I'm almost positive it was the owner or manager. He gave really no explanation and didn't even apologize. He was rude, inconsiderate and sarcastic. His only explanation was that he was told the room was vacant - obviously their computer system isn't very sophisticated. I stay in hotels a lot for work (I stayed in hotels over 100 nights in the last year) and have never had anything like this happen before. I will never stay in a Best Western again.

This hotel had mostly out of town contractors and construction workers, and weary travelers that pulled off the highway to stay somewhere. It has a Walmart right next to it, and an old broken down long since closed car wash on the other side of it. It's on the outskirts from downtown Ashland, right off I-64. I have stayed at some very nice Hampton Inns over the years, and I will still consider them in the future, but this is an old one that is in need of a complete renovation, but based on where it is, it probably would not be beneficial to spend the money doing it.

The staff is always friendly, and there are nearly always snacks and extras provided- coffee, cookies, and popcorn. It's always fun to pick something up on the way in, or come down for a snack later in the day. The rooms are small and simple, with the basic necessities. They do have a mini-fridge and a microwave, so save your leftovers! The bathroom is small with a walk-in shower, but it does the job. There is a pocket door, so it doesn't lock. The sink is separate from the toilet and shower, which is a bonus when getting ready in the morning or at night. There is a fitness room and an indoor pool, as well as a business center. Breakfast is included, and includes scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, cinnamon apples, biscuits (with hot gravy to add). There is a waffle station, as well as cold items like cereal, fruit, bread, and bagels. Pretty much anything you'd expect at a hotel breakfast, with plenty of room to sit and eat. This is a great location, and we've always enjoyed this hotel. If you need a spot to stay in the area, I'd recommend it!

This Huntington B&B is a bit misnamed. There are two rooms, a well appointed living room and a…read morebedroom with a queen size bed. There's a small kitchen and the bathroom is good. There is a view of the Ohio River from the couch (that becomes a bed) through a flood wall opening that provides a nice view over a static Pullman car that's part of the visitor center. The HVAC is quiet and efficient. The Chessie Room is on the second floor of an historic building and one must climb stairs to get there. The TV is awkwardly located in the bedroom but is offset by excellent WiFi. The breakfast part is a chit to Butter It Up! in the Market Square on 3rd Avenue, a 15 minute walk away but with a parking lot behind the building if you don't want to walk. If you do hike it you will pass Pullman Square and several restaurants that you may want to try later on. The menu is worth the walk. From the Chessie Room it's a ten minute drive to Ritter Park, as fine a city park as will be found anywhere. Value wise it's very good, in part due to the location, and in sort due to the comfort of the Chessie Room proper.

Plenty of parking can accommodate buses. From US Route 60, it is tricky to get to even though it is on the highway. The hotel is a steep driveway from the road. The really big sign with the name is not illuminated and the road sign (tiny) is hard to see when approaching from the west (an eastern approach is only marginally better). Even if using the east Mall Road exit from I-64, it is not obvious where the entrance is. There is a bar and restaurant which are seat yourself affairs. The bar is warm and inviting. The limited menu, also available at the bar, includes an incredible sandwich: Salmon BLT with Bacon. Good grief this little gem is great. It is served on buttered and lightly grilled Focaccia bread. The salmon was firm and tasty with a light creamy sauce. Added flavor was provided by several substantial pieces of center cut bacon. There was also lettuce and tomato. It comes with a side. Skip the fries and go with the in-house made potato chips! Excellent! The bar maybe small but well stocked. There were two locally made micro brews on tap.

The other desk agent was goofing off behind the desk, not helping the growing line of patrons waiting to check in. When it was finally my turn, the desk agent asked for the EXACT SAME Information i had already provided for pre-registration online. What a waste of time. Then I get the key and go to the room. I open the door to discover that the heat is blasting, the room was 110 degrees, and the beds are DISASSEMBLED with stained mattresses propped up vertically. I immediately returned to the desk but had to WAIT IN LINE AGAIN. I picked up the manager's business card in the lobby. But it was not the mgr that answered when I called. It was the other desk agent that was goofing off. The email address on my receipt was not a valid email. It bounced back as an invalid email. The worker goofing off told the other one that "we had a car" and we "could leave and go somewhere else" and she should "not sweat her incompetence or lack of hospitality".
