Our backyard started as a rough, outdated space with an old shed that had become a major eyesore, a lawn overrun with weeds, and a large amount of old concrete that needed to be removed. One of the biggest challenges was that all of the demolition debris had to be taken out through a very tight access point, but the crew handled it efficiently without any issues. From start to finish, Daniel and his team were organized, professional, and incredibly hardworking. They removed the shed, demolished and hauled away all of the old concrete, cleared the overgrown lawn, and completely transformed the space. The quality of the materials they used was excellent. They built a beautiful stone patio exactly the way we envisioned it, installed an elegant pathway accented with Mexican river rock, and created two separate areas--one for our pool and another with fresh sod for a small lawn. The finished project turned what was once an unusable backyard into a peaceful retreat where our family loves spending time. What impressed me most was the pride they took in their work. Every detail was carefully completed, and the craftsmanship really shows. Their pricing was fair, and after seeing the final result, I can confidently say the project was worth every penny. Unfortunately, the installation completely failed to meet that standard, and the customer service follow-up was non-existent. The discharge point they installed sits in a depression, meaning the water constantly overflows and sheets directly across the public sidewalk instead of draining properly. This created a slip hazard and left a permanent puddle in the yard. Because the water was left to sit stagnant, my grass is now dying and turning orange from iron bacteria. When I reached out to Daniel with photos of the flooding, he told me to 'wait 10 days' for the ground to drain. I waited the full timeframe, but the problem persisted. I reached out multiple times afterward to get a plan together to fix the grading or extend the line. Daniel completely stopped responding and abandoned the project. I am now having to hire a second landscaping company to fix the problem.

What really stood out, though, wasn't just the quality of the work, it was the communication. It was clear, transparent, and consistent before, during, and even after the project. That level of professionalism is surprisingly rare in the home improvement industry. I own a house that was built in 1887, and over the past eight years I've hired countless companies for projects including a new deck, porch, fencing, painting, paver installation, and just about everything else you can think of. One of the most frustrating parts of working with companies in this industry is the lack of organization and communication. They're usually quick to collect the deposit, but after that you're left constantly following up for project start dates, updates, and progress. Working with Lisa was the complete opposite. She was organized, proactive, and always kept me informed. It was honestly refreshing. If you want to roll the dice and deal with the same frustrations I experienced with two other landscaping companies before finding Lisa, go for it. She then took those and made three very detailed designs in video format. From there we went back and forth a few times as I wanted a combination of designs. Throughout the entire process Lisa was patient and also answered several questions I had about plants. She oversaw the installation and came back the next day to tidy everything up. The workers ripped the power cord into several different pieces costing $150+ to replace the pump. We paid $600 for the cleanup and while our yard was clean and looked nice the loss of the vines on the house and replacing the pond pump overshadows that.

AKUI's first cleaned up the weed growth then went to work with the bricks, which were very difficult to remove and realign. I can recommend their services very highly! We (HOA) and our unit owners were very happy with the results. The manager I met, Curtis, is very personable, but more importantly he is excellent at what he does.
