Our bes covers had cigarette burns in them and holes room smells like smoke. Water pressure is horrible there is no iron in the room you have to go downstairs to the office to get it. I never leave reviews but I just had the worst experience @ Super 8 & I want to share so that I can prevent someone else from getting their money stolen by these people. First off, they ask for a $200 deposit which is outrageous for the type of property it is. Conveniently, when I checked out they decided to steal my deposit. it finally clicked that this company has quite the scam going on. My room was so gross! There were patches of blood spatter throughout the room from IV drug users, I assume. The microwave didn't work & the fridge smelled of expired food. It was poorly cleaned, if cleaned at all, because there until were stains, cobwebs, dust and grime throughout. The smoke detector was missing and I documented this in a video that I'm sending to corporate/Wyndham because the chick at the front decided to keep my deposit because she smelled smoke! I DON'T EVEN SMOKE!!! I asked a construction worker that was standing near by to enter the room & tell me if it smelled of smoke & he said "no" right in front of that chick but she was determined to keep my cash deposit and it's unbelievable that they would have the audacity to do such a thing when they run a slum property. I found drug baggies on 2 occasions while walking my dog...trash all over parking lot, people hanging out all night in the parking lot doing who knows what! And to boot, my room door had clearly been kicked in at one point n never repaired properly because it didn't shut right and there was always a gaping gap visible so that anyone could easily pop the lock and get in with a credit card. Beyond disappointed that I put up with there disgusting room for 3 days for them to turn around and accuse me of smoking and keeping my very large deposit. I would bet money that this happens all the time with these people. They're clearly scam artists that are trying to pass off a cockroach infested motel as a Shangri-La hotel!!! I'll never stay here again & I will tell everyone I know to stay far away from this sh*t hole. We were promised a rollaway bed when we checked in, waited til almost 10 pm and was told there was no bed for us. Today, same thing. Promised a bed and we had to go to the front desk to remind them and surprise! No bed -_- why even mention it in the "amenities included" if there's only two of them? bathrooms full of nasty stains, shady people all around and the security cameras are useless. $65/night with AAA for double bed room during end of march. Spotty wifi, but passable for not-frequent users. The staff is nice. Room seems clean enough. Old TV, but works fine. Provides with only shampoo and no conditioner or lotion. Breakfast available, but a bit of a sad breakfast. There's sitting area at the check in lobby (Office?). Two types of Cereals - raisin bran and frosted wheat (I think that's what they're called). Milk Provided Coffee and juice. Waffle batter and waffle iron. Makes decent waffles. With some toast and a toaster. Grape Jam and butter. Enough to make one full of course, but not as satisfying. Sign says newly renovated, but the elevator seems very fragile. Terrible. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The rooms are renovated poorly. The bathrooms are filthy with sink and tub stains. The tub feels like your going to fall through the ground. When I looked underneath the bed, there were chips from who knows when. Maybe it was in my mind but I felt itchy when lying in bed. There were a few roaches crawling in the bathroom at night. I would never come here again. Worst decision to stay here. It was about $130 a night and if I had spent a little more, I'm sure I would've gotten a nicer hotel without these issues. I'm staying at this hotel tonight and I wish more than anything that I wasn't. I'm staying in my 2nd room now and just like the first one, this one smells disgusting like years of cigarette smoking. All of the rooms on the north side of the hotel used to be smoking and all of the appliances and furniture in the rooms are still the same, and everything is stained yellow. I travel a lot and always stay in hotels under $100 and this is one of the worst experiences. The smell is honestly suffocating. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Labor day weekend. The price was DOUBLE what any of the websites say ( I get it HOLIDAY weekend, so gouging is what people do) Upon arrival, a man sitting outside the lobby doors glared at us in such a way as to make me think I should leave ( he appeared to be some sort of manager, as he was there every day we stayed GLARING at customers) The room smelled of too much cleaner and the table was sticky. I was grateful there were no carpets. The bathroom floor had not been swept or mopped. It had an overall feeling of uncleanliness. The room was NOT cleaned the next day. We went to the Safari Park and were gone most of the day, we came back to find an untouched room. I took my food trash to the lobby and complained that I had also killed a VERY LARGE cockroach ( not a water bug, I know the difference. ) The Couple in the room next to ours remarked that they NEVER take out the trash and helpfully pointed to an overflowing can in the parking lot. The girl behind the counter noted the complaint and they came into the room while we were out to dinner and "Cleaned"( this was sort of pointless at this juncture) The problem was they left the dirty linens on the floor next to the bed. There was trash everywhere on the grounds, and the most spectacular mountain of unwashed linens I have ever seen. I believe it reached the second floor level, crammed into a corner of the building as it were. I was glad I wasn't in those rooms. Never again. The Wyndham chain should be ashamed. read more

