Stayed at School House Bed and Breakfast for a night while we were in town for a wedding. The staff was friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The rooms were all decorated to fit the theme and well thought out from the wine glasses to makeup towels. We stayed in the Clark Street lodge. Very nice clean no frills. Although we did not use, well appointed kitchen if you were planning on making meals. Perfect for group. Easy no contact check in and out. Nice place in back for bike storage. Our friends stayed in the upstairs loft apartment it was super cute loved the spiral staircase that lead to bedroom loft. read more

We stayed here last night for a graduation at mizzou and would recommend wearing the earplugs they provide on the main level. It's an old building with squeaky floors that can be heard all night long from the guests above us. We were in the Dick and Jane room. The free Wi-Fi service was sketchy. The chocolate chip cookies had a nice texture, but not much taste. The breakfast was mediocre, nothing spectacular. Checkout was at 11am and by then all of the coffee and to go cups were promptly put away. I will not return. read more

Lady and I decided to give this place a try for a nice weekend getaway. Nestled in a little town west of Columbia this B&B has a lot of charm. A renovated school house its currently a mix between old word and modern amenities. Our king bed room had a super comfortable bed, sitting chairs, cable, dvd player, wifi, and super high ceilings with classic furniture touches all around. Made for a really nice change of pace from a hotel. Infinitely more romantic. The owners operators were very nice and were very knowledgeable about the areas and local wines. Top points. The B&B featured a large sitting/breakfast area on the second floor with lots of comfortable chairs, games, and snacks. We opted for the celebration package with came with a bottle of local wine, custom engraved wine glasses and a gift card to a local upscale restaurant which we completely loved. If I had one complaint it would be the parking is street side. While keeping to the charm of the town forefront it can mean a bit of a walk to the B&B if you get back late from dinner. Really minor but worth mentioning if mobility is an issue. The Good Very romantic. Great service. Just better than a hotel. The Bad Nothing really. Maybe parking? The Ugly Nothing. This was my first time staying in a Bed and Breakfast and it was absolutely fantastic. I was a part of a bridal party of a wedding held at Les Bourgeois. My husband checked in for us and described the innkeeper as very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. He told him we would be leaving before breakfast to catch our flight, and we were left a continental breakfast basket with pastries and fruit. Additionally, he also made an early batch of coffee for us. The grounds were beautiful. Our room (Spelling Bee) was tastefully decorated and I loved that the bathrooms were stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Additionally, there was a wet face wipe at the sink, which helped remove my wedding makeup, and was a nice touch that I've never seen at a hotel. I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked at School House, but it was a great experience that I would recommend. read more

The rooms in the historic school house are charming and comfortable, the innkeepers, Lisa and Mike, are friendly and informative, and the breakfast is always delicious. This was the third B&B we have stayed at over the years, it was the best of the best. Every thing that you could want provided for you is provided for you. They have a sink full of personal hygiene items you might have forgotten to pack. This was the first time we did not have to search around for wine glasses, bottle openers or even the wine. They have every single little detail accounted for. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful and way beyond words to explain. The rooms are also the same. We stated in the School House room- the king bed was heavenly, and oh, wow it was so quiet!!! The owners are super friendly and you feel ok by asking questions about the inn, dinner plans or what to do in the area. We have stayed at other B&B's where you just check in and get a room key not the case here. They really seek out to make sure you have a good time- but not in a inconvenient/interrupting way. Wonderful retreat for the weekend. We only have one more year left in Missouri and we WILL be back to Rocheport for both this B&B and the winery. read more

I spent two days/one night in the Southern Dormitory with two girlfriends while we enjoyed biking on the Katy Trail. Our room was perfect for our needs and you can tell they have really thought out the needs of the cyclists. There is a locked shed for storing your bikes, a hose and rags to clean off the dusty bikes and legs after a long ride. Each dorm has one bathroom and there is a shared bathroom out in the hallway. The shared bathroom has a deep sink for hand washing biking jerseys and shorts (or you can also use the washer and dryer that's available in the hall if you have a full load) and to re-fill water bottles. We really appreciated the umbrellas when there was a major downpour right around dinner time and we were heading out to a nearby restaurant. Breakfast was right in our mini fridge. We were provided with packaged pastries, milk, juice, yogurt, fruit, cereal, coffee and tea. There are TV trays for breakfast. We were glad to have access to the shared bathroom after our check out time so we could wash up before we hit the road to go home. We toured the main building of School House and it is gorgeous! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, would go back in a heartbeat and will recommend to friends. read more

I booked the school house for my wedding night and the bridal changing room. The changing room was lovely, but when I got back from my wedding, I was extremely disappointed. First, I was in an enormous wedding dress and the stairs to the room were ridiculously steep and nearly impossible to climb. The door was like a hobbit hole that we had to duck into. There was no door to the bathroom, the tv faced the wall (why would you even bother putting it in), and there was a random photo of Tim Allen in the "closet." We tried to lay down and just sleep but we were so uncomfortable, we just changed clothes and went home. Then, I tried to contact them to see if i could get maybe a partial refund and they have completely ignored our calls. $300 down the drain (over-priced for memorial weekend) and a disappointing wedding night. I do not recommend this for any bride's wedding night. I'm only giving 2 stars because the bridal changing room was decent. read more

Absolutely beautiful! My husband and I spent our first anniversary here and it was wonderful. The only thing I would say is to make sure to bring insect repellant if you plan on spending any time outdoors (especially after dusk) as the landscaping is wonderful but also attracts mosquitos. They also have a couple of beautiful fountains that I wish they had cared for more and actually had functioning. One I never did see in operation and the other one I saw turned on for maybe 30 minutes. read more

Stayed at the School House B&B October 13, 2012 while biking the Katy Trail, the place is beautiful. Mike and Lisa were awesome the weather was very rainy and they drove us to dinner since we only had bikes for transportation. Lisa offered her washer and dryer for the soaked rain gear we had and they helped us with our bike that need a flat changed. The place was very well cared for and the food was awesome. The School House is a "must" stop if you are ever in Rocheport. read more

We were in the dorm room; bike storage and washer/dryer offered the perfect opportunity to wash our shirts at the 1/2 way point to St. Charles. We liked Rocheport and the Schoolhouse so much we stayed an extra day! read more
