Well all was pretty good until May of 2025. 2 panels were putting out about 35% less than the others. I called and was told they would get in touch with SolarEdge Support Team. Follow up email from Charlotte Fontanilla stated the Support Team suggested a visit to my residence for further assessment. She stated she would let me know when a service appointment could be finalized. Didn't hear anything and honestly I forgot about it until January. Called again in January and supposedly Charlotte was pretty good at NOT following up with customers according to person I spoke with. Well the response was better this time. They came out and tested "installed modules" and submitted claim on my behalf with Canadian Solar. That claim was denied but after consulting with SolarEdge they identified that it was related to the optimizers rather than the solar panels themselves. Optimizers were replaced and now different panels are not working properly. After back and forth for 4 more months now it's the panels that are bad BUT not bad enough to warranty. Very interesting. I'm hoping someone in the company with integrity will read this and fix the situation. When I purchased my solar from West Coast Solar I was told and I quote "you got bumper to bumper 25 year warranty everything is covered". Well apparently it isn't. read more

I've had my system for just about 2 years and my experience with west coast solar has been pretty consistent. By which I mean the technicians who come out have been awesome, pleasant to deal with, and do good work. When its working as Id like, the system works great. All that to say as long as you never ever ever need to reach out to them for literally anything, you'll have a great experience. Otherwise, its a nightmare. After installation it took 6 - 8 weeks of constant emails and phone calls multiple times per week to get them to resolve the installation issue (circuits missing off the backup loop) and correct my storage profile for charge/discharge. Trying to get their help both times after that has been equally atrocious, and with my system currently down I emailed the, and opened a ticket on their website (where both their phone numbers are non active) and it took another week to get a response. At this point i'd say 2 years feels consistent enough to say 4/5 stars on install and installers, 0/5 stars on customer service. read more

Just had 30 panels and 2 batteries installed after working with Kevin. They had excellent customer service and great communication through the whole process. Kevin is very sincere and gives his honest opinions. Multiple times I spent 30+ minutes on phone with Kevin asking him questions. Even after the project was complete and installed, Kevin continues to reach out to me when I have questions. I would 100% recommend this company to anyone looking for solar. The solar panels were working fine however the inverter went bad. I attempted to contact them over a 4 month period with no response. Finally I received a message that they would be at our house in three days to switch the inverter. It cost me 2K with PGE. They set a clear written precedent of accountability, but now refuse to return calls or honor their promises. 2022: When our system failed, customer service took responsibility in writing--reimbursing our $3,230.86 true-up bill for lost production and explicitly telling us to submit future statements if equipment failed again. NOW: A second inverter failure and repair delay resulted in a new $2,456.30 true-up bill. We submitted the paperwork and gave a formal 10-day window to respond, only to meet total radio silence. FRUSTRATION: Multiple emails and phone calls go into a black hole. No response, no resolution, and zero accountability. It is maddening to watch a company promise one thing in writing and then ghost you when the bill arrives. I hope sharing this helps others avoid the same headache. Sales and installation were fine but then after two years of working well, our rooftop solar stopped working. Since then, West Coast Solar has been very unresponsive and unprofessional in getting the replacement parts for our system. There's been false promises about updates, false promises that "we'll get back to you Monday" and just a complete lack of professionalism as my expensive system sits, useless on my roof, creating no power, for months. Documents arrived with no explanation and nobody bothered to call us to tell us what they were, nor did they answer our emails. Had no idea about rebates for solar systems for PGE - isn't this their business? We paid a premium to work with this company because they said they would do a better job than Tesla. Empty words! The only thing they were responsive and prompt about was bugging us to get paid. Long time customer here, as they did my solar array 12 years ago. I occasionally have to deal with replacing a micro-inverter that stop functioning, or a panel that is under-producing, and in my experience their customer service is a nightmare. They never respond to my emails... worse than that:, they send me automated emails saying they are working on my case, and will get in touch soon with an update. Then after waiting a week or two, when I call them to find out where they are at, they behave like we've never talked or received my emails. It got to the point where 1/3 of my panels were shut dead, and it still took me 2+ months to get their crew on site (rescheduled twice, always last minute, and I only found out because I called the day before to confirm). When they finally came, they solved 1/2 of the issues, left, and 10 days have gone by and they still haven't told me what they did, what is still to be fixed... 2 new micro-inverters showed up to my house... I guess because they ordered them under warranty from the manufacturer... I can never talk to a technician... or anyone that knows anything material about the project, and instead I always end up with their scheduler, and she is clearly NOT good. Did I mention, this work I need them to perform, is not under warranty (their labor warranty is 10 years), so I am actually paying for it, but it doesn't seem to matter. Also, I had to pay a deposit for their visit. Yes, you heard that right: a $175 deposit, for a visit they then postponed several time for about 2 months. I deal with dozens of services, and never pay any deposits... they show up, do the work, then bill/invoice and get paid the next day. And I have been been a customer of theirs for 12 years... I've had this system for about a year now and recently submitted a service request. It's been nearly three weeks, and I've received no meaningful response--only automated messages. Calling customer service has been equally frustrating, as no one answers, and it's difficult to even find a direct email contact online. At this point, I'm simply asking for someone to return my calls or emails and provide an update on my service request. We had our system installed in 2021 and WCS was professional but it often took several tries to reach someone. However, in the last 2 years the service has faltered significantly to the point now that they simply don't respond to emails or calls. AFAIK, they've closed. Do not use this company! They have gone down hill since they sold the company a few years back. I recently had an issue, they came out in August saying I needed a new part and they would order it. It is now February, no part no call. I have called a few times since and they say they will look at it and call me back. Haven't once received a call back. Attention Aaron B. My West Coast Solar system has been offline and not producing power for nearly 6 months!!! Contacted PG&E to discuss excessive true up bill on August 25th 2023. They informed me that the solar system stopped producing power nearly 4 months prior, April 24th, which is what led to the excessive usage. Neither West Coast Solar nor SolarEdge monitoring informed me the system was not generating power. Contacted West Coast Solar immediately, they scheduled a tech to come out the following week. Two voicemails I left during the week to confirm the appointment were never responded to. Technician arrived and confirmed that the system would need a burned out component RMA'd. No ETA was given for repair. Contacted West Coast Solar 3 weeks later to inquire about the status of the RMA. Was told that the tech would revisit to complete the RMA on October 2nd and to have the property assessable. The technician never showed and no further contact from West Coast Solar. Sent an email last week to West Coast Solar support asking for an update but still no response. It has been almost 7 weeks since the tech identified the problem, but the system is still offline and no follow up visit for repair has been scheduled. read more

