I was actually just stopping in Bedford on my way to Pittsburgh. I enjoyed my one night stay so much I stopped again on the way back. Now keep in mind this is an older motel so if you're the Marriott type this isn't for you. If you like to support small businesses and you're looking for a place with old school charm this is it.

The inn itself has a long history as does the area around it (I had no idea that there were so many fort-lets from the French and Indian War and ties w/a younger George Washington there) that there's a lot to see and read up on. The owners have a lot of pride and passion for the inn and it shows in all the pictures they have of the restoration of the structure and the publications of the area and the property it's on and in the conversations we had! Oh wait, there WAS no sun on my trip... dang PA Rain! But still, the shades were awesome! NASA must have made them. Motel 30 was open and had positive recommendations from other local hoteliers who were closed for the season. The rooms are very simple and spare. A bed, a dresser, a shelf, a small TV and air conditioner/heater and a small bathroom with shower and sink. The furnishings were vintage which had a nice funky charm. Not the most up-to-date furnishings, but everything was in very good condition. It looked like only ours and one other room was occupied, and the owners left a tiny vase of fresh carnations out which was a nice touch. Above all, though, it was absolutely fastidiously CLEAN, which is really all we cared about. And the price was hands-down the cheapest I've ever had a hotel room for. The owners couldn't have been friendlier or more flexible about our odd arrival particulars. So clean rooms with everything you need and nothing you don't with real, personalized hospitality at a bargain price. Would definitely stay here again!

Took the chance and called motel 30 to find out if they had a room and what the rates were. Sue one of the owners very helpfull had a room ready for us when we arrived and it was very clean and had a small thing of carnations sitting on the dresser(what a nice touch). Its not your big chain motel very small very homey. If you want all the newest go somewhere else if you want a nice room at a great price and great owners stay at motel 30. You will not find anything fancy here, but you will find a clean room where -- as another reviewer noted -- everything works. Plus, you won't be spending over $100 on something soulless and generic (hello, Hampton Inn -- I'm looking at you). Furthermore, the staff is great. Particular kudos to Donna, who helped my traveling companion out with a difficult situation. These people are friendly, professional and real. To me, that is easily worth 5 stars. I will keep this place in mind if I ever pass through the area again.
