Super super boy

Great food and the service is always so friendly! Plus now that they renovated inside it's so welcoming!

Amazing burgers here! The poutine was tasty. Service was great. Easy parking. Inside and outside dining. The inside could be fixed up some.

Superboy , small fries and gravy

I have visited this place a handful of times over the years and it always delivers. Today I had the classic Superboy burger with fries and gravy, and it was spot on. The burger meat practically melts in your mouth. The fries are hand cut and come out piping hot. They pay attention to detail on their food, and the staff visibly cares about what they are doing. The staff are friendly and the vibe is almost always positive. Food takes a while to get ready , but worth the wait. Call ahead if you can't wait, and they will prepare it ahead of time. Don't come here for the beautiful decor. It has a typical diner look to it, and the bathrooms are tucked away in the basement . Good, if you're u want privacy; bad, if your claustrophobic. But I don't come here for the decor. It's all about the food and the vibe and this place passes on all measures.

Small family owned Greek burger joint on Main and Landsdowne. It's the typical Winnipeg burger joint where you can get burgers, superboys (which are fat boys), fries, milkshakes and Greek food. But I came for the burgers and man oh man was I intimated by the size of these things. The patties are easily the biggest ones I've tried - very thick! At $4.00 for a single patty cheeseburger, it is very much worth the admission price in terms of quality and quantity. The burger had the usual pickles, onions, mustard and chili. The patty was very juicy though I was missing a bit of the carmelization and crust that I like on the exterior of a patty. The chili is very subtle here though I did pick up on the flavour of the cumin. The burgers here are probably 1.5 times or even bigger than VJs so there's definite value here but I could barely finish half as I also ordered a small poutine to share. The burger is very good here and I would highly recommend this place. But my personal preference for burgers is a stronger chili taste and more grill top crispiness on the patty. The small poutine ($5.25) is delicious! The fries are super crispy and just the right size (not too thin, not too thick) and the gravy is perfectly balanced and not too salty. But as a note the cheese here is mozzarella and not cheese curds. I really liked that the gravy and cheese were LAYERED in the bowl so you get a perfect ratio of fries, cheese and gravy in every bite! It's details like this that makes me rank this poutine very highly. They have a lot of milkshake flavours but the chocolate was yummy. The milkshake was thick, creamy and a great treat. My boyfriend ordered the double cheeseburger ($6.50) and had a very difficult time with it as he could barely finish it! Did I mention how thick the burger patties are?? LOL. I don't know the weight but it was pretty thick. But he really enjoyed the burger. The "superboy" burger is really a fat boy so the regular burger toppings plus lettuce, tomatoes and mayo and goes for $5.00. Oh and I must add that these burgers get pretty messy so it's not the type of burger you want to eat in your car. The restaurant has 7 tables that can seat about 4 each. There's parking in the back. The restaurant is very clean and amazingly there was no greasy food smell despite having the grill top cook only about 10 feet away from the dining area. Great exhaust hood! And service was very friendly but food service does require a bit of a wait because they cook everything to order!

After eating about 5 veggie burgers in the last month (at Boon's) I had to balance it off with a…read more"real" burger. So I splurged (calorically speaking) on a burger at Mrs. Mikes. I don't really give out 5 stars that often but this place really deserves it. I am still shocked and amazed at how good their burger is! I ordered the cheeseburger ($5) - kinda pricey compared to VJ's. But Mrs. Mike's burgers are bigger comparatively speaking. The cheeseburger is on a sesame bun, probably the size of a whopper. The patty is just slightly bigger than the bun and cooked with a slight crisp on the outside but still juicy inside - I love that! The flavour of the beef patty is perfectly seasoned and balances so well with the cheese, pickle, chili, onion and mustard. They don't put too much chili on their burgers so it's not as messy to eat but you still get the chili flavour. Of course I had to order their fries ($3). Now I'm torn on their fries because I was expecting the type of home cut fries (with the skin on) like at VJs but the ones here look and taste like McDonald's fries (although they taste a bit better than McDs). I have my moments when I love McD fries but when I am going to a local burger joint, I totally expect more "homestyle" fries. So maybe that pulls them down to 4.5??? I don't know...it's all subjective anyways and I'm neurotic enough to get a cheeseburger here and drive down to Broadway to get the fries at VJs. LOL. I was pretty full after finishing the cheeseburger and eating half the fries but I didn't feel too gross. You know that feeling when you've stuffed yourself with too much greasy food. So 5 stars for the cheeseburger and 4 stars for the fries = 4.5 stars, but I gave them the 5. The place seems pretty clean and organized in the kitchen. I was a little confused about where I was suppose to place my order as there are 2 widows (one in the front and one on the side). For the most part, it seemed like you order at the front, then wait for your order and then pick up and pay on the side window but then again some people did it differently. This place closes in the winter and closes at 7 pm so it's not a late night burger joint. There is no indoor seating as there are only picnic tables on the right side, which is about as scenic as a parking lot/alley - I took mine to go. All the prices listed on the board include taxes so it'll be a round number when you pay (CASH ONLY). They have a king burger (which I'm curious to what in includes), no fat boy but maybe the king burger is their version of one??? They also serve chili fries, milkshakes, and chicken fingers. Note: they are open seasonally (closes for the winter). Tues-Sat 11 am to 7 pm.

