I actually witnessed one of the worst possible things I've ever seen in the Solar business with what suntricity did to my good friend. I have been in the Solar business myself for about eight years now, I have helped hundreds of people go Solar..
1. they charged my who lives in LADWP $50,000 for 22 panels. The amount of energy that produces is higher the highest rate in 2026 that DWP charges. Keep in mind this back in 2022 when rates were about 1/3 less than they are now.
2. he came to me for help because his electric bill was still $500 a month. This was after they told him he would no longer have an electric bill.
3. I had a friend of mine go to see if any steps were taken to legally get the system turned on.
This is what I found out.
There was a permit that was pulled in 2022 and then expired.
There was no interconnection agreement even put in for review.
Esr (dwp) never even had preconstruction plans to put onto the permit to even start installation.
LA building and safety was never completed meaning there was no LA building and safety inspection.
LA building and safety has to release the project for it to move to the next stage.
Esr never installed a meter to back fee d the grid from the solar that was installed.
This company illegally turned the system on without any of these inspections being done.
PTO (permission to operate) was never granted by P.
He was totally ripped off, charged at least double of what the system actually cost, and are still lying to his face saying that they did everything properly. I have all the proof that they did none of these steps. They got away with this because he was a cash , if any finances were involved, they would have had to finish the process just any other Company would do. In my eight years, this is one of the I've ever seen to somebody. If they are capable of this, God knows what else they are doing to other clients.
Please see the picture below that shows nothing was completed.. The only thing it shows is the solar company I work with trying to help them with the issue. You can see at the top interconnection agreement 2026. 22041-10000-01143. That number I just put is the permit number on public record that was pulled in 2022 and expired. I'm pretty sure anybody can find out that looks up that permit number that it was pulled and expired. Obviously it expired because they never finished the work. read more
