Reserved room via app. Arrived and waited about 9 minutes for someone to come back to the front desk. No big deal, as it's near impossible to get people to work now a days. Easy check in, parking lot is cramped in the back and was a tight fit for a full size 3500 dually. Hallway smelled of cigarettes. Room was efficient, and clean other than the stained cover on the bed. One of the tiniest toilets I have ever seen. Good AC, quiet room, great tv. Well lit parking lot. Very nice over all.

    Bed bug. Disgusting stains!

The front desk staff were really friendly and kind. They told me there was a pool I could use, which was really funny considering the negative temperatures. I believe it is now a Wingate.

This location has been sold to someone else. (Don't remember who). So no one is really "fixing"…read moreanything quite yet. So if outdated & warn bother you this currently is not the place for you. With that in mind, the staff here is amazing. From the front desk, to housekeeping I have not met an employee yet that hasn't been amazing. I've been here for two weeks and everyone is just great. If I've had issue with something (because it is an older hotel waiting for a facelift) the staff has been amazing and fixed whatever the issue was. You can have the nicest, newest hotel and if the staff is like talking to a lazy, rude paper weight who is not helpful it ruins the whole experience. No matter what changes in the hotel keep the staff. Give them a raise and tell them how amazing they are doing because without them you'd just be another chain hotel no one remembers or cares to come back too when in your area. Being away from home for so long is tough, but friendly faces whenever you leave your room I great. No one wants to talk to "Karen" who can't be bothered cuz it's not her problem. I was able to do my laundry there even in the dated machines. Success. Clothes went in dirty and came our clean. Cooked in the microwave from 1996 and it tasted just as good. Questioned if it was going to explode or give me a tumor from radioactive waves by the sound of it... but so far so good. Nice flat screen TV I was able to hook my Roku to but had to use my hotspot as the Wifi wasn't strong/fast enough. Also worked out. Large well lit parking lot for safety for you & your vehicle so you don't have to worry about getting lost in the darkness. McDonalds right across the street if your 1996 microwave can't cut it and you become really desperate. Warm breakfast each morning. Some kind of meat (sausage, bacon etc) eggs. There has been other thing also. Ice is only on the second floor but let's face it, I'm sure you could use the steps. (Like health wise... elevator works fine). Venting machine on the first floor for all your usual overpriced last minutes impulse snack needs like all hotels. I had a room with a jacuzzi tub that yes was dated and warm. Tub is warm & HUGE! I could fit me and 3 of my favorite Guns & Roses band members in it. I didn't try the jets but it rocked all the same. I needed to make a few modifications to my room for my service K9 and they were super helpf! If you value staff experience over newest and fanciest, this is for you. Tell them Jane sent you.

