I love this store~! It reminds me of the OG Sebastopol WFs from the 90s (if you know). This is what you want a healthy organic-ish grocery store to feel like. You do not expect a huge selection of anything but what they do offer looks really good and you know that you are paying for quality. I honestly wanted breads and pastries and did they deliver! The giant cinnamon bun was supposed to make it to Ft Garland CO, but only lasted about 5 minutes in the car before we dug in. The bread here is also delicious. We actually brought some back to Atlanta with us. Some of the other items we got here were tamale, meats, and candies. This is definitely a great store to stop at on your way in or out of town. read more

A great little health food grocery with brilliant prepared foods. They have an extensive meat counter. It has many of the items you would look for in a Whole Foods or health food store. What I go for is the tamale, vegan breakfast burritos, guac and steak lunch boxes. A great spot for a grab and go breakfast or lunch. read more

The quality of the food here keeps dropping while the prices skyrocket. What was the BEST burrito in town (in many towns actually), with black beans and plenty of meat, is now an overstuffed refried bean tortilla with flecks of meat and no flavor. My favorite yogurt drinks went from $5.99 to $9, and favorite salad from $13 to $20. Come on CIDS, you can do better. Take care of your people. read more

We are in Taos for 3 days, have stopped by several times because it is a fantastic place with a great variety of organic foods. We loved the place. However, I just experienced the absolute RUDEST cashier I've ever encountered in my life! Brent told me off and made sure to let me know I "was keeping him there 7 mins late", even though there were customers behind me in the checkout. read more

This is more for CID's 'Cellar' which for some reason is called that despite its being decidedly above ground . The guys here were named Use and Less as far as customer service . Not a peep of help except to say the amount due at the register. What I got there for local craft beer is available elsewhere like even Albertsons and cheaper . Meh. read more

Adorable market with loads to offer. From organic fruits and veggies, fresh made baked goods, and meats aplenty this is your one stop shop for groceries when staying in or around Taos. The layout was intuitive and within ten minutes we had all the ingredients we needed to feed a hungry house of six winter sport enthusiasts. As always it was nice to see touches of home (Boulder) in the candies and other goods they offered. Prices were great for kombucha, and a bit higher for other things such as pre-made salads (just under $7/lb.). Great variety of prepared foods and roasted whole chickens early in the day. Grass-fed meats. Wild-caught fish. Nitrite-free lunch meats, bacon, & hotdogs. Fresh herbs and local salads. Variety of nut butters, good oils, chocolate bars and snack bars. Healthy baby food. Sustainably grown frozen vegies, some organic frozen. Bulk bins. Grinder for fresh nut butter. Local honeys. Fresh pastries, including GF. Cut flowers & houseplants. Water dispenser. Grain-free granolas. Some gourmet items. I can always find assistance. They're friendly & helpful folks (please smile at them too). They'll do special orders. For a small store, they manage to carry a wide variety of great items. Cons: Pricy. I have lived in Taos for 23 years and for many years, Cids, which has excellent food and is easy to navigate, always won customer service awards. Sadly that has not been the case since (at minimum) the start of COVID. In particular, many (not all) of the younger female cashiers barely look you when you go through their aisle and do not say a word. Not a "did you find everything you needed", not a "how are you doing" nor even the most cursory "hello". I find this detracts from my used to be wonderful shopping experience at Cids. If management is aware of this deficiency and cares about a pleasant environment perhaps some basic customer service training skills could improve this aspect of Cids. read more

Based on the gentleman that stopped what he was doing when he saw my completely lost in the sauce face - and helped me find a challenge someone sent me to the store for after never having been, he was a true hero that day. I needed to get a "chocolate peanut butter bar" but she didn't know the name. I can't convey how overwhelmed I was when he first brought me to the aisle with the chocolate bars.... there were SO MANY! I'm used to crap Walmart service, but this gentleman went above and beyond finding me every single peanut butter chocolate combo available. It meant so much to me that he cared more about helping our customers in panic/lost mode when he could have continued stocking alone. I'd love thus store if I lived here, but it was very expensive for an outsider. $10 for two items is not something I'm used to, but you get what you pay for: quality. read more

This review is about Cid's prepared foods, not about the market itself. The market is nice and I am sure that Taos is happy to have it. We purchased some food to take to Ojo Caliente, as we were tired of fancy restaurant food by this time. Chocolate chip cookies (good), along with a turkey/smoked provolone sandwich and some chicken salad. Wow! We could barely swallow either the sandwich or the chicken salad -- it was so dry! Please, please, add some mayo to that recipe! We could not eat it. I was glad we had some other items we had brought from home. read more

I am a frequent skier at Taos Ski Valley. Occasionally we have breakfast at Cid's Market on the mountain. Many times we have visited the business for breakfast and many times the employee that cooks the breakfast has disappointed us. To be blunt, this employee is rude and has no businees interacting with customers. Today, I asked for a breakfast burrito without cheese. The cook told me that I was lucky to be able to purchase anything at this facility and that no, he would would not provide a burrito without cheese. If Cid's cannot accomodate customers that cannot eat cheese, then stop providing food completely. Cid's is not doing there customers a favor selling there products to the paying customers. They are the ones that should thank us for supporting them. Management should review there policies that deal with there employees at Cid's on the mountain. read more