From the beginning of my project to the end, West Coast Solar took care of everything and made adding a 2nd system to my home easy & stress free. I had a previous system built as soon as I moved in 8 years ago that wasn't big enough to cover all of my usage and I had bought my original system thru Costco / Sunrun. What they failed to tell me is that if, in the future, you want to add on additional panels for more power, you cannot add on and extra panels to their systems. I was flabbergasted as well as quite annoyed because my whole reason to go Solar was to save money and to not have a PG&E power bill at end of year. My end of the year true up bill went from a few hundred the first year to almost $1500 last year! That's how much electricity has gone up in the last seven years. At the end of last year, I decided it was time to build a secondary system to cover that huge and constantly growing true up bill. West Coast Solar took care of all the paperwork, all of the integration of both systems into one system, and I couldn't be happier. Now I have more power than I need and no more true up bill! We've had solar panels from WCS for about 8 years. They have worked well. We had a problem a couple years ago that was addressed quickly. This time, however, the system stopped working and West Coast Solar was not responsive. Countless emails and phone calls went unanswered, to the point where it seemed like the company went out of business. It took 5 weeks for the part to be ordered and to have a technician deliver and install the equipment. He was professional and competent. It is not his fault that we were without solar power for 5 weeks . Dealing with WCS "customer service " was extremely frustrating. Great people and great service. We needed to update the cellular modem on our inverter and West Coast quickly responded to our inquiry and easily navigated around a unexpected challenge during the replacement. The technician quickly identified a solution, made an extra trip to his shop for the replacement and had it installed ASAP. Separately, their Sales team worked to help us understand why our annual true up bill was excessive. I was quite pleased at the thoroughness and accuracy of their estimates helping us figure out how to optimize our system. Although we didn't have any space for additional panels and we weren't able to add any capacity due to space constraints, their sales team was quite thorough and detailed, modeling multiple options for us. Finally, all of thier project management and customer support folks were knowedgable and very responsive. It seems like their new customer service team handles issues with better care - they were able to enable dashboard alerts for us and got the issue resolved within a week. I had high hopes for West Coast Solars given their positive Yelp reviews and their knowledgeable sales representative I initially dealt with. However, my experience went downhill from there. The work proceeded at a a fairly quick rate as they were able to squeeze me in sooner than expected even with the influx of solar installation due to NEM. Given that they are the experts, I had a lot of confidence that the work will be done perfectly. I was wrong, the installer began deviating from the agreed-upon plan and constructing the system to how they "feel is the best". Location of the panels mounted not following per contract, caulked excess hole they made, painted over metal conduits unevenly and covering safety warning stickers. Called/emailed their Project manager about my dissatisfied service with them in hope to get everything resolved. It took many months to get a response, leaving me uncertain about the completion of the project. Communication was a significant issue, as I consistently had to follow up, but often never got a response. And on top of that they often requested payment even when the work wasn't done. The installers claimed expertise but required constant supervision and reminders. Overall, not entirely satisfied with their work ethics and communication. read more

