The rooms were dirty, the bedding has been used for a very very long time, the smell throughout the building and room smelled musty. Outside smelled like human feces. Breakfast area was sticky and dirty. The food served was stale and outdated. The pancake batter was so watered down that we decided not to eat a single thing. We've stayed at quite a few hotels & motels but this one is by far one of the dirtiest. I did a very light swipe over the side table with a wipe and it came back filthy. Only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the mattress was actually comfortable. Besides that, get it, we all need somewhere quick and cheap to stay sometimes but if you have the extra $30, stay elsewhere. read more

We had stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago when my nephew got married, it's close to the in-laws so we made a reservation for the weekend before Christmas. It is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in some bad ones). The entire hotel stinks, literally, not sure what it was but it was in the lobby and hallways with a lingering smell in the rooms. Breakfast was minimal- the waffle batter was so watery it did not even cook. When we went to drop the room card off and get a copy of the bill no one answered the bell. With the poor 2 star rating , we were a little apprehensive, but this isnt as bad as a couple of the reviews say ,they were done a couple years ago and thing look like they have changed.The staff that we talked to were very pleasant, the room was clean and well stocked with towels and assorted soaps, the bathroom was clean, our carpet was stained, not bad and the breakfast was lacking, but other than that we had a nice night. read more

Our reservation was screwed up through the hotels in Sioux Falls and we were unable to locate the room and forced to drive without sleep with no rooms available throughout the I 29 AND I 90 corridor. Once I got home I found out I was transferred from a Sioux Falls location to this one which I never asked for in another town SOUTH of Sioux Falls.The man on the phone spoke very crude english at the time we made the reservation so anything he gave as info was not understood and he offered no means of sending the confirmation number electronically, just kept reading it to us over and over! We had NO CLUE the room was in Beresford since we called a Sioux Falls location. Sioux Falls could not find any record of our reservation when we showed up and told us we never had one. NOW I called Beresford after getting home and finding TWO pre authorizations on my account and again I got the same hard to understand man. I did understand this though... "No Show Fee, You NOT get your money back! Shady, Crooked, Rude, and in the end he will NOT GET MY MONEY! DO NOT RISK IT! THIS PLACE IS RUN BY A CROOK! read more

Not a good experience. There was mold in the bathroom. The light switch plates were filthy, as was the wall around them. The carpet was stained and worn. Most of the towels had stains. The bed linen was almost gauze-like it was so worn. It was sort of creepy being rundown, nobody around, empty vending machines, no services - all kinds of signs of wear and neglect. I booked this motel room directly because I wanted to make sure they actually had the pool shown in the pictures. Three years ago, I stayed in this motel with my extended family. There were 8 kids ready to swim, but we were told the owner was working on the pool. The pool was not functional on that stay. We had very disappointed kids cooped up in rooms. On Easter Day of 2017, I called to book a room for my family, also knowing my extended family would also be booking a room. We were in town for our niece's graduation. When I called, I talked to who I believe was the owner's wife. She was difficult to understand, but she assured me they did have a pool. She was right, there is physically a pool on site. I told my kid they would be able to swim this time. When we checked in, the door to the pool was covered. The hallway leading to the pool stunk of mold/mildew. My sister-in-law was told again, the owner was working on the pool. When I told the lady that I called on Easter to be assured they had a pool for the kids to swim, the receptionist lady told me the owner and her were the only ones that answered the phone. I explained the lady that I talked to on Easter wasn't her. This lady had an Indian accent (from India). I was right, the receptionist lady had Easter off. It had to be the owner's wife. I told the receptionist lady that it was false advertising and I should contact the Better Business Bureau or local Chamber of Commerce. She told me to do what I needed to do. No apologies. Just the "I just work here and don't give a ....how put out you are attitude." THERE IS NOT A FUNCTIONING POOL AND THEY DON'T CARE IF THEY MISLEAD YOU IN BOOKING THIS ROOM! Unlucky for us, it was rainy and cold and the kids were cooped up once again inside the rooms. The breakfast is not worth the extra $30/night compared to the comfort of the Crossroads Motel right across the street. The Crossroads Motel is clean, easy to communicate with, and locally recommended. There is a Burger King across the street to eat, or Emily's Restaurant. The bathroom shower nozzle was pulled out of the wall, mildew in the shower, and the lights buzzed very loudly.Not worth $93/night. My brother told the owner at breakfast that he was out of waffle mix. The owner didn't care enough about the 10 people that were there after us wanting waffles. He never made more mix, so you were left with oatmeal, cereal, hard mini powdered donuts or toast with cold butter. read more

If I could rate it a zero star I would. 100% completely awful, disgusting, smelly motel I've ever stayed in. I didn't even sleep in the beds with all the stains on the sheets and the mattress itself. They also have a problem with bed bugs. I found this out LATER from a reliable source that works for the Orkin Man. How can they even stay open? It's beyond me. Not to mention the service was a big zero as well. The man could not speak english. He was using gestures to communicate with us when we checked in, and has the nerve to get pissy and annoyed with US!! because we didn't know WHAT in the world he was trying to say. He was rude to my daughter in the morning when she asked about breakfast and sent her back to her room until he had it ready. Not sure if it was same guy from the night before but he told her he would call her when it was ready. THE NERVE OF THEM! Do NOT ever stay here. Your better off sleeping next door at the crossroads motel or in your car.. The people that run this place also run truck town. That's expensive but alot more pleasant environment. Good grief. Well, I have been here at this super 8 a month so far. I have not yet tipped the house cleaning person and still, the service has been top notch. The staff has been very nice and I have called for a couple of things. The chair that was in the room broke. They brought an office chair (very comfy) and the fridge was freezing everything. They replaced it with a brand new fridge with a freezer. I work nights so they can only clean the room a couple times a week (I do keep it clean because I cook in the room). The breakfast bar is the down side; waffles and pastries and sometimes cereal that's about it. It is the most pathetic breakfast bar I have ever seen but, there is a truck stop a mile away and outside of the there service for me has been five star. The laundry, is on one washer and dryer on second floor. I do mine at 2am so there hasn't been any issues for me. I have received a couple of packages here and that was no issue either. read more

This is my favorite cheap motel in the country! Super clean. Super courteous staff. Always interesting folks staying over. Anytime I'm headed out West, I spend the night here in Beresford. The waffle maker for breakfast is awesome! read more

The WORST HOTEL STAFF EVER! Stay across the street at the Crossroads Motel. Booked on Expedia, checked in and the owner 'Patel's wife was at the desk. She didn't know how to check me in and had to call her husband on the phone. After 5 minutes of non English communication she handed me the keys while still chattering on the phone. At 11:10 am the next morning someone came pounding on the door like a SWAT team was about to enter. It was a cleaning lady who yelled at me when I opened the door and said GET OUT! It's after 11! GET OUT! Now I'm 61 and my 90 lb 81 year old mom uses a walker. We were just zipping up our bags to leave when she came banging on the door. I told her we'd leave the hotel within 5 minutes. 5 minutes later the owner came knocking on the door to apologize and mumble we could have 20 minutes more. My terrified little mom couldn't move fast enough to get out of that hotel, past the owners private apartment (with the doors wide open and the room full of kids toys, the laundry room with a dozen men's Polo shirts hanging to dry by the owners father on a string across the room) to the door, through the greasy smudged front doors to freedom. You don't have many hotel choices between Sioux Falls and Sioux City's, but you can choose to stay NOT here but at Crossroads just across the street. read more
