We found this hotel from the map that was between Chicago and Lafayette, and per Google Map, there were many stores around in this area. I am very glad that we chose this place to stay a night instead of heading to West Lafayette directly. When we arrived in Chicago, there was a big thunderstorm where we could barely see the highway. It was really scary, and we were all concerned about our safety. Thanks to this hotel, we were able to rest during the storm. The hotel itself isn't fancy, and it's more like a regular Comfort Inn. While it's not sparklingly brand new, it was clean and comfortable. The room was very spacious. The beds were fine. We got clean sheets and towels. The breakfast selection was limited, but with this price I couldn't expect to get a full buffet. It's enough for our breakfast anyways. The staff was friendly and helpful. The TV remote in our room didn't work, so I did tell the staff when I checked out. The staff thanked me and took a note. We would love to come again if we would be in the area next time.

Hallway carpets really need cleaning. My toilet seat was loose. If you used the microwave it smelled like something burning. The laundry is one washer, one dryer both very used. Staff was really working hard but friendly, except the evening desk clerk.

My son was heartbroken we left his stuffie behind. Overall, we had a really enjoyable experience. The pool was great, the s'mores and fire pit were great. The breakfast was great. We loved the seating in the evening to bring dinner back and enjoy at a table near the lobby. The hotel was clean. We will be back again :)

Saturday night the guests had taken over the entire breakfast seating area with crockpots of food and delivery pizza. I wish we would've made friends and ate with them instead of next-door at the Farmhouse Restaurant. It was terrible. I wrote a different review on that. We booked a 2 queen room for our family of 3. The room was spacious and had a view of the woods and walking trail behind the hotel. There was a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. The shower had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We did have problems with our door unlocking, but it was no issue. The main reason we stayed here was for the pool. The pool is 3'6" deep with a basketball goal and water spraying into it. There is a kitty pool that was 1 foot deep and two small slides. There was also a hot tub that went indoor and outdoor Saturday night the hot tub was too hot for my son to get in but Sunday morning it was warm. Lots of kids in the hot tub. The pool is not heated. It was pretty cold. I preferred the hot tub temperature. The staff at check-in and check out were both very friendly. They do a continental breakfast with two waffle makers. My son loved making his own waffles. They also had scrambled eggs, sausage, links, ham, hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, muffins, oatmeal, and cereal. Plus a machine with orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, and water and of course there was a coffee. We enjoyed our stay! As loud as the hotel was Saturday night. I expected to be woke up by kids running down the hallway or slamming doors and I'm happy to say we all slept all night. Great destination hotel.

It is centrally located -- a mere five-minute drive from downtown Valpo. The hotel is clean. You get a free breakfast and free coffee all day. (This is important! I needed some late-night energy.) The bed was oh so comfortable. Also: The shower had a tub. This feature is not something I usually care about, because I don't usually take baths, either at hotels or in general. I don't like sitting there in a tepid pool of my own filth. But on the night that I visited this hotel, I was feeling luxurious. So, I drew a bath and luxuriated. It was nice. There's a restroom in the lobby, in case you need to use the loo after driving a long time. In the morning, there's a free breakfast with your typical free hotel breakfast items: bagels, muffins, little containers of Yoplait, dry cereal, powered eggs. The coffee is also decent! I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself in Valparaiso. This is a more than decent hotel that's super close to lots of things in Valpo.

The water is a tad cool but the heat was blasting. So we didn't feel freezing cold after we left the pool. 3) Complimentary breakfast is a very convenient and easy solution when traveling with young children. Breakfast is served between 6 and 10 AM. The morning hotel manager was very kind to give stickers to my girls and offered me to-go bags to take some muffins and cereal in case my girls would get hungry on the road. I didn't take the offer but I really appreciate the thoughtfulness. He also gave us two bottles of water before we left which came in handy when we brought our girls to a nearby playground and it was scorching hot. Cons: 1) I don't know if all of the Hilton hotels are switching over to this Zero brand of toiletry. So far I have stayed at two Hilton hotels in Indiana and both of them are using this brand. I am not a fan. I had to apply a very generous amount of soap and shampoo before it actually foamed up.

