What a dump. Small lumpy pillows, stains on sheets and walls, cigarette burns in comforter, vinyl chair with rips, desk looks like a middle-school detention-hall reject. Random black scuff marks on wall, black mold on caulking around AC unit. Dead cockroach behind broken TV The staff: RUDE and dismissive. The lobby TV is on too loud to hear through bullet proof glass. Staff behind desk ignored my wife for 5 minutes , no people skills. They refused to check us in until after 3:01pm without charging us a $30 early check in fee. Overall, the room was disgusting. We paid over $400 to nights and we only stayed in room 25 minutes. Luckily, when we came out to lobby to ask for refund, there was a line of people and as soon as I started mentioning about the cock roaches, we received a full refund - though he insisted the room was just "professionally cleaned," yesterday. I think our pictures tell an accurate tale. If you're nostalgic for a 1970's inner city YMCA room, with a Department of Motor Vehicles vibe, then this place is for you. My wife and I prefer to stay where we feel it's safe to bring in our luggage. We are already gearing up for the fight when they try to charge us for the room. My husband booked a room here but clearly did not read the reviews. It was held but not prepaid. When we arrived the attendant informed us the hotel was overbooked. For $100 cash he said he could get us a room. We were booked for a room for $125, clearly they are avoiding the 3rd party commission/fees. We did not have cash but we did have the CC we used to make the reservation. He would not accept that form of payment and advised us that we could walk across the road to use an atm to get the cash. The lobby and grounds are not maintained. The desk was not staffed, there was a note to call a number which we did 3x but no answer. All hotels were sold out because of a U of M football game. Rather than deal with this place we drove and found another hotel, which is what I recommend you do. Book with another reputable hotel. Traveling is tiring enough, this experience was exhausting. Most unprofessional and rudest people I have ever met. If there was less than 1 star, I would be handing it out right now. I had called corporate to schedule a room but since I'm 18 I had to go through this whole process, by the end of it she said I was able to stay there and check in. Not mentioning I would have to be an additional 150$ since I'm 18. They had took money out of my account without me even trying to check in. When we arrived, we were supposed to have a king bed and after about 20 minutes at the front desk the clerk gave us a key to a room that someone was already in. Needless to say he put us in another room with two queens. The ceiling in the bathroom had been horribly patched after a water leak. At sometime, a child drew on the walls in the room we were in because it was still on the walls. The hotel states that it's non smoking but smelled of smoke everyday. The breakfast was really non existent. We asked for more coffee to be made at 9:00 and was told that breakfast was over which I guess meant no more coffee because he didn't make anymore. The customer service was the absolute worst I have ever experienced at any hotel that I've ever been to. This hotel should not be allowed to be on any reputable travel site. read more

We lost power in our home so we needed somewhere just to sleep and stay cool on a warm summer night. Everything about this hotel is gross. When we checked in they made us sign a no smoking inside our room or the hotel. When we got in the elevator it smelled like someone had just got done smoking a joint. Then when we got off the elevator the hallway smelled like cigarette smoke. Then upon entering the room, I told my husband absolutely not. I would not stay in a dirty smelly hotel. The room looked dirty and everything in it was old and out dated. I would rather go back home and sleep in a hot house with no power. We were only there 10 minutes 15 minutes max and I felt the need to come home and take a shower. So much for people signing the no smoking policy. What can I say? Worst Hotel, possibly ever, which says a lot considering my passport stamps and that I worked in hotel management in Spain, Italy, Canada, US, Argentina and Iceland! 1. Check in on FRIDAY - photocopied i.d., nice guy but WHERE DID HE GO? HE LEFT US WITH INSANITY AND HORRIBLE STAFF. 2. The hotel is being used as temporary housing or permanent housing for homeless or ill people ... some were fine but one threatened me over my "WOWZA" comment at Trump gesticulating on the T.V. on CNN while eating breakfast. They told me to go back to Canada which definitely meant that they knew what car was ours (hell people asked about our life in Niagara Falls ... how did they know we lived there unless someone told them or that they were watching us check in? 3. Ok, breakfast ---6 to 9 am even on a weekend? And it was picked CLEAN by 7am undoubtedly by residents who were using said food for other meals. 4. MDHHS needs to look into the elevator --- there are people in there who are sick and the elevator THUNKS AND DROPS whenever it starts ... scary AF. Asked the girl in the front desk about it she told me to take the stairs. 