    Panels on the roof
    Chris H.

I did a lot of research for our solar project. I received four bids and chose them for the most value. My reps Darrin and Carrie Chamberlin were awesome and explained the whole process clearly. Travis and his helper were great too! Very happy with the work done by West Coast Solar!

This panel had stopped producing for quite some time before I noticed. The "monitoring" you're promised doesn't mean much. Its all on you.

Updating this review on 2/20/2024. System still underproducing their "guarantee" for three years now. They continue to give me the runaround on the money they owe me for the shortfall AND for a Plan to increase production by adding more panels. AVOID THIS COMPANY. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY ISSUES WITH THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN MET WITH TERRIBLE SERVICE AND SUPPORT. The positive reviews here are from customer installs where they haven't yet had to get help. The battery failed, the system under produces their gurantee, my communications are ignored, fixes are not offered, my time is wasted, AND they weren't even the cheapest provider. Issue after issue. Every one has been a disaster.

My solar stopped working nearly 6 months ago and is STILL offline
    Eric C.

Attention Aaron B. My West Coast Solar system has been offline and not producing power for nearly 6 months!!! Contacted PG&E to discuss excessive true up bill on August 25th 2023. They informed me that the solar system stopped producing power nearly 4 months prior, April 24th, which is what led to the excessive usage. Neither West Coast Solar nor SolarEdge monitoring informed me the system was not generating power. Contacted West Coast Solar immediately, they scheduled a tech to come out the following week. Two voicemails I left during the week to confirm the appointment were never responded to. Technician arrived and confirmed that the system would need a burned out component RMA'd. No ETA was given for repair. Contacted West Coast Solar 3 weeks later to inquire about the status of the RMA. Was told that the tech would revisit to complete the RMA on October 2nd and to have the property assessable. The technician never showed and no further contact from West Coast Solar. Sent an email last week to West Coast Solar support asking for an update but still no response. It has been almost 7 weeks since the tech identified the problem, but the system is still offline and no follow up visit for repair has been scheduled.

West Coast Solar super clean install and gorgeous panels!

Ask the Community - West Coast Solar

Do you guys install Solar Tubes?

Unfortunately, solar tube installations are not a service we offer.

I have an existing solar system do you guys offer services to add couple of panels to existing system?

Hi, thanks for reaching out to us. We can add panels but it wouldn't be connected to the existing system it would be considered a 2nd, separate system.

Do they replace pool thermal solar systems? And if not, will you refer me to a recommended company that does?

Unfortunately, no; West Coast Solar does not work with thermal solar for pool heating.

How is the reliability of the business delivering on their promises and being competitive? Can they provide battery backup systems as well?

Very reliable! I was recommend by a few people who all had the same amazing service. They do also provide battery backups but it just didn't work for me

The crew and all of the people at United solar Electric were very responsive and professional. I would, and will do business with them again, (adding an additional battery). PG&E was a problem. PG&E was very slow with providing PTO (permission To Operate). We did not receive PTO until end of May 2026, over 6 months from the date when system was operational. PG&E will need to upgrade transformer (December ???) before we can send greater that 2000 watts back to the system. Right now, we have conditional permission to operate, limiting output to PG&E to 2.2 KW. To United Solar Electric's credit, they were with us the entire time dealing with PG&E and were just as irate with PG&E as we were. Thank you, United Solar Electric!

My wife and I had a very concerning experience with United Solar Electric regarding their business…read moreethics and refund policies. We were interested in solar for our 1940s home and provided a deposit in good faith. However, after further inspection of our roof and the overall project viability, we decided not to move forward. When we requested our deposit back--before any equipment was ordered or installation began--the company initially refused, claiming it was 'passed' the point of a refund. It was a high-pressure situation where we felt they were trying to lock us into a contract we weren't comfortable with. While we did eventually receive our deposit back after pushing the issue, the initial refusal to return funds for work not performed was a major red flag. Homeowners should be very careful with the fine print here. If you are looking for a company that values transparency and customer comfort over just 'closing the deal,' I would suggest looking elsewhere. We're glad we didn't get stuck with them and are instead putting that money into improvements that actually fit our home.

I can't say enough good things about Carlos Gomez from Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions…read more I've been working on a non-standard solar setup using an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra X and EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, and finding a contractor who truly understood this type of system was incredibly difficult. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. If you're in the Bay Area and need electrical or solar work done the right way, especially for a non-standard or custom system, I highly recommend Carlos and the team at Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions.

We got a recommendation for Del Sol from one of our friends that was happy with their process and service. We reached out to Elvin and he was able to send us over a proposal very quickly based on whatever tool they used to see our roof. He provided two options for our roof, a 19 panel configuration and a 21 panel configuration. We decided to go with the 21 panel configuration for our roof and it estimated putting us at 98% of total output. After looking at the cost of the system, we didn't think we would be able to get it for a couple of years, but Del Sol offers multiple financing options. We decided to use the local credit union for financing. After we decided on the configuration and got the financing locked down, the turnaround time was approximately three weeks. Which was a whole lot faster than we would have anticipated. Installation took a total of two days with the city inspector coming out the second day. After the installation, paperwork has to be submitted to PG&E to be turned on, which took about 10 more days. Bird proofing for our panels was part of the package and it was done a few days after the final install. Our Conclusion: So we've had our panels for about four months and are extremely happy with them. The process went extremely fast. Supporting local reputable companies are very important to the wife and I, for us it definitely felt like the process was very streamlined to the point of being overwhelming. Using reputable local companies for our home improvements has definitely paid off in spades. Del Sol already installed panels in our neighborhood and knew exactly what our HOA required. The permits were pulled in a timely manner, and inspection was scheduled and concluded on the final day of the install. The major hiccup we had was we wanted to get our roof. Inspected prior to the install. The installation team was very professional, and courteous to us during the install and checked in with us every day with what to expect for that day. The final solar manual was delivered by Elvin and he went over everything in it, which also included the app used to track the performance of your system. Everything was laid out and explained as far as all the warranty information and what to do when the county sent you that "home-improvement" letter. I shared our whole story for people that are just looking into getting solar and wanted to know what they might expect. If you're a Brentwood local, and you decide to go with Del Sol, you won't be disappointed. The quote was very comparable to all the others we received. Elvin's service and knowledge was outstanding and the installers were professional and efficient. Also being able to use a local credit Union for financing was an additional plus for us. Yes, I would recommend them for your solar system needs.