Just go to Econolodge next door. I booked idiotically because of the association with Wyndham. Don't do the same as I cause of the name. I truly believe they did the bare minimum remodel to obtain the Wyndham name. As I checked in I took a look at the reception area and thought "pretty nice." The kid who was working the front desk was good at his job, and no issues other than him wearing some baggy hoodie and Dickies. You would think a polo or something to make you seem official would be implemented. We went to our room, it smelt of smoke (even though labeled as non-smoking room). Instantly noticed the fridge was in a random corner of the room and not in the tv stand shelf where it's suppose to go. As mentioned rooms were "upgraded" but the fridge was from 1992 (yellow, old, dented). The faceplates on the wall sockets were either white, yellow, or accidentally painted on. The bathroom was not touched at all. One towel has a little old blood spot on it, and one hand towel has a nice long hair in it. I noticed no iron/ironing board and called down to the front desk. I had to "come check it out" if I needed to use it. No offer for housekeeping to bring it up or anything. Next morning as we were leaving, the same front desk kid was in the elevator on the way down, and I noticed he was just playing on his cellphone (no issue there, as I figured he was heading to start his shift). The part that through me way off was that when we walked in the lobby with him there was a guy waiting (as if to check out). The kid gave the cellphone to that guy that was waiting since he had left it in his room after checking out. I was like "Did he just straight go through that customer's phone?" Just avoid this place if you're looking to stay in the area. There are other places, not much, but much better choices. Pros, Cons, then summary Went here for 1 night for a hockey game. PROs--It's near the freeway and near some good places to eat. The internet wifi was free and pretty fast. The TV was a newer flat screen, and the toilet and shower worked fine. Check in/out was easy too. $70 a night, for a weekend? That's great for the area. CONs--The sheets had hair on them, so it looks like they weren't changed. The place doesn't have elevators, and we were on the 3rd floor. Come on now, this isn't 1850, get an elevator. The area is a tad shady, so don't plan on walking anywhere at night unless you have a CCW permit. Would I go back? Maybe, but only if I needed a place to sleep. I stayed here last week til mother's day but we didn't last that long we went home sooner . First this hotel has alot of people drugged out walking in the lobby and hallways . Also there's alot of gang members walking around also. The lady in the front is rude when you try asking a question and interrupt her conversation with a older man when there were talking about finding a dead body I hope not at the hotel and I heard some of that conversation the police were surrounded out front one night as I came home . The room was non smoking smelling of fresh cigarettes . The bath tub had hair and sheets had a stain on it . It was bad I'm not super picky but this way gross . We stayed here for a small family reunion. The rooms were, for lack of a better word, mediocre. Beds weren't very comfortable, but the lack of pillows was actually the thing that confused us the most about the beds. They put three pillows that are about the size of throw pillows on each bed. Very strange, out of place, and uncomfortable to sleep on. Upon entering the room, we realized our door hard a hard time opening and closing; perhaps not properly aligned or something. A/C worked in our room, which is good, but it really only had two settings: off or freezer. The "breakfast" is raisin bran, coffee, and toast; not too terrible considering it's a cheap motel, but our kids turned their noses to it. Oh, they did have a mini waffle maker out, but we were told that they weren't very good. We decided to skip it all together and eat out. The elevator was pretty funky smelling. My husband and I were trying to put our finger on what it smelled like and my daughter described it perfect. Pee. It was as if someone peed all over the inside of the elevator and maintenance tried to drown it in cheap air freshener. It also was really creaky and it scared our youngest daughter so we took to the stairs regularly. They have a pool and a spa with robotic chairs to help the elderly/handicapped get in. An interesting feature. I'm not sure how the rest of my family's experiences went. It worked for a cheap place for us to stay while we were out of town, but we probably won't go back. