Nice little spot that had a little bit of a line at 3pm on Saturday. About 8 sets of tables and chairs. Burgers better are an inch thick when I saw them being cooked. They get a thin crust on them that makes them very savory with a crunch. Got the super boy, shredded lettuce mayo, tomato and chili. Also tried poutine. It had shredded mozzarella. They also have ice cream, and specialize in sundae and shakes. Also saw someone buying donuts. Support this place, but the owner is shutting down for vacation in August! read more

+.5 for service Super Boy's definitely deserves its 4+ star rating, and it's consistently rated as one of the best burger joints in Winnipeg. Definitely not a baseless claim at all. It's a typical small size restaurant with places to sit inside. The menu can be a bit tough to see, but the usual burger offerings and milkshakes are there. I went with the super boy, as well as a chocolate milkshake. The super boy is essentially their version of a fat boy, and man do they do it good. The patty is extremely juicy (and crunchy) and the size is plentiful. The chili sauce is on point, and all the other ingredients are fresh as well. Did I mention their sesame seed bun is on point too? The milkshake was also very good, although the quantity is smaller than the Burger Place for the price I paid. Service was excellent. The owners seem to know the regulars quite well, and greet you when entering and leaving. It may be a bit out of the way, but it's definitely worth a trip every so often. read more

The "old school" diners are a dying breed in Winnipeg. We drove around St. James seeking an old-school experience and they were gone so we headed to the North End. We landed at Super Boys which proudly states on their sign that they are owner-operated (most re-incarnations of restaurants now have absentee owners who hire "stylists" to do the makeover and "managers" who are just hired guns to run the place). Super Boys is small with perhaps 6 tables. The staff were cheery and obviously enjoyed their work. I simply asked what they were famous for and it was their Super Boy burger. It was HUGE and packed with add-ons. The price was beyond reasonable. I also had a large pineapple milkshake. Real ice cream. Real fruit. Delicious. I can recommend Super Boys highly for anyone looking for a diner like the ones they went to back in the 1960s or 1970s. A great experience. read more

I have visited this place a handful of times over the years and it always delivers. Today I had the classic Superboy burger with fries and gravy, and it was spot on. The burger meat practically melts in your mouth. The fries are hand cut and come out piping hot. They pay attention to detail on their food, and the staff visibly cares about what they are doing. The staff are friendly and the vibe is almost always positive. Food takes a while to get ready , but worth the wait. Call ahead if you can't wait, and they will prepare it ahead of time. Don't come here for the beautiful decor. It has a typical diner look to it, and the bathrooms are tucked away in the basement . Good, if you're u want privacy; bad, if your claustrophobic. Easily the best burger in Winnipeg. You can come here for many options all of which are tasty, but the superboy is a chart topper. A Greek style fatboy that will leave you with a feeling of pure bliss. I've been coming here for close to 20 years at least a handful of times a year. I always try to introduce new people to this place and I've never heard a complaint. I've tried burgers at various places throughout the city and have yet to find a rival to the superboy. My wife and I even went so far as to have a burger party at our house where everyone brought their favorite burgers and we had a blind voting tasting. The superboy came out on top! The family that runs this small joint are a bunch of gems that always greet you with smiles and jokes. Great people! For the price of a fast food burger that will leave you without any satisfaction, you can enjoy a hearty superboy that will make you feel as if your life is complete. Small family owned Greek burger joint on Main and Landsdowne. It's the typical Winnipeg burger joint where you can get burgers, superboys (which are fat boys), fries, milkshakes and Greek food. But I came for the burgers and man oh man was I intimated by the size of these things. The patties are easily the biggest ones I've tried - very thick! At $4.00 for a single patty cheeseburger, it is very much worth the admission price in terms of quality and quantity. The burger had the usual pickles, onions, mustard and chili. The patty was very juicy though I was missing a bit of the carmelization and crust that I like on the exterior of a patty. The chili is very subtle here though I did pick up on the flavour of the cumin. The burgers here are probably 1.5 times or even bigger than VJs so there's definite value here but I could barely finish half as I also ordered a small poutine to share. The burger is very good here and I would highly recommend this place. But my personal preference for burgers is a stronger chili taste and more grill top crispiness on the patty. The small poutine ($5.25) is delicious! The fries are super crispy and just the right size (not too thin, not too thick) and the gravy is perfectly balanced and not too salty. But as a note the cheese here is mozzarella and not cheese curds. I really liked that the gravy and cheese were LAYERED in the bowl so you get a perfect ratio of fries, cheese and gravy in every bite! It's details like this that makes me rank this poutine very highly. They have a lot of milkshake flavours but the chocolate was yummy. The milkshake was thick, creamy and a great treat. My boyfriend ordered the double cheeseburger ($6.50) and had a very difficult time with it as he could barely finish it! Did I mention how thick the burger patties are?? LOL. I don't know the weight but it was pretty thick. But he really enjoyed the burger. The "superboy" burger is really a fat boy so the regular burger toppings plus lettuce, tomatoes and mayo and goes for $5.00. Oh and I must add that these burgers get pretty messy so it's not the type of burger you want to eat in your car. The restaurant has 7 tables that can seat about 4 each. There's parking in the back. The restaurant is very clean and amazingly there was no greasy food smell despite having the grill top cook only about 10 feet away from the dining area. Great exhaust hood! And service was very friendly but food service does require a bit of a wait because they cook everything to order! read more

For me the best burger in Winnipeg is a toss up between Super Boys and the Original George's Burgers on St. Mary's. Super Boys have a great sesame seed bun and the patty is thick, but not too thick. They also get major crustification on the patty which is actual a little crunchy and amazing. Great portion for the fries. Super friendly staff. Dingy stairs to the basement washroom is an amaizng touch of classic North Main feel good vibes. 5 out 5 for sure. Classic Winnipeg Burger joint. You won't be disappointed. read more

okay so here's the story, i never really and when i say NEVER leave comments or reviews for foods/restaurants but this i felt it needed to be recognized. we've live in the area and never been to this cute little place, so tonight i decided to pick up some food, got home got ready to dig in..first of all i got a double cheese burger (thinking it would be smaller then a superboy) MANNNNNN was i wrong!!! this thing was crazy big i couldn't even fit my mouth around it to bite and let me tell you i have a big mouth lol the meat was incredibly tasteful the seasoning wow i taste maybe a bit of star anise or maybe cumin. anyways fantastic!! the fires were perfectly done. i most definitely will be back! good job to this establishment WAYYYYY better then most that have fat boys an such!!! love it!!! thanks for supper 5 star no way!! 20+ read more