5. We were there for two nights - two separate bookings as we decided last minute to book another night as the hotel is bound to be cooler than my apt. |The nice man who checked us in FRIDAY said no problem we don't have to check in and out and he took care of it...yet housekeeping was pounding on our door at 11.01 in the morning to tell us we were LATE CHECKING OUT. (I guess a do not disturb sign means pound the crap out of the door! No wonder we left it up and didn't let her refresh/clean the room as I had had it with her attitude. Hubby went down and checked us out and in ... she wanted another $50 hold in the credit card (we refused as the hold being put on in USD/CAD exchange "buying" rate vs. being refunded at a "selling rate" means we lose $4 or $5 bucks every time with the buying vs. selling rate.) Hubby had to come upstairs to get MY DRIVER'S LICENCE as she wanted both of ours. Trust issues we wondered??? ... no wonder in that hotel. 6. I am not saying that homeless people are "bad" but when you look out your hotel window and you see a man with a cart looking in your back seat for stuff and have to chase him off you can wonder ... frankly we would have changed hotels after the first night but we HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE SECOND NIGHT. 7. I know that there is no smoking inside but outside the hotel most of the residents are smoking 24/7 and it reeks in the intake pipe of the a/c. Also makes hotel looks scary as hell when you have to maneuver through them and they look at you like who TF are you? 8. Key card worked - thank God as we didn't want to go on that elevator too much. (Oh, BTW, when I told the girl at the front desk about the elevator she told me to take the stairs ... same girl who cleaned up breakfast all while continuing a personal phone call on her cell that we were all listening to while in the breakfast area!) 9. Bathroom - no towel racks (it would have been nice) - walls were peeling off beside the tub and there was mould everywhere around the edges of the tub "insert". Fan only worked occasionally. 10. Bed - sheets would not stay on it. There was a "dip" in the middle of the mattress that if you slept together you would end up like two people trying to sleep in a canoe. Not a hotel bed that I want to see again. 11. The desk was 18 inches in height above the chair ... not exactly conducive to use if you were on a business trip (or someone like me who has to check emails from work while away) 12. The TV had less than 20 channels --- a "Madea" Movie," The Firm", and "Meet Joe Black" were on rotation 24/7 on three of those channels which was fine as the remote didn't really work anyway. 13. Don't advertise an in-room safe if it needs a key (with a $$$ deposit) and it isn't big enough for a laptop as that is what most "normal" guests would want 14. The free Wi-Fi was worth the price ... it kept disconnecting over and over. 15. No discernable handicapped parking (yes for veteran's). I have a sticker/pass ... 16. The lovely lady across the hall from us was in an accessible room but there was no button to open and close the door. ***ADA *** needs to know this...that and about the parking spot not being there OR no discernable buttons to get the front door open and shut. We are coming to the same area in December ... we have NOT BOOKED AT A SUPER 8 --- in fact we probably will NEVER BOOK AT A SUPER 8 AGAIN as across the chain they are HORRIBLE. read more

Never used help ! I made this account just to express my pain and disgust ! The guy I spoke with on arrival - great guy, the hotel doesn't deserve him! The rest of the staff is always grumpy - from cleaners to manager not concerned about welfare of both staff and customers causing chaos ! Get ready to have the "breakfast" with visitors from different homes who use it as their "IHOP". My worse experience - I had an expired yoghurt ! After 2 spoons I decided to look at the yoghurt - EXPIRED ! Told the front desk - came out the next day the same exact set of yogurts were sitting in the ice ! Had a stomach upset but I'm glad it isn't that serious. I had to complain 3 times for the to change it ! Next pain - they don't clean ! Or even remove your sheet ! It's such an uncomfortable place ! If I could give it zero I would. Don't believe the 5 star reviews- they are clearly planted. Issue 1: We reserved a week out for 1 room with a king size bed. When we arrived they said they were going to put us in a room with two queen beds because no rooms with a king size bed were ready. I said we would prefer the king bed and that we could just wait. Three minutes later it was ready, but with no towels. We said fine, just bring us the towels when they were ready. Issue 2: The towels. As mentioned in issue 1, there were no towels in the room. So after going away for the evening, we go to the front desk to ask for towels. The lady there goes and grabs some, but they were only hand towels. I asked if there were any bath size towels, to which she said there were none because they were all in the wash. Thus, my husband had to dry off with the three hand towels we were given, and I didn't even bother taking a shower. What hotel doesn't have extra bath towels? Issue 3: The bed is rock hard. Seriously. I felt like we were just sleeping on a box-spring rather than a real mattress. Our bodies were in some serious pain in the morning