I've been traveling I-25 for a couple decades, beginning long before i moved to this town which is one of the poorest towns in New Mexico, and everyone appears to be on SNAP. I don't know if the high prices are due to the "trapped" population. This store is consistent and is a good place to stop to pick up a couple things if you come in off the highway. Its kind of weird though with carpeting that give people static shocks. I saw one guy doing self checkout and he got such a loud crack of static that the checkout wand went flying out of his hand and landed 30 feet away, luckily it did not strike anyone. The value of having this grocery store gets overlooked The negative reviews almost Kept us from trying it, but we were delightfully surprised by the variety, freshness of produce, and range of offerings If you compare it to a big city, of course it's going to be in a different category, but if you compare to the prices cleanliness and selection on the other side of the mountains, like Angel Fire or Red River, it shines! For years I have been trying to get that place to deliver in town. The disabled and elderly need to eat too! And not everyone has access to transportation. I was told that they can not afford to do that. Are you kidding me? Groceries are old and double or more than Walmart, which by the way has been taking delivery orders for months now. The more I go here, the more I fall in love with it. They just seem to have a nice selection of most everything. The staff is very friendly. The prices are decent. I'm not sure what else one could ask for? I love that the store keeps up with the times and technology. They now have self-service checkout lanes and seem to be adding more. Those of us who stop by to just pick up a few things are whisked off on our way, quick and easy. If you have a cartful of groceries, no worry there, either. Only grocery store in town. Moved here recently from big city. Their prices are sky high. I'm not sure how most residents can afford to shop here, unless the store is taking advantage of EBT. The parking lot is a pothole disaster. I would think that since their prices are ridiculously high, the parking lot could be repaired! read more

Don't be fooled by the name- this place is more expensive than Whole Foods. A can of Raos tomato sauce is over $12!!!!! They're either taking advantage of people not wanting to drive all the way to Trinidad, or that food stamps will pay for it but definitely should change their name. Most things I buy at Walmart are double the price here. read more

Only grocery in town; fortunately nice place and everyone seems friendly and helpful. Nice selection. It isn't perfect but it is one of the stars of the town. Oh, by the way, they open at 7 AM and close at 7 PM on most days. read more

Terrible! In town visiting family and we came here for groceries, unfortunately I didn't know just getting a few things would turn into an hour long adventure costing upwards of $65! Their prices are atrocious, and when we were looking for a lane to get into, there were only 2 cashiers on a Saturday afternoon so huge lines! Then the clerks act like its their break time and just start talking to random people and other cashiers so the line goes even slower!! Awful, will not be returning read more

Yesterday I bought a package of their homemade tortillas (always very tasty) and discovered halfway through making dinner that there were only 6 in a package of 10. Well, it was dinner, so we ate the tortillas. I took the empty package and receipt back to the customer service desk, explained what happened, and they gave me a full replacement package no questions asked. Super save is now tooken over by the Lows company and is remodeled has very good prices this is the only grocery store their is in Raton.

This is currently the only grocery store in Raton. It's nothing special, but serves its purpose just fine.

I've been in Raton for three years now, since prior to the Super Save being purchased by Lowe's. The store itself since they took over is much more attractive to shop in, the variety of products is much improved, but the basic problem still exists. Customer service just stinks. I am in the store as often as daily, since there are perishable items I need to buy on a regular basis for my business. Management knows I am there often and that I spend considerable amounts of money, but do they even bother to greet me? Um, nope. I can walk into the Tractor Supply in town and I'm greeted instantly. OK, so is every other customer, but that's my point. At a store with good customer service, the customer is greeted, the customer is asked if they need help finding things, and the customer is thanked on the way out. It's not hard. Although the managers are capable of hopping on a register when the lines back up, they rarely do. Go in a lunch time any give day and the lines are four or five deep with no help in sight. Any time that I've worked retail, a line over three customers was not acceptable. A number of the cashiers are very personable, some not so much, a few spend more time talking to the baggers than acknowledging the customer. But that is an issue that starts at the top. If I had an option to shop somewhere else that did not involve me having to drive to Trinidad, CO, I surely would. read more

Went to super save last night in raton nm11.15.18 because prices had been much cheaper than walmart 30 minutes away. It is vital in a rural community to seek price saving as the only way to survive. Walked in to find CARPET everywhere. Ugh who puts carpet in a grocery store and the prices had been raised so high that we couldn't afford to shop there so we left. Not even the same sweet staff worked there anymore. Will not ever go back. read more

This is the only full-service grocery in Raton. The store has improved since the Lowe's family took it over. Their prices are similar to the prices I was used to paying at a Kroger store or at a small-town Affiliated Foods grocer in the Midwest. I learned one thing about traveling long distances to stores which offer lower prices: the gasoline cost to make the trip required that I save more on my grocery bill than it would cost me to drive there and back. When I did the math, it quickly became apparent that my costs would decrease if I would instead shop carefully in my hometown store. And my time is worth something, too. This store is disgusting. The produce is rotten, red meat is brown and the product selection is from 1950. The ownership does not even have the ethics to repair their sign on the storefront. The parking lot is not maintained, nor is the store inside, which again has not been remodeled since it opened, maybe 1950?. My favorite is cruising down the ice cream freezer aisle and watch the ice cream oozing out of containers that have popped their top. I realize this is the only super market in Raton, but one would think that a little pride of ownership would go a long way. read more
