When I was there trying to buy an onion, I witnessed a manager there getting some ladies face about a tomato that was thrown on the floor and the manager said oh this is not a bad tomato, even though it had several bruises on it and I could give you $.10 off If you're gonna be in the neck of the woods by groceries in Taos or somewhere else because this place is terrible.

Their selection of snacks is varied, they have plenty of ice and drinks, you will even find some local made spices, chiles, wines and a few knick knacks. Everything can be found cheaper somewhere else, it's just a matter of how far you want to drive. If you're looking at basic road trip snacks, so you spent an extra $1, who cares? For multiple items that could be a different story. Their single unisex restroom is kind of dirty and I always fear the day it will be out of order! Luckily that hasn't happened yet, but there is always a line. I do think they could be better about the maintenance though. The lot leaves enough room for parking and using the gas pumps without getting tangled. The gas prices were higher than we had been seeing on our trip, but not gouging higher. If they were anywhere else, the prices and lines would be 3 stars. But see above, I'm always relieved to see them when we take this route.

We came here on the first full day in Taos after a recommendation from a local shop owner. The avocado toast with a sorrel paste was extremely tasty. The avocado was creamy, the sourdough toast was perfectly toasted and the sorrel paste gave the dish a spark that made every bite a pleasure. The huevos rancheros were outstanding. The beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The green and red chile sauces were both on point and better than what I got at more well-known restaurants in town. The smoothies and chai masala were very creamy and tasty. Additionally, the vegan potato and corn chowder was a delicious lite lunch item. Very pleasant service as well. We came here every day and had terrific meals each time.

It was towards the end of the lunch shift and I was one of 3 people in the open dining room. One of the workers started slapping the chairs on top of all of the tables all around me, which was extremely annoying. Nothing like, pushing a customer out the door as quickly as possible ruining a pleasant experience. For my second attempt I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. I was happy they didn't charge extra for the gluten-free bread but the sandwich was very small and I had a dollop of a salad which seemed kind of ridiculous not to mention overpriced. I guess gone are the days where you pay almost $20 for a meager sandwich and you're still hungry afterwards looking for something else to eat. The good news is the atmosphere is pleasant and the menu ingredients are very fresh.

There is nearly always a line to the cashier and card scanners at the pumps are frequently problematic requiring you to go inside. Security is fine, and there are a few less low-lifes lurking than at most public places in Taos. The layout is fairly spacious and ingress/egress is simple with any rig. They have a fairly wide selection of beers and beverages and an excellent tobacco shop (the only one in Taos County). Their humidor offers about 50 premium cigars, mostly trendy American mades. There is also a small bottle shop which mostly sells miniatures to pedestrians. I am a sports car enthusiast and mechanic, and I can say, clearly, there is nothing wrong with their fuel. It is ordinary E10 offered in 3 levels of octane and diesel. The tanks, filters and pumps are still new. There is, another, much older station in El Prado which is notorious for making cars sick. If you prefer ethanol free, there is a new Allsups station on Paseo Sur with middle grade ethanol -free. You won't save any money at Hail Creek or anywhere in Taos but you can feel good that profits go into the tribal coffers for the good of it's members.

Very nice candy store in the heart of Red River's main road. I stopped in just to look around and…read morewas thoroughly impressed with their selection of candy and other souvenir and novelty items in the shop. I tried their milk chocolate walnut and milk chocolate almond fudge flavors; I ordered a pound of fudge and got another 1/4 pound of the cinna-swirl flavor fudge for free. The cinna-swirl was my favorite of the bunch. I was hoping the milk chocolate ones would be richer than they ended up being, but they were still very tasty. The white chocolate almond clusters were delicious. I will be sure to stop by again next time I'm in the area.