Not bad. Worth a stop & reviews are far better than the cheaper motels... Motel 6 & Super 8, which…read moreare always hit or miss... they're either great or deplorable... little in the middle, in my experience. Pros: * Front desk staff. The woman who checked me in at 3-4pm on 10-2-19 was very professional & accommodating. I showed her a $90 rate on Hotels .com & she said she could get me a better rate & would even take my AAA discount. It was about $20 less... awesome. She also investigated into my 2-mo old Choice Hotel membership, which isn't working when I try to make reservations (it tells me it doesn't exist) & found out I have 3 accounts... so she gave me the 800# to have them consolidate the accounts... she couldn't do it from her end & was trying to ensure that I get all my rewards. Very nice to have gone above & beyond... I've been at 10 Choice Hotels over the past 2-mos & no one offered the same (they'd shrug when I told them I had an account & couldn't access it)... she even gave me a temporary membership card, which no one else had done. She left a very good impression. Since she also noticed that I had a headache, she said they were painting in the bldg & if it bothered me, I could change my room. Excellent customer service. * Very comfy mattress, sunny spacious room, brand new fridge & m/w (Rm #117), coffee pot, 2 full length mirrors, plenty of bright lights & outlets, alarm clock, tons of towels, tissues & some toiletries. * Hot breakfast 6-9am. Lobby coffee/tea 24/7. * Very quiet... the walls must be made of solid steel. My room was right in front of the side entrance & I didn't hear anyone coming or going. This is just 1 of the reasons it's sometimes far better to pay an extra $10-20 for a bump up in hotel quality. * Nice pool/hottub in the lobby that no one uses... it's almost long enough to do laps & a fitness center on the 2nd floor... both open 10am-10pm. There's also a 24/7 guest laundry, although I didn't use it. * Tons of cable stations, including all HBO. Huge flatscreen TV. * Wendy's next door... it is walkable, but they open late... 10am-midnight. A 24/7 McD's is on the same road. 24/7 WalMart across the street. You could also walk, but the store is about 1/2-mi from the entrance, so if carrying heavy items, I'd drive. Cons: * Nothing really. Hotel's a little outdated, but nothing egregious. * On the side of the bldg, a handful of parking spaces back out into each other, should a longer truck/car be parked perpendicular to yours & spaces aren't very wide... something to look out for if leaving very early am... you may want to park a bit further away to ensure you're not trapped... although the front desk does take car info so could call a guest should you be leaving early am hours & be blocked in. The back of the bldg has plenty of room & that's where the longer vehicles & trucks park. * They are painting some of the rooms (which is good, I'm all for updates) & although that horrid smell is noticeable in the hallway, it isn't in the room. All around a good stay. I stayed over an extra day as I was on the road & not feeling well. It was a nice rest. 4* out of 6.

This place books up so you better plan ahead!…read more We booked this place a few weeks ahead of our trip and luckily had a room for two nights instead of the three over labor day weekend, but our fault for not planning ahead! The ROOMS We stayed in the Stables, in a room with two queens, we just ended up pushing them together in the middle of the room, which worked fine! The room itself is huge, nice big bathroom as well, with a big jacuzzi tub, so that's fun! The decor is nice and nicely diplayed. TV could be bigger to fill the wall, but is a fine size and we didn't really come to stay in the room & watch TV much anyways. I like the thoughtfulness of the two mini dasani waters in the mini fridge! That is super helpful bc the faucet water tastes very earthy. Not enough outlets, I will say that much. Need a power strip or something b/c the outlets near the beds are just kinda far from the bed and the outlets closer are used by the bedside lamps. So just kinda an inconvenience, but not a big deal. The TV and coffee maker also can't both be plugged in a the same time, so again, not enough outets it seems. The TV itself ... needs replaced. For the love of technology that thing is ancient! The remote didn't work well at all, it was the kind that has a million buttons and you have to figure out which buttons turn on the TV and which buttons turn on the actual service that allows you to watch the TV lol oh sheesh. Plus YOU CAN'T STREAM! We had to use our laptop to watch what we wanted to b/c the TV said it needed an ethernet cable to get hooked up to internet. So I did feel like I was at my grandmas house in terms of the TV technology, watching dish available programs like NCIS and the Drew Barymoore show.. -___- This was my actual one main gripe about the room and stay itself. Like the bathroom mini toiletries available. They def seem high quality, so that's nice! Like that the room comes with mini travel size shampoo, conditioner, lotion and a few makeup remover wipes as well as has larger size shampoo, conditioner and body wash attached to the shower wall. The towels could use some fabric softener, they were definitely stiff and rough. Toilet paper was angel soft, so that could be higher quality. Very rough. So it seems like some little details are thought of while others might be overlooked. The Stables themselves are in a quite good location actually, I do prefer how it is a bit away from everything and has super cute little seating area with string lights behind the building! WITH a little walking trail that circles around and up to the pool house. The CASTLE The Castle itself is super cute, I love how there's tons of paved walkways around the entire grounds. LOTS of beautiful plants and flower beds all around the grounds. The aesthetic is just beautiful. The lobby has coffee, tea, snacks and drinks for sale as well as some small nick nacks and toys as well. I DEF took advantage of their reasonably priced mini wines and sodas to grab for the room. AMENITIES Great amentiites, not too much not too little. Not too many amenities to make it a kid-palooza, which keeps it nice and quiet at pretty much all hours. We were here on a Labor Day weekend and it seems like everyone gets out and about to go hiking and do other things throughout the day time. We chose to stay on the castle grounds the entire stay, which was nice to not have to drive anywhere. Love that there's pickle ball courts, lots of paved walkways to get some exercise, nothing is tooooo far away from each other to feel like an actual workout lol. I love that there's a pool and hot tub on site for all cabin use. The mercantile shop attached to the grill is a nice touch! Also love that they sell lots of quirky nick nacks + local beers in single cans + the local wine as well! Maybe if there were just like one or two more little things to do on the grounds it would be perfect for those that really don't want to have to drive anywhere once on site. Maybe a few oversized yard cames somewhere, a lawn chess or ... some other little things to keep the castle dwellers occupied in the quiet time on the grounds. The Copper Mug itself was really awesome, so they'll get an extravagant review separately! But very happy with them, especially as the only restaurant available on site and most likely the best thing within anything close to a short driving distance. Overall Great stay! Few recommendations for little upgrades, just to put the cherry on top of the "luxury" adjective used in the description. Overall great place to stay, we will be back in the future to stay in the castle itself!