from having slept on that bed. There were also minimal covers. Issue 4: The internet maybe worked for 5 minutes, and when it did work for those 5 minutes it was slow. We were up there for a house hunting trip and needed access to the internet, but were not able to use it. This meant we had to go to a different place (ended up using Starbucks) to use the internet and get what we needed to get done. Issue 5: Breakfast. There just wasn't much for breakfast. Waffle, toast, cereal, and yogurt. Hardly the continental breakfast they promise on the website. Issue 6: This isn't necessarily their fault, but we did smell pot smoke in our bathroom in the evening. All hotels in Michigan are non-smoking, and they tell you that, but they didn't do anything to stop it. When we told them they mostly shrugged their shoulders. Also smelled cigaret smoke in the hallway, so I don't know what that was about. The only nice thing is that the people at the front desk were kind. But that's about it. I would never wish this upon someone. I was skeptical when booking for the 5 days because it was so cheap, but there were enough good reviews that I thought I would give it a go. I didn't like just about anything about this hotel. The internet sucked, I had to buy a hotspot for my phone in order to even watch netflix on my laptop. We found a bug in the bed. The fridge barely worked. The last nail in the coffin was that I left my laptop in the room and I had to go up to the hotel 3 times, the last time with the police. Nightmare in Belleville! I would subtract 5 stars! !Do not stay here! I started this yelp acct just to be able to note my disgust!!! So disappointed, a booking through hotels.com said this was a 3 star hotel and I wouldn't give it 1. The lobby is tiny and there were ppl that looked crazy or homeless hanging out. Turns out one of those ppl worked behind the desk somewhere and was walking around behind the counter when not slumped over in the lobby chair. Stinks, the hall and lobby smelled, then we came to the non smoking room that smelled like smoke. Do not let the fitted sheet come off of the mattress because the stains are disgusting! !Our room heater stopped working on the 1st night. Our room microwave never worked. When we Asked for another pillow, because they had 3 small pillows spread across a king size bed, they became suspicious that we might have an extra guest hiding somewhere. There were stains on the bed cover and carpet. We ended up using the bedcover as a rug so we didn't have to walk with our bare feet or socks on the gross floor. Only 2 exits to use, both right in the front just in case you try to sneak someone in. We stuck it out 2 nights but booked a new hotel for our Lastnight even if we had to pay again! ! I like to refer to this place as the Not so Super-Super 8. Since the last time I stayed there last year, there has been bulletproof glass installed in the lobby. There are a lot of people that hang out in the front and smoke. The butts are everywhere. It's shabby. Marijuana smoking in the rooms. The sprinklers in my room were covered with cups to keep them from activating I assume. AND the housekeeping is lax. I love the price, but the management is catering to the lowest common denominator now. There are even people that appear to be living there as evidenced by the gallon jugs of laundry detergent in various windows. It's really a shame because it's in a great location. I don't feel particularly unsafe here, ....just not being maintained enough to stay again and it appears to be on a downward slide. read more

I booked a room over the phone, when I arrived at this location I was told that did not have a room for me. I asked for the manager and a Ken Patel came up to the bullet proof glass. Immediately he told me that he "did not have time for this" when I expressed my frustration of booking a room, having a reservation number only to find out there is no room. When I told him that he needs to make time for this, he told me "not my problem". I couldn't believe that this was coming from the "manager". Not even an apology or explanation. When I asked for his bosses name and number, he could not provide it for me and told me to call the 800 number. I again asked for a name and he told me that a different person answers the phone each time. (?) I would not recommend this hotel. I have usually stayed on the other side of the freeway when visiting this area, but I decided to save a few dollars on this trip and stayed here for the first time. And for the last time, too. This place feels shady - and they assume their guests are going to be shady too. How else do you explain the bullet proof glass in the lobby (which the other hotels in the area don't find necessary)? There were stains on the sheets. The pillows were tiny and didn't even cover the width of the bed. I noticed that the hotel illegally requires guests to produce a certificate before allowing a service dog - I plan to inform appropriate authorizes about that (there's no such certificate authorized by the American's with Disabilities Act though anyone can buy a fake certificate on the internet). If it hadn't been so late and I had to get some sleep before a relative's funeral the next day, I would have found another hotel. I encourage you to find another hotel. read more
