Cheap beers, very smokey, poker games... Dirty Cop Drama. I've checked it out in the past... seems like a 'good ole boy' place where if you know the right folk you're golden, if not you're kinda just there... Even though there was a lot of drama recently - http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/14494345-418/fbi-agents-arrest-gary-cop.html I decided on coming back and checking it out... still pretty much meh. Maybe it's just because of the dirty cop drug bust, but I just wasn't that comfortable. I know it's not the bars fault and that they **probably** knew nothing about it... Anyway though, they've got the typical beers and of course some Three Floyd's brews too, plenty of different liquors too. They've got some poker tables and a tourney was going on when I went in. Perhaps that's why it was so smokey that night, I mean it's an Indiana bar so it'll be smokey but that night was ridiculous. I may or may not come back time to time... probably not though.

Great bartenders! Fast service. Prices reasonable. Great little dive bar with a pool table and darts.

Great bar. Lots of good people and laughs. They have a professional comedy show monthly.

A-OK but, it can get smokey and kinda crowded pretty quick…read more Here's the skinny: Simple drinks here... no fancy isht Mind your lungs, it gets smokey in here. Not much room on the "back side" of the bar. Booths are hard on your cheeks. Tables are better for a group. Here's the fat: If you're looking for a Martini or something, look elsewhere. Here it's beer, and simply mixed drinks as fast as they can pour 'em. This is another one of those NWI no frills just bottle and draft beer places. If you want a particular mixed drink - bring the recipe... they'll make it for you. If you don't smoke and have an aversion... stay away. Being a smaller bar and in Indiana the smoke pours forth from people like a *Pyroclastic Flow. The ventilation system has absolutely ZERO chance of keeping up. One side of the bar is less that 3 feet from the East wall... not many people pass through there but, when they do it's an awkward invasion of your "personal bubble". That said... it's a bar so personal space doesn't really mean much, especially after people have a few drinks. The booths here are particularly hard, I suggest sitting down gently unless you've got plenty of cushioning back there. Another thing about the booths, you're likely to find all kinds of change in the seats... change, cigarette butts and a coupon for Pizza Hut. Best bet for a group, tables. They can be put together for larger groups and there's no faux padding on the chairs to make you think they're soft. SYOY *Pyroclastic Flow (Noun) A fast moving gaseous cloud of hot ashes and other material thrown out from an erupting volcano

Warm and lovely British pub with delicious pies and efficient service…read more My dining partner and I tried the mushroom and kale and the rocking vegan pies. The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The restrooms were gorgeous - special shoutout to the lovely floral wallpaper. Overall, I highly recommend Pleasant House - the vibe is chill and understated and the food is stellar.

Everything I could ask for in a English pub. Great beer…read moremenu, enough different options but a clear focus on bitters, ales, pub ales, etc. Started with a scotch edge and it was delicious. The sausage was very tasty, the breading on the outside was incredibly crisp, light, and the egg inside was cooked well. Both the steak pie and the chicken pie were very good. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!
