul and my anxiety was allayed immediately. He was practical, well-informed, and did his research into my particular situation. He said that adding panels could yield some benefit, but given my current energy use it would take a millennia to recover the costs, and it may have the unintended consequence of knocking me out of PG&E's NEM I that I was grandfathered into having purchased the original system 10 years ago. This sort of candor was completely unexpected and very refreshing. If I were to get an EV car or increase my electricity usage, I would call up Paul with complete confidence that I'd be given the straight story on what I should do. I'm very impressed. read more

Everything prior to the contract being signed was excellent, then once it was signed we hit some turbulence. Long delays, project manager used pre-written replies to tell you there was no update... After 3 months of no activity, we finally had an install date. The install was excellent, no complaints there. Now sunstrong is charging for the app to see your own panel data. Seems like sunpower sold data access to sunstrong and now they are making you pay for your solar panel data. Ambrose worked with these companies and now they are screwing their customers out of something as simple as their panel data with no way to compare historical performance. read more

He was very patient with me trying to decide how big the system needed to be. I had a great installation crew that was at my house for two days, they were professional and very cordial. I had a nice surprise because I was assisted by Stephanie Reiser to submit an application for a SGIP Rebate from PG&E and rewarded with a check to cover part of the battery cost. Adding to my previous review of 4 stars at the start of the project, it's now just about done and everything has gone very well, one thing that really makes me feel like I have hired real professionals is my visit to their offices in Vacaville, it's very nice clean professional looking office and shop. The staff are very knowledgeable and very customer oriented. If anyone needs solar installed Ambrose is probably the best you'll find in the area. All we have left is the PGE steps but based on how the majority of install went I'm more than willing to complete my review with 5 stars! We contracted with Ambrose to install our solar panel and backup battery last year and the system has been working great for the last 1.5 years. From the initial assessment, through installation, and final inspection with PG&E, all staff we worked with from Ambrose are very professional. Whenever we have a question for the project, they are just a phone call away. They even helped us apply PG&E's SGIP incentive program and Stephanie Reiser patiently guided us throughout the process, submitted the necessary documents for us, and we finally received the check from PG&E after a year. Ambrose just finished a 21 panel, 8.7 kW system and I am very happy with the job that was done. First step was a breeze. Carlos gave me the rundown in an easy to understand and friendly manner. I was ready to go after that initial meeting. Once the initial survey was done it was found that my current panel was very outdated and overloaded which was expected. I had a city inspector present coincidentally at the same time for an EV Charger install who commented on this as well. Carlos went over the options and new estimates and again this was easy to understand and the process to change project requirements was simple. The next step took some time to get going because of the paperwork, processing and pge, but once everything was in order the pieces started moving with the first piece being a sub panel. Those guys were great and in a house built in the 1950s there was a lot of wiring going in different directions, but they did a great job getting everything into the new sub panel and their install was very clean. The next step was a Main panel replacement the next week. This step went smoothly as well. The main panel was changed out, stucco was replaced and color matched to the best of their ability, inspected and we moved onto the last step, solar panels & monitoring system. The solar panel install had some hiccups, but overall I am now satisfied with this last step as well. The panels were installed, monitoring system installed, everything was tested and works and then inspected and passed. We did have some issue with some of the finer details being completed to our liking such as drywall repair/paint, dirty solar panels, and worker cleanup. However, I want to note that once I made these concerns known Pamela apologized and sent another crew out to fix these issues. I am very impressed that they acted quickly and rectified these concerns without any complaint and I felt at all times my satisfaction was their number 1 concern. The last crew they sent made sure to go over everything with a fine tooth comb and I am happy with the results. The solar system passed the final inspection without issue and we are now waiting for PGE to give us the green light. Overall, I would recommend this company to anyone looking to add solar to their home because although we had some hiccups at the end, Ambrose made it right and made sure we as the customer were their priority at all times. If I had to pick just one thing to point out it would be the communication. Each crew introduced themselves well, walked us through what they were doing, and through what the next steps would be. Remarkable customer service. I received various proposals and estimates from 9-10 different solar companies, all of whom were all similar in pricing and value. What stood out with Ambrose Solar is that Kelsey Commerford (the sales rep from Ambrose Solar) was thorough, persistent with following up, and very flexible with building my solar system and making adjustments as I learned more about solar along the process. I decided to ultimately go with Ambrose Solar. The installation took place with planning involving many phases and stages. (inspection, permits etc..) often times various personnel from different departments would come and go but everything was coordinated and executed seamlessly. Vincent was the project coordinator and he did a fine job. Appointments were set up and honored on time. Jobs were completed ahead of schedule.. follow up phone calls were always answered promptly. During the installation one of the members fell through my attic ceiling causing drywall and insulation to scatter everywhere. He was very apologetic and the level of professionalism with this matter impressed me. They repaired the damage and cleaned up the mess as if nothing happened. It's been 4 months since the install was complete and we are happy with our solar panels and powerwall 3. No issues as of yet, but I have confidence I can reach out to Ambrose Solar anytime and get my issues addressed appropriately if something goes wrong. A few things that could've been done better (but not enough to drop a star) is the electrician who installed my powerwall 3 was not familiar with the Tesla App and so I had to research on my own time how to setup the different functions and familiarize myself with the powerwall 3 system Tesla App. I also had a closing appointment setup with Kelsey Commerford but I did not hear from him, which I found a bit out of the company's element considering all communication had not missed a beat.