Marilyn, Rebecca and Russell at the front desk made us feel welcomed from the second we arrived, and they consistently went above and beyond throughout our stay. Housekeeping clearly takes great pride in maintaining the property because everything felt immaculate throughout our entire stay. Most definitely would recommend to others and travelers.

This hotel is extremely convenient, located far enough off the interstate so there is no road noise but still easy to find. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. I'll definitely stay here when I am in this area.

Its fairly isolated from the light pollution and noise…read morefrom the mid to big city congestion one would have to face when staying for an overnight or two, so its fairly silent, aside from an occasional car or truck passing by and a freight train - almost too eerie for my taste. This inn has key-less doors, so make sure you memorize your codes for both the front door and your room. The front door needs to be locked manually, and your room door stay locked, so burn those numbers into memory or on the mobile phone you have with you. I stayed at the Porter Queen room - nice wood floors, has an A/C unit & heat for supplemental cooling/heating, bed is nice and comfortable without bugs or it being too hard or soft, mini-kitchen was nice for warming up leftovers or what nots, bathroom was basic and did the job nicely - no shampoo or conditioner, but a bar of soap is provided. Towels were provided in decent abundance. Room is nice, albeit a bit spartan. Note that I did the reservation via online, but had to talk to the owner/administrator. I forgot her name, but she was pleasant, and got it paid via credit card over the phone without issue. No one is staffed at the house, and is all dealt with "remotely" - but this works well as I arrived to the house clean, the email instructions very clear, and the room ready. Nearest restaurant or stores are about 5 minutes away if you want food, sundries, etc. I brought leftovers from lunch and that did me fine for the rest of the night. No free breakfast or what nots, unless if you arranged to purchase a snacking "package" with your reservation. Parking for 4-5 vehicles are available in front of the house, cannot comment on the lot a block away. Definitely a good place for some piece of quiet, isolation, or a 2-4 days stay for a couple. No one was apparently there during my stay, so cannot comment if the walls are too thin or if house rules are respected or not. Mobile signals are decent for Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile, so no problems with your calls or mobile web browsing. Anyone using the antiquated WiMaxx (Clear & Sprint) will NOT have coverage. Onsite Wifi is available and free, though I could not connect to it for whatever reason. Will come back again! (and sorry for the tl;dr)

I was a little reluctant to stay at a historic mansion, thinking that "historic" might actually mean "run down." That was not the case here at all. The interior is classic, yet modern. We stayed in the Queen Porter Room and it was lovely, quaint and well designed. Our bed was comfortable, and clean. We loved the kitchenette, equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and sink. I love that the proprietors send you a code for the front door and the room door ahead of your stay so you don't have to bother with checking in at a front desk. It really made us feel like we were guests at a country home rather than just customers checking into a hotel. The only downsides: paper thin walls and spotty wireless. We could only get reception in the lounge area on the second floor, but we weren't spending a lot of time online anyway. On our second night there were quite a lot of children running around and screaming. So while it's perfect for a romantic getaway, keep in mind that a lot of families are renting rooms in the summer. Other than that, we loved it! We definitely plan on staying here if we visit again.

We stayed 2 days for a wedding the weekend after Memorial Day, and my first issue was that it was $212 a night in Valparaiso...to put in perspective, we paid less per night at the Sheraton in Niagara Falls with a Falls view for our honeymoon. They would NOT give me the wedding block price as the block had "sold out". I have never heard of this happening before. So I paid the $212 a night as all the other same level hotels were around the same price. I checked with the front desk on Saturday morning at 9:30am to make sure that we had the room turned over (clean sheets, towels, etc) and when I came back to the room at 3:30 in the afternoon, the room was not clean. I stopped at the desk to ask why and was told that 4 housekeepers had called off AFTER I'd talked to them. They told their housekeeping staff to only clean the rooms that people checked out of and then to go home. Only offered me 1k points, which doesn't do much for me as I don't travel often, so at that point, I asked for manager's email. Emailed the manager Melissa who promptly offered me the same points and no monetary compensation. I called IHG directly who essentially said they couldn't do anything since locations are franchised and they don't process payments. I emailed Melissa back again and pushed for compensation, but my email was ignored. This is not how you run a business or get people to return. For almost $500 for 2 nights w tax, I expect better.
