This is the store that has certain intangibles that the grocery outlets do not. I was cooking beans, their ham hocks are way off the list. They get away with higher prices, but there are certain foods that you can't get anywhere else. They are the one of a few stores that have everything, for beans, well NOT everything. Plus, Super Save no longer keeps baskets to carry. All they have are the carts with wheels. I complained that in a wheelchair I cannot push the cart and negotiate my wheelchair You go to the outlet, discount stores first , and come here last. Plus, they have a VARIETY of 'olde skool' wines from back in High school that no other stores feel, like the Boones Farm, etc. You can't get it anywhere else. They have a stand , in store, where you can buy already cooked. But. As I get older, they are just too salty for my tastes. I could eat it when I was younger. Plus, they have a Monopoly, in the Bay View, Hunters Point, Third Street. There is Foodsco; but, their bags don't have handles. I am not in a car. I cannot carry bags without handles. I don't even frequent Safeway as much anymore because their bags usually don't have handles. Now what Safeway has done ... is ... they carry 'x amounts' of bags with handles, but a certain amount, or number of days and they will tell you that they are OUT of bags with handle s. read more

Shop local, good produce, amazing meat counter! All the basics in a small store. Priced high for the hood.

They've done a lot of work inside the store and it looks great. I've been buying my produce from them because it's much better than Safeway. Even the dairy cases have been updated. Haven't had any issues with half & half since. read more

For starters, their price tags aren't accurate. For example, today we bought a bottle of cleaner that said $2.99 on the shelf label but it was actually $6.18 when she rung it up. When we brought it to the checkout person's attention, she could NOT have cared less. She just shrugged and said "no. NO!" So we just left. That was so unnecessary and we were just asking if there was a mistake with the price. I've been to this store a few times and even its incorrect prices are already so much high than other stores. It's even more expensive than convenience stores and stores like Walgreens for grocery items With service and prices like this, I wouldn't be surprised if this store struggles to stay open when the new Lucky supermarket opens a few blocks away. read more

Super Save Supermarket is a Hunters Point neighborhood staple. It is been located on third street for many years. All my experiences with customer service has always been great. Everyone is always very friendly, even when the store is busy. It is super dark inside. No real outdoor lighting can be misleading and have you skeptical, however it's a great market. Clean and neat aisles. Their meat market is always stocked with fresh pink meat. It never smells weird like other meat butcher shops. They have A lot of non familiar items too that other markets don't have. Very organized usually you pull a number to keep place if it's not too busy. The store is stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables. Great selection of home groceries. Beverages and liquors. Super Save has everything you need, you can also cash your check. Pay utility bills. Also recently added on inside is a Krispy Krunchy Chicken shack station, always hot and delicious. They also have their own parking lot, it can get "trafficy" sometimes but is still much appreciated considering the busy main street is barely available. read more

A local grocery store with a meat market that is outstanding. A wide selection of food products as well as items one may need around the house. The grocery items are a bit on the high side but comparable to other stores (even Lucky) on most things. The meat market has very reasonable prices for quality and quantity. I highly recommend it even if you are not shopping there for regular groceries. The staff is friendly there and throughout the store. They have just finished redoing the shelves, produce area and reconfigured the aisles so it is much more clean and organized. Plus they have the San Francisco Chronicle which is becoming more and more difficult to find. I, for one, am thankful we have this store in our neighbourhood! read more

My first time at this supermarket and i was quite impressed. Private parking lot so parking wasn't a problem. Store was clean and well organized with clear aisles. Customer service was great and they also have a taqueria/Krispy Krunchy chicken inside. I thought the location was smaller compared to most major supermarket retailers however they seemed to have most of the necessities. They also have a butcher area in the back and a money gram spot in the front. Produce was in the front as well and looked very good. Prices here are super fair and i would definitely come back here again if i was in the neighborhood. read more

The woman cashier in the meat department is dishonest with customers on Wednesday 10% off for seniors. I personally had to call the manager to receive the discount after she refused to give me 10% off. I heard her ask an obvious older woman for her ID. I always remind customers to say senior or 10% before she start to ring the amount up. She's the only one I noticed who works the cash register who will not give seniors the discounted price. read more

This is my go to spot when in the area. Its the most convenient spot . They have everything you need , they're quick to help you, and the parking lot is soo perfect. I can easily swoop in and out real quick. I am usually coming in here because I am on my way too a job its on the perfect side of the street I need to be on and very much on the way to alot of things I'd be going too. The location is perfect. They have a great selection of food here too. The prices are great here and the deli is pretty good. The pastries and the meat department are really good here. If you like donuts, they have a great little krispy kreme area also. I love me some good deals and this place definitely has them. This has been one of my favorite places for awhile read more

This supermarket is a very convenient and reasonably priced, grocery store. They have most of the items you may casually need. There is a medium sized parking area. Most of all, the workers there are very friendly and service oriented. I was there last week and a gentle man politely offered to carry my grocery to my car; I told him that I was walking home --a couple of blocks away. I came here on a busy Friday evening and was assisted by a younger gentleman. I needed a large order of their premium steaks for a big party I was throwing and was able to find a great deal. WARNING HEALTH RISK I just moved into the area and decided to do some produce shopping for a house warming dinner party. I bought a bag of potatoes and didn't think much about it until shortly after I cooked and served them. I along with others got food poisoning right after, with almost instantaneous diarrhea and vomiting over the next 2 days. I'm a strong believer in head-to-tail eating, and I love that I can purchase anything from beef , pork,turkey wings,and fish add to the that smocked items. - The prices. Generations of my family members have been coming to Super Save. Heck my grandma used to cash her check at the meat market and she could send me down there to get meat on credit. There was a time when you only bought meat, grits and spices there. Everything else was too old or too high. But now they have a better veggie section. But the real reason to go here is for the meat. Since being priced out of rents in San Fran I've had to move to Oakland. But when we want to cook soul food we always come back across the bridge. This is a neighborhood family store, everyone there, employees and patrons are friendly and helpful. I love the way the meat counter personnel will laugh and kid with you while filling your order, even when they are busy and patrons are lined up 3 deep, they still work quickly and take care of everyone. This reminds me of the local corner super market we had in my home town, the prices are good, better than most places, the selection is okay for the most part. Some harder to find items are there. Anyways, I frequent this store weekly and recommend it to others as a great way to save money and get fresh meats read more
