I loved the fact that a) he responded at all vs just ignoring the request, b) was upfront and honest about his timeline vs just taking the job and overextending himself. Once I told him that we were in no rush, and would be happy to wait, he proceeded to text back and forth with me helping me get an idea as to what the job might cost. He made recommendations about plants, etc....and all this without officially having secured my business. Towards the end of July, I reached back out to see what his timeline looked like. Again, he responded almost immediately. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner, and said he would come out to measure the area, and discuss the job in more detail. In my mind, he had absolutely nothing to apologizing for. He set a date to come out, came out exactly at the time he promised, and helped us figure out what would look good. He provided a written, detailed estimate, which he adhered to...we paid exactly what he quoted. On the day of the job, he showed up as promised and on time. He laid out all of the plants, and allowed us to move them around several times until we got everything exactly the way we wanted it. His team worked quickly and neatly. The end results are amazing! I have had two joint replacement surgeries in the last 9 months so I needed help. I don't know what their landscape design skills are because I had already decided what plants I wanted. I picked up plants from 2 nurseries. Saved him time and me money. ( It is later in the year and I had a hard time finding everything at one.) He suggested Hinsdale Nursery whose size of shrubs were amazing. Also had luck at Wasco in St. Charles. I placed where I wanted them and J&C had everything planted and mulched in half a day. They also removed 3 older (large) shrubs. They are VERY hard workers and Javier couldn't be nicer to work with. Always wants to make sure the customer is happy with the job. Responds by text within very reasonable amount of time (you need to consider the day and time you are texting as he is doing work also). Nice weather the first time (in 70's) This second project is re-grading a path and laying stepping stones. Also adding sod where necessary and blending with the other lawn in the area that is not being replaced. The weather is horribly hot and humid (in the 90's) and they are doing a great job. He said "I have to drive on the lawn." I said "you know best." He doesn't know best. He didn't warn there would be damage. Another company stated they would NEVER drive on someone's lawn to deliver. Also the dirt was big chunks of clay that was sitting in his truck for weeks and he just wanted to get rid of it. Also did not offer a resolution. That is not a lie. The story is not changing.