The person working the front desk was friendly and looked like she was doing 3 jobs at once. The bartender was fast efficient and made great cocktails. Some of our concerns go to more managerial issues. As an example, the heat in our room did not work and our room was as cold as the outside. Being middle of January we were literally sitting in our rooms in hats, gloves and coats. The staff did bring up some space heaters to help raise the temperature, which eventually worked. The wine pairing dinner we attended was just ok, but at 70 dollars a person I would expect more than using small plastic cups for the pairings. The food itself was really good, so my compliments to the chef. If the room price was more reasonable and not 450 per night I would be less critical. The cost just didn't match the expectation

UPDATE I paid $475 for another week from August 16th to August 23rd and on August the 19th I was showering early in the morning I decided to shave and when I turned on the sink water all of a sudden the valve below broke and started shooting water everywhere the water pressure was so hard it would almost shoot all the way to the door I used my fingert plug the hole to keep it from flooding the whole place I called the front desk and he came down and then called the manager when the manager walked in the door he told me to pack my s*** and get out I said what do you mean I didn't do anything all I did was turn the water on he said no there's no way that that would break unless you touched it I said sir I did not touch it I have no reason to lie to you I have no reason to deliberately break something in here so anyways he ended up fixing it he didn't help clean the room at all he didn't even get me extra towels I cleaned the whole thing up with the towels the best that I could and they must not have mop too much because the towels were almost black from the dirt on the floor anyways the manager left I laid back down I had been awake all night and then a phone call came through on the hotel phone and he told me I had to check out by 11:00 and that he would refund me the remaining days at this point I was agitated with this guy and I just decided to leave I went out front to get the refund receipt and it was only for $133 not $339 like it was supposed to be I asked him why is this not what it should be he said cuz you broke that valve I said sir I did not break the valve he said well you're not getting anymore my mom picked me up and I was so upset because I lost $339 she went in and tried to talk to him and he was so rude to her saying he broke that on purpose I had no reason to break it on purpose he then followed us out to the car and continue to yell at us I continue to tell him sir I did not break that when I turn the water on all of a sudden it just started squirting out down there I tried to stop at the best that I could and call you right away I just want to get a refund for my $339 I tried to call corporate and they said you have to talk to the manager I can't talk to him cuz he's a problem I asked them for a number of his supervisor they said we don't know that I'm completely disgusted I've never been treated so badly and I've never had this at a motel 6 before. I also told him that every time somebody flushes the toilet or showers upstairs water comes out to smoke detector. This place has a lot of maintenance issues and is run down none of the vending machines work I put a dollar in the pop machine and it goes to dispense but there's no pop in it and then I try to get my money back or get a pop and the management gives me an issue about that I understand they want to make money but ripping off their customers it's not a good way to do it anyways if corporate sees this I just want to get my $339 back. For anyone else avoid this motel at all costs go to the Ashland and the Surrey in the Wingate the Hampton or the quality inn before you even consider this hotel