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! We needed a place to stay for an over night last minute trip ( soccer tournaments)! Booked online via their website! We were not allowed to check in earlier as they were "disinfecting" the rooms for 3 and half hours. Front desk are rude, short, poor customer service and a IDGAF attitude. At 3pm I went in to check in along with other 3 customers behind me, the first woman is changing shifts with another and finally attends me, finally she ask for my information, along with credit card ID. THEN!!!! She says " the security deposit is cash only and is $100 I have never paid cash for a security deposit and this just sounds suspicious. She said it was their new policy, WELL IT ISN'T. It specifically states on their website that credit cards are to be used for security deposits. She returned my cards and said " yea, well Im sorry". Sounds like a crooked ass place! I guess I should have expected it for a super 8 motel. I wasn't gonna start shit cause you know people be crazy now! We left, found another on hotels tonight! I hope their manager or owners review this and take action. Waiting for my refund! read more

We were in no condition to drive back to OC after an evening drinking and dining at the Stone Brewery Bistro, so I scouted for inexpensive but decent hotels in the area. Super 8 in Escondido advertised rooms at $48 for a single non-smoking king. Perfect! This included the AAA discount. For a discount-end motel that didn't suck, this was a very good price. I SHOULD have made reservations. When we finally checked in, around 10:30PM, we were then informed that all the king singles were sold out. Well, okay, that's fair given it was Valentine's day. So we were given a 2 queen double, at nearly $20 more than advertised. Huh??? We were too tired to go look for a substitute, but $68 for a Super 8 isn't competitive to me in that area. There's better motels at that price point. We took the room The mattresses were clean and comfortable. Pillows were okay. Overall the condition of the room was fine. What I'd expect for a Super 8. I *did* like the AC/heater in the wall. It was a digital thermostat that was reasonably quiet and kept the room from getting too chilly. Worked very well. Its surprising to me how often those in-wall AC/heater are so poorly maintained that they rattle endlessly, or sound like a 737 taking off at 4AM. NOT this unit. The bathroom layout was odd. One sink on a enormous counter, with hanger area, toiled and shower, in ONE room. Made it difficult for one person to use the facilities while the other brushed their teeth etc. The building was reasonably quiet at night. The shower was awful. The bowed curtain rod was partially broken and didn't keep the curtain around the tub while showering, which caused the floor all around the toilet to get soaked. Also, HOT WATER WOULD'VE BEEN NICE! I couldn't find hot water beyond "just barely tepid" for the morning shower. That was one chilly, unpleasant morning shower! My girl decided to not even bother taking a shower after I complained about it. They said free WiFi. Gave me the password, but it didn't work. It kept refusing the password, thus another advertised feature didn't work. Was told they didn't know what was wrong. I wouldn't come here if I NEEDED WiFi during my visit, even if they claim it was working. I know Super 8s are discount-ended motels, but they usually (as in this case) charge higher prices than similar chains (e.g. Rodeway Inn), thus I would expect better, especially from a Wyndham family of lodgings. This experience doesn't improve that with me, and I think I will tend to avoid Super 8s in the future. For another $10 we could've stayed at the Ramada and certainly had a better room. read more

We stayed here one night and I am glad it was only one! We had trouble sleeping due to the really noisy A/C unit, and were awoken at 4 a.m. because the people in the room above us were jumping up an down and making all kinds of racket (not the hotel's fault, I know). We requested a room with two double beds, but there were only enough towels for two people. I asked for more, but was told there were no more available until after 10 a.m. the next morning once the laundry had been done. When we went down to check out the free breakfast the next morning, we found do-it-yourself waffles, a choice of two cereals, mini-muffins, empty coffee pots and a broken juice machine. We ended up checking out early and finding breakfast elsewhere. Considering what we paid for the room that one night, I can honestly say that we have stayed in nicer hotels for much less. read more

The moment we pulled up, we were afraid, didn't feel safe, and didn't even want to look at the room. We gave it a chance. Maybe it looks better inside? Nope. Our room smelled like marijuana. Asked to see a different room. Smelled like cigarettes. Asked to see ANOTHER room. The door had no lock, and had to be slammed to even close all the way. RUN!