Very friendly service and have a great hardworking staff. The burger is quite enjoyable and indeed…read moreworth trying, it just isn't my place of choice for a fatboy.

They are sitting where it used to be vast parking spots for Chapters. I suppose that these spots are no longer needed. Yesterday, I visited Chapters and the Plaza at Polo Park with Winners, HomeSense, and Urban Behavior. All four stores do not have public washrooms. Bummer. I left the hotel at 10:45 am. It was now close to 3 pm. My bladder needed attention. I also felt like a strawberry sundae. I ventured into this BK. It was bright and clean inside the eatery. The washrooms were off to the right. There were a couple of single stalls. Perfect! The one that I used was clean. You need to press the large square button to lock the door. When you are ready to exit, you turn the handle to exit. I looked at the menu. I saw milkshakes. I didn't see sundaes listed. I got a helpful young woman at the counter. I asked if she had any sundaes. She did. She listed all the flavours. I went with strawberry, which is my favourite. I tapped my debit card to pay. Done! She went ahead and made me my sundae. She handed it to me, along with a napkin and wooden spoon. I thanked her and headed to my rental car to enjoy it. It was -21°C outside. I felt like a sundae. Some habits don't change over the years. The strawberry sundae hit the spot. I got the perfect combination of strawberry chunks and sauce with the vanilla soft serve. I was happy. I am thankful that this place had a washroom and my strawberry sundae. I'd return again when I'm in the area. (488)

It was Papa George's for the longest time. I spent a lot of time here, mainly because I lived in this neighbourhood and worked rotating shift work for half my time in Winnipeg. Papa George's was open until 4 am most nights. I am nostalgic. I also am curious. A couple of Mondays ago, I decided to visit my old neighbourhood and check Leopold's Tavern out. I parked across the street in the parking lot near the Liquor Mart store. You have two hours of free parking there. I don't know if anyone was truly clocking time, as it was raining. I walked into the eatery. It looked so different. A female staffer at the bar said to seat myself anywhere that I'd like. I plopped myself at a table with a good view of the Germany vs Paraguay game in FIFA play. I like that you get memorabilia everywhere in this establishment. The Winnipeg Jets 1.0. A bunch of records with record labels such as Polydor. Various world tours from Styx to Eurythmics. I loved everything about it. My server was excellent. He was attentive and helpful. I got a Coke Zero to start. This place didn't have Diet Coke, so I took the next best sugar-free option. It was cold and perfect. Refills were prompt, which I appreciated. I came here on a Monday. It was happy hour all day. Yay! This place has daily specials. I got a scotch egg that was $6 for happy hour. I saved $3. My server asked if I wanted my scotch egg with chipotle mayo, or zesty mustard, or both. I went with chipotle mayo. The egg came out first. It had panko on the outside. The sausage was so good around the soft-boiled egg. I loved this starter so much. I'd get it again in a heartbeat. I got the braised beef dip as my main. It came with a side. I opted for cabbage roll soup. This meal was outstanding. The braised beef was tender. It melted in my mouth with little chewing effort. This sandwich had swiss cheese, mushrooms, caramelized onion, and horseradish mayo. A toasted ciabatta bun held everything together. I dipped it in au jus. It was so flavourful and perfect. I loved my cabbage roll soup. It tasted like a deconstructed cabbage roll in a lovely broth. It was comforting and yummy. For dessert, I got creamsicle churros. I love creamsicles. I love churros. This combination could not be bad. The orange and vanilla sauces on top of crispy churro bites were amazing. It came with whipped cream. I had a bit of it, but wasn't necessary. The sauces worked their own magic. I paid with a credit card. I tipped. I tapped. I was done! The washrooms are in the same spots, but look different. The women's washroom was clean. No issues. This eatery is open till 2 am. It's still decent if you're working rotating shifts, or like a late night bite after a concert or sporting event. I'm glad I dropped by. I had a wonderful time reliving old memories of a past eatery and making new ones by having yummy, creative, good eats. I'll be back to try more items off the menu. (289)