Friendly and helpful employees, wonderful and clean atmosphere, and excellent selection. Cid's has everything you are looking for, and of course, things you didn't think you were looking for that just look so amazing that you decide to give them a try. If you come in hungry, they have a hot food bar, and also refrigerated items look amazing. Wonderful produce and tons of local products around the store in every department. Everyone was so nice and happy to help you. When I was there, I accidentally burned my hand on the warmer above the chicken wings! Luckily, an employee was able to provide me with some ice to help soothe my hand, which was super nice after my own clumsiness. While there, I had hoped to find some local baked goods, but the selection was very limited.(locally made pies and a few bags of cookies) I was hoping to find something to bring for dessert to a party I was invited to. If the bakery section was a little larger, that would have been awesome, and I am sure I would have found something to bring, but this store is still an excellent place to shop. read more

Meat department is solid (if over priced) and butchers are friendly. The rest of the place is average - at best. Produce is OK. Expect standard products with a 10-15% premium on the price. Organic sliced turkey comes out to close to $30/lb. Seriously. The real rub is that after dropping so much money one can be enjoy being ignored or treated flippantly by the employees. oh joy. For example, if the public restroom is locked for 10-15 minutes and a crackhead or homeless person is in there doing there thing, try asking an employee for help. The three workers I encountered said yeah, that's too bad and speaking to the manager - well they just "manage" you. They even told me it was open, hoping I would go away. I went. It was still locked. WOW. Clearly this is corporate America masquerading as a small town market that cares. If you want to pay a premium for your food, avoid their butcher shop and enjoy the aisles of outrageous prices and absence of service. read more

For a small resort town, this is as good as it gets. I am proud and thankful that our community has this level of grocer. The staff, the tasting events, the care to requests, rewards program and bagging donations are all worthy. Plus the produce guys always have detailed info about the products that promote and sustain local and organic farming as a whole. I always head there first as they do a good job welcoming customers and making everyone feel like they are part of a food community that matters. Check out is always highly staffed and is a pleasant experience even during the holidays. Plus they support a lot of worthy causes by allowing other third parties to fund raise on their location. Thanks for supporting goodness in out community. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is that I think they could do better with selling outdoor seasonal items. This is a great place to stop in Taos or on the way back to Santa Fe. You can stock up on prepared foods or grocery items (not just food). It's not huge but it has a good/wide selection of vegan options (and gluten free). I'm from Dallas so I would compare it to a Sprouts if you're familiar with them. They also have local items clearly marked. Definitely a solid place for tasty, healthy, organic, vegan/GF (or not) options for everyone. read more

I also was accused of shoplifting even though I had a receipt and did not steal a single thing. I have never once shoplifted. I was on a mission and one mission only..... to purchase local New Mexican chiles so I could bring them home with me to Connecticut. Low and behold, at the end of aisle three was an assortment of local chile spices; in both red and green chiles and in powdered and flake form. Hallelujah! You'll find all the same folks here: the neurotic label reader, the high out of hismind white rasta guy, the passive aggressive dirty look get out of my way guy. Nice organic meat section. The deli doesn't have enough grab and go items like sandwiches and salads. It's a great place to get some good local ingredients for gifts or just take home if your visiting; Lot's of agave nectar, chile powders and local herbs(Sorry White Rasta Guy, not that kind of herb) read more

It's a smaller selection but has a lot of organic things and the people are friendly and kind and supportive and wonderful actually. If you dislike this place maybe Taos isn't for you. My wife and I were able to find all of the groceries that allowed us to navigate all of our dietary restrictions (gluten-free, diary-free, and keto) in this compact and well laid out store. That would justify a 5 star rating. However, the level of disinterest bordering on hostility after I offered a "hello" and "thank you", was 1-star. Perhaps being a polite mid-50s Midwestern male combined with COVID-19 protocols was all it took to get the icy attitude. That's right. A 5-star grocery store. I shopped at Whole Foods and Central Market for years when I lived in Dallas -- but Cid's is a gem that outshines them both. Besides all the local and NM specialty foods (they have chicos on the shelf!!!!) this is just the best selection of organic produce this side of Southern Oregon. I mean -- I could live on saute'd veggies if I lived here. We tried 3 varieties of the their fresh sausages while we were in our little studio rental -- and all were great. Sausages, veggies, fruit -- and tortillas. How can you beat that? Actually, we carried 2 coolers full of groceries home to Texas -- there are no markets like this anywhere in the panhandle.... read more

Let me start my saying that I'm not a hippy. I don't have ample body hair and that family brings me to the town Taos once or twice a year. With that said the Hippies and customers with ample body hair are pretty much the customer base here which adds to the ambiance of this store. I shopped here twice the weekend i was in town. The prices were a bit steep, even for taos, but the quality of the products seemed to be worth The price. The meat was freshly cut but seemed to be limited in there verities. Local free range Eggs were 3.29 for a dozen. The produce is all organic and locally grown. Over all this is a great little co-op. Clean neat and well staffed. read more

I like Cid's for their organic food offerings and I used to go in very often, but I felt it was necessary to share an experience that happened that has changed my opinion of the establishment: The staff, mostly made up of men are often predatory and make me feel uncomfortable when I am there. I can't pick out produce without a male staff gawking at me or trying to talk to me. At first it seemed harmless and it seemed like they are just being "friendly" but one day, I went in near closing and one of the male staff actually followed me to my car and asked me for my phone number. I complained to the manager, who happened to be a woman and the issue was addressed. I am grateful for that. But even now I try not to go to Cid's often because I still feel uncomfortable shopping there as a woman. I have not stepped into Cid's since the incident and I instead shop at Taos Market Diner which is woman owned and staffed. I really hope Cid's will progress their business and create a better store environment... I've lived in a few other states with wonderful locally owned / employee owned markets and even Community-owned co-ops and I feel that Cid's can do a lot more and a lot better to service the Taos community. It's just a shame that we have very few options here in town right now. read more
