DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! The filthiest place I have ever been to, in my whole life-- & Im old! Where do I even start? Large clump of mold in the back of the coffee maker; Toilet lid had pee (or something) on it; I scrubbed the toilet &a sick to make it sanitary for us (but left the gross band aids that were stuck to the tank); Every light switch was beyond dirty; Laminate floors had not been mopped in months (at least); Thick clumps of dust & crud all around the super old A/C that didn't really work; Dirt & crud in every drawer; Had to put a bottle cap under night stand to make it Level to keep the drawer closed; Ceiling light hanging down; Lot of dog poop not picked up in the pet area. This place was so bad, I wouldn't even let my dog walk on the floor! Unfortunately, all hotels in the area were sold out, & we were forced to stay 2 nights! Resembled a transient take over, with live in residents, drug deals in the open, and more undesirable behavior taking place. I will be reporting them to the health dept.!

Hampton Inn San Marcos - Guest room amenity

Not a 5-Star quality hotel, but this place is very pleasant, clean, and comfortable. Desk personnel…read morewere all very personable and helpful. Free breakfast was pretty decent. I'd recommend this hotel for anyone watching their budget, especially those who need to stay close to the Kaiser Permanente San Marcos hospital. (By the way, that hospital is phenomenal! They are taking excellent care of my sister.)

This one is a bit of a mixed review, I typically stay at Hilton properties while traveling and…read morealways enjoy Hampton Inn and Suites. I ultimately gave them a 3, but leaning towards a 4, just been in more updated properties, that is why are ended up at a 3. This particular Hampton is a Hampton Inn, not Inn and suites. Dis not realize that, but not a big deal. The rooms were still pretty spacious and comfortable. The staff here was very good, smiling, helpful, offered me some snacks for being a Gold member, thank you. The hotel itself was comfortable, but it is on the older side, but still has an outdoor pool, breakfast area and a small gym. So really all the things you need for a comfortable stay. I did not try out the pool, but the breakfast was good and the gym worked, but lacked a bench, which makes a big difference when trying to get a good workout in. The rooms have a slightly larger mini fridge, which is nice to store leftovers and a small freezer section, A coffee maker and a microwave, very convenient. Bed was comfortable as well. There was actually a group of soccer player staying at the hotel that were pretty loud, but once in the rooms, could not really hear them that much, so the walls had decent insulation. As far as the review, here is the good and what could be improved and the weighted average lead me to a 3. Hotel common area's 3 Room 3 Free Breakfast 4 Free parking 5 Gym 2.5 Pool 4 I think this hotel could easily be a 4, maybe even a 5 with an update to the decor and rooms and if they could reconfigure the gym to add a bench and maybe a bigger footprint, but even just adding a bench would bump it up to a 4 for me. They did have dumbbell's up to 70 or 75 lbs, which is a plus. If you are looking for a comfortable stay, reasonable rates, free parking and breakfast and a good overall value, this is a good choice. No frills, just a clean place to stay. I would recommend. I would imagine they will update soon as all around them is up and coming and building a lot of new modern structures, I would hope they would to keep up with the area. Enjoy!

You also have an In-N-Out Burger nearby along with the 7-Eleven a chipotle and Panera so this location is ideal if you're looking to save money and be in a convenient location, where you have plenty of options on Dining and shopping. Our room was on the second floor with a private balcony that overlooked the parking lot so we enjoyed that because we were able to have easy unobstructed view of our vehicle. We had our service animals with us and the hotel employees were very accommodating to that fact. We want to send a big shout out to Raj (the manager) for doing such a great job. The breakfast that's included definitely serves its purpose and the gym and computer center are also very helpful. Should you need them. We do recommend this location, especially if you're looking to save money but yet still be surrounded by convenient options and if you wanna make your way over to La Jolla Shores Beach it's only 20 minutes away and well worth it. Enjoy your stay at comfort Inn, Escondido, San Diego and tell them the Garrett's say hello

* catching up on old backlogged drafts so this review may be a bit out of date…read more I was looking for a cheap place to stay after my work trip in San Diego while I was in town diving and exploring for a couple days. It was a last minute booking and I rented a car so I decided to book up north in Escondido for a cheaper rate. The hotel was definitely no frills and a bit outdated but it was decent for the price. I didn't make much use of the amenities as I wasn't at the hotel much but it was convenient and a fine stay.

We stayed at Fairfield by Marriott for two nights while attending a wedding at Twin Oaks Garden…read moreEstate and were able to use a guest discount, although it still ended up being pretty pricey for a short stay. The room itself was what you would expect from a typical Marriott property. Clean, comfortable, and nothing out of the ordinary. The most disappointing part for me was the breakfast. As someone who eats plant based, my options were extremely limited. I ended up having oatmeal and bananas both mornings while watching most guests enjoy bacon and eggs. I was honestly expecting a bit more variety, especially fresh fruit, which feels like a basic for a standard Western hotel breakfast. On a positive note, the guy sitting on the bench outside was the best part. Overall, it was an okay stay, but I do wish there were more inclusive breakfast options, especially at that price point.

Gaby checked us out and she was super friendly. Our room was beautiful. The bathroom is lovely with a gorgeous huge walk in shower. Only complaint is it was hard to do my makeup because the lighting is very dim, so being a lighted makeup mirror...loved the closet and refrigerator and nice tv. The mattress was super comfortable and comfy pillows too. Breakfast was yummy and loved the coffee and waffle bar. (Don't forget to flip it so the timer goes on, should have a direction for that!) the breakfast area was nice and also an outdoor patio with heater is great. Wanted to take a jacuzzi but it was full with people and it's not very big. The pool is big. The whole experience was great and I highly recommend staying here and hope to be back in future.

Driving in and out of the hotel was a pain. This hotel isn't your typical hotel with restaurants in it. There wasn't food nearby within the hotel so I had to rely on food delivery. At least with the rooms, you can prepare your own food which is a plus. Their continental breakfast was basic, but did the job. The rooms which are coined suites, are large and spacious. The big downfall is really the paper thin walls. Even when wearing earplugs, I can hear the next door neighbors. The noise kept waking me up, resulting in a bad nights sleep. I wouldn't stay here again. Also, they charge $5/day for onsite parking which is obnoxious.

Beds: more comfortable than expected Game room: has free PacMan. For this amenity alone my husband will vote 2x to stay here again. Breakfast: solid Coffee @ breakfast: better than most & I appreciate that. Kitchen in suites: appropriately appointed and useable. The not so good: Man the rooms are dumpy - at least ours is. Snagged/ripped/terribly stained carpet, ripped bed linen, stained/damaged/food spilled on soft goods & wood furniture, missing or dangling drawer pulls and knobs, 'stuff' splashes on the lampshades, torn window screens. Wallpaper peeling off the bathroom walls, filthy rolling door tracks. Stayed 6 days and had to ask for service (just new towels). C'mon- really? Hall carpet is trashed - ripped, stained, pulling away from the walls Entry/common area - man..it is always dirty- smells great but the floor is dirty (same with the elevator floors) I suspect it's from the palm trees in the parking lot (poor landscaping choice) that drop messy berries everywhere & they get tracked in. But that gunk is all over. Seems like a deep clean is way overdue- I cleaned when I arrived, it was so bad and we were expecting family to stop by. Thankful for the staff - coming in clutch and making grey skies blue with exceptional service!
