Idk about the reviews from a year ago but i just got here and my room is perfect clean bed, big tv good channels, no carpet in the room, good water pressure, cheap laundry and the check in lady was nice and chill, the hallway to the rooms doesn't look to great tbh but thats not something i personally care about. Booked for 2days came out to 179$ I personally look for 60-80$ a night hotels after taxes but this was the cheapest option in the area so you can't beat it... ik some people dont like smell, the hallways is kinda smokey but my room wasn't and smelled great idk about all the other rooms but i was #103 read more

This is an update from my 2018 review. Over 5 years later and I can't stop thinking about how filty this place was. Judging from the newer reviews not much has changed. I wanted to add to my review that the place had bedbugs. I woke up in the morning with bites on my arm. It was so nasty I contemplated sleeping in my car but thought it was unsafe. There was a dent in my car when we left the next morning, someone had obviously hit my car in the parking lot over night. Ever since we stayed here I always read the reviews before we book a room in a hotel. The health department should shut this place down. read more

On a road trip last weekend and ran into horrid Chicago traffic putting us way behind schedule. We found this Super 8 on the Priceline app for a dedent Friday price ($88) The evening desk clerk was accommodating, but she was also very straight edge. To the point where I felt very comfortable staying there, knowing that no "funny business" was going to get past her. (Sometimes you find these interstate hotels and they seem to be magnets for unruly & illegal behavior.) We were traveling with a baby and I felt very safe, except for the fact that the latch hook locks on the inside of the door were removed. We could lock the doorknob, and then our toddler could grab the handle and let himself out. That was the only stress, and we just moved a bunch of luggage in front of the door to prevent his escape. Ordered from Uber Eats and there were a ton of delivery choices and delivery times were fast. Easy highway access, but far enough away from the exit that you can't see or hear the interstate. There is a cash deposit required upon check in, if you want a non smoking room. We didn't have cash & were planning to leave very early in the morning, making a room inspection seem somewhat inconvenient. So, we chose a smoking room but it wasn't too smelly. Strict non smokers might be affected in their smoking rooms, but for us, the room had fresh paint, and it didn't leave a lingering smell on our clothes or luggage. The morning desk gal was nice and friendly. The coffee was tasty and we grabbed a honeybun for the road and it was an easy exit. For the price, this room was good. Their pool was closed under construction. They do not allow outside visitors due to "Covid" but I secretly like that, knowing no creepers are coming in and out at night. read more

This place should be closed down. That's It. I cannot believe the level of filth this place has. Also I went down to immediately get a refund and was told that essentially because we booked through "expedia" which we didn't. We booked through hotels.com, that we needed to wait for the manager to come in in the morning to inspect the room "like it wasn't already messed up completely" to give us our refund. Will update again If I do not receive a full refund for this terrible stay. I've had bad hotels/motels. This is another level. read more

NEGATIVE STARS! PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE. ITS NOT EVEN FIT FOR THE HOMELESS. THIS IS A DISGRACE TO THE SUPER 8 CHAIN. After the last 2 yrs of visiting this region and having had nothing but the most wonderful accommodations at the Comfort Inn we were left with no choice but to book our 3 rooms here due to the Olivet Nazarene University homecoming, everything else was booked up a couple months in advance. How bad could it possibly be? I can't think of any place I've ever seen or heard of in my years of travel that come close to this horrific and filthy. The first thing I noticed upon check in was that the pool had a film floating on top, and the pumps and filters weren't turned on thus there as no pool circulation. The next thing before entering my room was the condition of the carets. They were very old, very dirty and very stained. I don't think this motel has been properly cleaned in years. This is a smoking room only motel and the rooms reeked of stale cigarette smoke. It was simply disgusting. The ceilings were patched or peeling and the carpets as filthy as the hall carpet. I tried to check other options so I could cancel my room but there was nothing else available. How this place passes state/county inspection is beyond me. I'm on the verge of reporting them. My friends rooms had roaches. If mine did I did not see any. Maybe I just didn't want to know. I could not check out soon enough the next morning. read more