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE. Moving past the disgusting smell of the rooms, the garbage outside, and the unhelpful hotel staff (Sergio), we had booked a handicap accessible room that they ended up giving away before we got there. They had us then stay in a non-accessible room because there were no other available rooms in the entire city at that point. Our disabled party member was unable to use the restroom by herself because there were zero accommodations, and we stayed up with her all night helping her and making sure she wouldn't fall, and even that was dangerous because the toilet seat was unhinged. The manager refused to give us any refund despite us bringing up the severe ADA violations taking place. We are the process of escalating this complaint. Whether or not you're disabled, this hotel is disgusting and unpleasant to stay in. Trash was lodged in our shower drain. The food and drink vending machines were out of nearly everything. As our president would say, "the place was a shithole!" edit: I see Brandy has responded with complete lies. we only stayed one night, not three, and we were NOT offered a refund. "BED BUGS" Large red welt on my forearm after one night stay. Manager said they did not have "BED BUGS" so I figured perhaps a spider bite but when I awoke the next morning I had 3 more "BED BUG BITES" This time the motel changed my room and the rest of the stay was bite free. Total hotel bill, $386. I had paid in advance. I asked the manager, Mr. Sergio Garcia, for a refund of $150 and he declined, repeating they have no "BED BUGS". The welts took about a week to go away, After several contacts with Wyndham, the mother company, and Super 8 Worldwide, the owner/operator Jyoti Sarolia, and Mr. Garcia they offered me two nights free stay. They crawled into the cracks under the sink. And little baby crawling up the walls. Gross. Not to mention two different breeds of the bug....EW. When calling down to front desk there was a big one on the night stand. When we talked to the owner he said it wasn't his fault.... But yet you manage and run the property, right? On 10-18-14 & 10-19-14 We Stayed At The Super 8 In Escondido. We Had Tickets To A Charity Event At The Harrah's Rincon Casino. The Rooms At The Casino Were Almost $500.00 For The 2 Nights. After Checking Other Casinos In The Area, Their Rates Were About The Same. I Decided To Check In Escondido (Only 12 Miles From The Harrah's Rincon). I Discovered The Super 8 In Escondido Which Had Been Recently Remodeled, Provided A In Room Refrigerator, Microwave, Coffee Maker And Free WIFI. They Also Provide A Free Continental Breakfast In The Morning. The Price Was Only " 1/4 Of What The Casinos Were Asking" !!! The Room Was Very Nice, Very Clean And The Super 8 Staff Was "Awesome" !!! We turned on the AC unit right away. 2 am and none of us could sleep due to how hot it was so we had to ask for a fan. Keep in mind the AC unit was from like 1980s. Recently stayed here for a week, in the middle of June. Our room was nice inside. It seemed remodeled. But the outside of this hotel needs a lot of work. There were many people smoking marijuana outdoors all over the hotel and in the pool area and when I complained, the staff said "we can't stop people from smoking outdoors". Well, Yes, this I know....but smoking marijuana freely outdoors in public areas....to my knowledge.....isn't ok? Right? And it was actually making me and my child feel ill. The hallways and elevator reeked of cigarette and marijuana smoke. And just smelled musty and old. There were also cigarette butts all around the jacuzzi and pool area on the ground. It was gross. There were also many people who seemed to be living in the hotel. Who really seemed up to no good and I really didn't feel safe at all. These people left their doors open and between the hanging Xmas lights and such, they just looked like drug dens as we walked by. There was also a man on the 2nd floor who kept coming out when we were in the pool and appeared to be taking pics on his cell phone of people in the pool area. Very creepy. We did not use the pool anymore after seeing that ... Many were playing loud music and yelling and cussing in the hallway throughout the night...at 1am, 3am and so on. I had to call down to the front desk a few times because of this. The hotel environment feels very bad here and I'll never use this hotel again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Homeless people also were hanging out in back of the hotel. Not a good hotel for a family at all!! read more

This Super 8 is not one of the best that we have stayed in. There was a very minimal breakfast available. There was cereal, toast, and waffels to eat. There was coffee and juice to drink. We have stayed at others that had packets of oatmeal, yogurt, and fresh fruit available. The cleaning staff would not give us the 3 towels that we requested each day. We should not have had to ask for extra towels every other day. There were three of us staying in the room for nearly two weeks. The room was cleaned properly every day. The little bottles of shampoo were dropped off every day so at the end we had over a dozen bottles laying around. Being in southern California, all the room enterances were outside. Unfortunatly since it was winter and cold in the morning this was a little rough. That last isn't a complain, just an observation. The hallways leading through to our room was not kept in a clean fashion all the time. There were a few 'sticky' spots that did not get cleaned up the entire time that we were there. The room to have breakfast in was in the lobby and there were only four tables and the tv in that room did not work. The next time we stay in Escondido to see family, we would stay here again, but we would also bring our own foodstuffs for breakfast. The water pressure was not very good at all in the shower. The wifi was problematic, we lost connection on a regular basis and it was not very strong. read more