We hired West Coast Solar to install rooftop solar and a powerwall. We did a lot of research over the course of months and obtained multiple quotes from other vendors (including Tesla). WCS offered by far the best intersection of price, customer service, and system design (including the most optimal placement of our powerwall, inside the garage). From start to finish, WCS made it a seamless and easy process; they were professional, communicative, and delivered everything they said they would on the timeline they promised. They even painted the electrical conduits to match the house! Overall, we could not be more pleased. We did run into some issues with our inverter failing however, that is simply an anomaly and West Coast solar sent out the same technician who installed the system to replace the inverter free of charge. I am updating my previous review as almost immediately after I posted it, I was contacted by West Coast to schedule for a tech to come out and investigate the issue. The tech came that same week and fixed the issue within minutes. System has been back up and running smoothly since, which is awesome. I'm still only leaving my rating at 3 stars (which honestly i think is being pretty generous) because while yes my issue has been addressed, it's a little ridiculous that it took leaving a bad review to actually get some help. Not to mention the $1200 we are still out in PG&E costs because our system was inoperable for 3 months, which literally could have been resolved by a tech in minutes had someone actually returned a call or answered the service ticket that was created but never dealt with until I left the negative review. I was in a panic when I found out our solar installer had gone out of business and our inverter died - West Coast Solar to the rescue! Christina sent out a technician and worked with SolarEdge to replace my inverter under warranty. The labor costs were extremely reasonable compared to having to do it all myself. They followed up when the inverter was sent to them and just finished replacing it. We had solar installed in 2020. The installation process went well. Over the past year we've had issues with some of the hardware (which happens), but there was a lack of communication within the company about the issue, repairmen showed up without any idea what the previous person did, the office wouldn't return calls in a reasonable time frame (if at all). Things took longer than they should have, and we had to be the ones pushing for things to get done. Now we need a new roof, and are being quoted 4 times the price for removal and re-installation of the panels from WCS. WCS has repeatedly over promised and under delivered. Established customers seem like a nuisance to them. I would say stay away from this company. read more

Our previous solar installer has stopped responding so I reached out to West Coast Solar and Christina responded quick! They handle Solar Edge system repairs so if you have a Solar Edge inverter then they'll take care of you. They'll start the warranty process and everything. Clifford did the install and he found out there were code violations made by the previous installer. He didn't have to but he moved our inverter to the proper location. Now we are back generating and also have the peace of mind that everything is where it should which the insurance people would like in case something happens. We purchased our solar panels a couple of years ago we got them not only for the environment but as an upfront investment for long term savings on our energy bill. One of the reasons we chose West Coast Solar was the promise that if the panels malfuntioned and was not producing power West Coast would notify us so that it would be fixed and we would resume making power quickly. Last summer, a fuse went out in our inverter. We were not notified. When we got our true up bill in January we had a $2000 bill, our panels had not been making power for 5-6 months. Once we found out we called west coast to come find the problem and make the repair. The first tech came out and said he didn't have the right fuse to replace the one that wasn't working. He never followed up with an new appt or part. We called back to ask what happened, they said their next appointment was a week out. Disappointing but we were about the solution and booked it. Today is the day, the Tech shows up looks at the inverter, again doesnt' have the part to correct the problem. I have called 3 phone numbers I now have on file for the service dept and the general manager and none of them answer the phone. It is 3:30 on a Thursday. How is it that there is no one answering phones? Bad Communication, bad service, super incompetent. read more

I have a West Coast Solar system installed on my house. Historically they would call me and let me know if there was an issue with the system's power production. Apparently my system went offline a while ago and I'm now in the hole with PGE for $3k for a true up bill, unbeknownst to me. I tried calling WCS for three days and got either voicemail or ahold of the "wrong person" who would transfer me back to the lines that brought me to voicemail. No response to my online service requests either. I contacted a competitor who was familiar with WCS and somehow lit a fire, and magically WCS called me back. We scheduled an appointment, for 2 weeks out (a long time when it's 110* in July). Along came the date and time of the service. Nobody showed. I called Nina at WCS to see where the tech was. She tells me he called in sick. Apparently they don't let you know when they have to cancel their service. What a mess this has been. Glad I took a day off work to be available for the no show. It's been "priority" rescheduled. Maybe I'll give more stars if this is appropriately rectified. read more

Our home is in Woodland, CA (Yolo county) and we began by contacting RepowerYolo in Davis, CA where I worked with Chris, John and Harry on our needs and goals. Once everything was decided, they worked directly with West Coast Solar to handle the installation and setup of the panels and batteries. It was a seamless communication between all of us, and every question was answered promptly, accurately and with sincerity, up to and including the two day installation which concluded this afternoon. Everything has been tested and working like a charm and we're waiting for final sign off from PGE and the city.