Despite all of its poblems, this is actually a thoroughly serviceable overnight hotel. When I came in, there was no one at the front desk at all. I called 0 as the sign suggested, and still no one. I then started calling another hotel to find out if they had vacancy, when suddenly a desk clerk appeared to check me in. There are a lot of ominous signs warning you about bringing guests to the pool and requiring $150 deposit upon check-in (which is apparently not the actual policy). I got the distinct feeling this is a sketchy area, magnified by coming back to the hotel later to see police outside, quietly in their cars, monitoring... something. A sting? I didn't stay to find out. So, mega sketch. But nothing happened. No arguments, no break-ins, nothing. It turned out to be a quiet, ordinary night in my room, and then we left in the morning, and that was that. (Had to call 0 again to get the clerk to check us out, and then grudgingly give us a receipt. With a smile, but I could tell she was upset at having to do something. But at least she tried to hide it.) My overall review I guess is more of a 2.5 star, but the #1 takeaway is that I got a good night's sleep, so I'll round up. I also need to counter the 1 star reviews. If a hotel replaced a sheet every time it was burned with a cigarette, they would be out of business. And no, this is not a smoking room only hotel. I have no idea where that notion came from. My room had no odor to it. But still, I would try to not stay in this area in general next time, just to avoid that whole general sketchy vibe. read more

FILTHY!!!! Cigarette smell in the lobby. The quilt in our room had caked on food on it, the chair in the room was so stained I wouldn't sit on it or put anything on it. The drain in the shower was clogged, while taking a shower I was standing in 6 inches of water that never drained when we checked out 30 minutes later. Every time I used the coffee pot I blew a fuse. There was a cigarette burn on the mattress pad and the sheets were so worn and thin in places I could see my hand through them. Also, the sheets were on inside out and after witnesses how dirty the place was I started to wonder if the sheets were even changed from the previous guest or if they just turned them inside out and used them again. OH...and then there was the skunky smell of pot drifting into my room. I'll never stay here again, I'll sleep in my car first. read more

If you can avoid staying here, please do. I was absolutely horrified to find buildup on the showerhead in the bathroom. After my shower, I went to dry my body with what I thought was a clean towel only to have the hair of a stranger rub across my mouth as I continued to dry myself. If that wasnt bad enough, I pulled my blanket back to find cigarette burns on it. Fearful that I would be charged for this, upon checking out, I informed the clerk to which she responded, "Its ok. I know." This implies that hey do not care about the guests that stay there. It is a filthy place and I will NOT be staying again. read more

I found this hotel to be fine. Employees were nice and room was clean. Plan to stay here again next week.

Stayed here while driving through the area and needed to stop for the night due to falling asleep. The condition of the hotel was pretty terrible. Carpets in the room were in terrible condition. Also it was clear that the room had not been vacuumed in ages. There were food crumbs (and full popcorn kernels) all over the floor. Check-in experience was an adventure. In addition to all of the ominous signs referenced elsewhere about deposits, either the hotel's computer system needs an upgrade or the staff need more training on it. The check-in system crashed for my front desk clerk three times. It was reasonably inexpensive, but I wish I had paid more and stayed elsewhere. read more

My husband, my little dog (chiuaua) and me spent the night of Jan. 17/2014 in the Super 8 motel in Kankakee, IL and did not have a good experience. We notice that my dog started scratching right after we got in the room and for our regret we did not ask to change rooms. My husband and me had some bites on our body the next morning and only then we realized that there was fleas in the room. We told the employee in the front desk in the morning but the worse of all of this is that my dog came home full of fleas. So far I have killed 10 fleas. I felt sorry for my dog and called to complain but did not get good reception by the motel employee. I was told that I was lieing, that they never had fleas in the hotel and that my dog got fleas in another hotel and he hang up on me. Too, too bad!!!!!! read more
