We were taken back at first by the sleepy town and old hotel and my imagination went wild in all the best ways. But once you get to know the people and history, you find the heart of a town that is so warm, kind and real. We love the vibe of this Iron Horse Hotel. It's so charming, unique, historic and is a one-of-a-kind find. Nichole was so friendly and helpful and puts a lot of love and care into this hotel. It's not your typical hotel--it's truly a unique old-town experience. The ceilings are high, the furniture is antique and the details are divine. Other than an occasional train (which is part of the history) it's so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay and if we are ever in the area again, we'd definitely stay here! After having dinner with friends in Columbia, we came back expecting to just chill at the Iron Horse but stumbled across a fun group at Dapper Daq. We had so much fun with them! In the morning when we checked out, we visited Christina's for breakfast and she made a wonderful spread. We left Blackwater feeling like we escaped the rush of highways, business chains and everyday life. Disclosure: there is no tv or shower--only a claw-foot bathtub. There are no dinner restaurants or gas stations. None of this bothered us. It added to the whole experience! I treated myself to a long bath and enjoyed the quiet (no tv, no car traffic, etc).

We observed one or two nightly and they pass through quickly. A fun plus was access to the lobby, which is the next door down. Books are available to read from local authors / about the region. The service is very personable. This may not be everyone's cup of tea but my family enjoyed it. Having usually stayed in more mainstream establishments, I enjoy the smaller businesses better and will continue to seek places like this out.

Quaint little casino with lots of parking stalls in front and an overflow off to the side. I'm not much of a gambler but my mom loves the game, especially the slots. She did not come up this time, but she had a great time. For me, being a non-gambler, I brought my laptop and settled in the tables near the casino's entrance. Hooked up to the wall outlet and did my thing. Watched as people queued up to receive their free gift for playing. They were handing out air fryers. Do get yourself to the service desk and sign up for your players card. Always ask of theres any free play with your sign up. You never know what their latest promo will provide.

The new Brew Brothers is just another average restaurant. Prices are in line with other like eateries. The casino is 95% worthless slot machines and/or other worthless electronic games. They have eliminated almost all table games and the few that remain are never open most of the time. Only thing good is that it's not too far of a drive from anywhere in central Missouri and with Vegas now a place only for rich people it's about as good as it gets these days. Don't expect to win any money here though! They have the machines locked down tight as they seldom ever payout anything worth talking about. Oh , sure $20-$30 here and there on occasion, but who goes to a casino to win that small amount of money considering 90% leave poorer!

The maintenance/cleaning staff looked to have been part time carnival workers. The front desk staff not much better. They lacked in customer service skills at check-in and check-out. The large girl at checkout never spoke a word other than "would you like a receipt"..... The bedding is generally why we stay at Hampton Inn. Wow.....was this a disappointment. Poor mattress and pillows. Had I known all of this about the Sadalia location....I'd saved the $270 and stayed in my son's college dorm.....

Was just super fantastic. She even gave my daughters compliments and candy. I couldn't have asked for a better start to the day! We were here for 1 night. The hotel was easy to find and seemed very secure and safe. The place was clean as was our room. Only knock on the whole stay was ice machine only available on the 4th floor. This Hotel might make it to where it would be hard to stay anywhere else! The area is definitely attractive. (Restaurants, shopping ease of getting on the highway) Thank you for being available to experience a successful vacation. This will be our hotel - Unless the girls want an outdoor pool Questions or anything else.. Let m know. Respectfully, Bryan Oklahoma City
